49 Tartarus (Part 4)

The village was still far so it might take a while to reach there.

"Do you usually help people in distress Sir Nightfall?"

The cute simple looking girl named Ela, asked Xyn.

"No, I'll only help when I feel like it, or perhaps if they really need it."

Obviously, that was a lie. He would only help people he cared about. He won't help just anyone, unless they have their uses or if there was a good reason in helping them.

"Oh. Hihi, you're a good man."

"Really? I don't think so. If it brings only trouble, I won't help them."

Ela tilted her head slightly as she heard his straightforward words.

"I quite understand that. Getting in unnecessary trouble is a bother. It might get you killed."

"You got it."

Ela broadly and brightly smiled at Xyn. Her smile somewhat mesmerized him but he forced himself to snap out of it. True, her beauty might perhaps only half of the female guardians, however, beauty is beauty, no true man would be able to completely hope to endure a beautiful maiden.

"Hihihi…I like you…"

Ela quietly said, of course, Xyn heard that. In fact, it seemed like Ela wasn't trying to conceal the words she said, instead she wanted to be heard.

"I don't know anything about this village. Can you tell me about it? If you don't mind."

"No problem. Hmm, I guess I should start with the name… This village is called Yiell."

"Yiell huh… As you had already gone here several times, what are the people like?"

"Ah! They are wonderful people! All of them are nice! You'll get to like them when you meet them."

"I guess they are quite renowned due to their kindness."

"Well… they are kind, and yes they are supposed to be renowned because of that…"

Xyn shifted his eyes to Ela. She changed her tone of talking all of a sudden. She sounded upset.

Then she continued.

"… They don't deserve to suffer… if only the kingdom could at least give a bit of attention to them…"

Now she sounded even more upset, it was like she was in sorrow. Sensing her sorrow, her brother gave a pitiful look at her before looking down. It was the same for her father.

Xyn was curious, so he couldn't hold himself from asking.

"What do you mean?"

"Ah! You don't have to know about it. Perhaps that's just how it is when you're from a village at the edge of the border. You don't have to worry about it."

"Is that so? I understand."

Xyn wanted to ask more, however, asking more about that topic which seemed to make them uncomfortable was unwise. There was just a gloomy mood just now, so increasing that mood would only be bad and might affect their impression about Xyn.

Still, he quite learned something. It was that the village was under a kingdom. That was an essential thing to know. Kingdom's were typically a term used during the middle ages. Xyn already had a thought that the world he was in was currently in the medieval age, he thought of it after witnessing Cludio use a sword as well as a carriage. However, that alone would not be enough proof to fully conclude that they were indeed currently in the medieval age.

That said, with the word "Kingdom" which he heard increased the possibility that this was in the medieval age. However, now, that was not the only sign he found. The way the village's structures made and how they appeared looked like they were from the medieval age. With all of that, Xyn had thought it was now safe to conclude that the world they were in are still in the medieval age or middle age.

"So, how many friends do you have on that village, Ela?"

"Hm, well, I'm friendly to everyone there, and they're friendly to me. I think it's almost all of them in the village."

"Hoh. I'm impressed you managed to do that."

"Hihihi, actually, there are a few I can confidently call friends there, I can't fully call old people as friends when I'm this young, so the ones I confidently call friends are the ones almost the same age as me."

"Of course, when you're the same age, you can mostly relate to each other so you can be friends."

"Do you have friends, Sir Nightfall?"

"Friends…"

Xyn recalled the time when he was still at the academy. He remembered his friends, their moments together, the fun times and more. It felt good in the heart when he remembered those moments. Well, he had a lot of friends, whether in lower years or higher. However, what remembered Xyn the most were the moments with his close friends.

"Yeah, I guess I could say there was a lot. But I'm not sure if I could see them again."

"Why is that?"

"Well, due to certain circumstances."

He said as he turned to look at Ela and tilted his head slightly.

"Is that so? Well, I won't try prying into your business."

"How thoughtful of you, I deeply appreciate it."

"Is that even something to be appreciated with?"

Xyn chuckled.

"Indeed, and that was not the only thing I'm thanking you with."

"Oh? Really?"

"Yes, chatting with you and letting me see your wonderful bright smile is something worthy of appreciation. These moments with you makes me happy. It makes me want to thank the cruel thing called fate."

"Aiee? Ah, Eh, I see."

"Such a charmer." Ela's brother, Cel, quietly said to her. Of course, Ela heard him so she smacked him by the shoulder.

Shit why did I say that?! Aaaah, don't tell me that side of myself is coming out! Dammit, control, control.

Xyn thought.

"Ahem… I-It was also a great time talking with you. Makes me wonder what you look like."

"Really… It would be embarrassing. You might get disappointed. I can't even begin to imagine the pain I would feel if you're disappointed."

Dammit! I failed!

Xyn thought. He failed to hold his words. Well, it would make sense he couldn't control his mouth. It's has been a long time since he had a conversation like this. And especially, it was a cute girl he was talking to.

"No-no, I'm not picky you know…" She looked away in an instant while holding her cheeks as she realized something, and she quietly said. "—why am I talking like I'm about to pick a guy? It sounded like I was already picking someone to marry."

"Hahahaha." Her father laughed out loud. "It's quite rare to see my daughter acting like this. She's quite a charmer, you see. In fact, a lot of men are charmed by her so a lot would fight to win her heart. It's the first time she acted like this."

"F-Father!"

"Hahahaha. You have a good way with words, sir Nightfall. You're quite a charmer yourself." Cludio said.

"Really? I don't see myself that way. In fact, I think my words are quite mediocre."

"Nah, you're good."

"Is that so? Thank you."

They were now getting closer to the village. Given the distance, they might now reach the land where the village resides.

They talked about some things as they walk. That said, they never noticed the chaos behind – or to be precise, the chaotic intent of the warrior in white.

She was trembling as she tried to hold and control herself. She was firmly holding her sword as she resisted the urge to – well, to resist the urge of leaving a giant crater on this land. Yes, she wanted to hammer down her power on where she was currently walking – or maybe to only one person.

The one girl, the girl who was talking casually to her master. The girl that stated that she likes her master. The girl who received the praise of her master. And, most of all, the talk about marriage. Yes, she heard her.

A mere human.

She wanted to kill her. She wanted to tear her into pieces, or perhaps just might destroy her into smithereens. She wanted to obliterate her.

To be short, she was "jealous."

However, she knew she can't do that. They had their uses to her master. Killing them without a proper reason will surely displease her master.

Therefore, she had no choice but to resist that murderous urge.

***

Xyn and the others had entered the village. From the looks of it, the village was indeed living a simple life. The pathways were all unpaved but were clear of grass. On the sides of those pathways were green grasses on different heights.

The houses were just like how houses in a village were. A few were made of bricks and others were simply made of wood. Some were on an average size and some were small. However, there was not any large house can be seen.

As Xyn entered, he saw villagers carrying sacks which seemed to contain something like grains. Some were doing their daily chores like cleaning and laundry. Some seemed to be working in carpentry.

"Oh it's Cludio!"

One of the villagers called Cludio.

"Hey!"

Cludio greeted him back with a broad smile, they seemed to know each other.

"How's life Cludio!?"

Another villager called to him and asked.

"The same as always. Where's the village chief?"

"I saw him last at the plaza."

"I see. Thanks!"

Cludio waved at them as he passed by.

He seems to be quite known by many here huh. Is it because he's one of the few merchants who come here? I did hear this place is at the border, so not many might come here to sell, especially with the fact that this is just a small village.

Xyn thought.

"Hey Ela, Cel!"

Some of the villagers greeted them as they passed by. Ela was the only one greeted back while Cel remained silently and merely nodded his head while smiling.

Xyn kept his silence as they strode further into the village. There he noticed that a lot of the villagers' eyes were fixed on him and Criswell. Some were gawking and some were staring right in the open. At the same time, the villagers were whispering and muttering.

"Who are they?"

"Never saw them before."

"Look, that armor looks cool."

"I've never seen armor like that before. It looks amazingly made."

"The guy's clothes are amazing."

"Yeah, the details and design are awesome."

"He seems rich."

"Is he of nobility?"

"I don't know. But it seems like it."

The mutterings of the villagers reached Xyn's ears. In spite of all that, Xyn paid them no heed as he walked forward, he didn't even turn his head to look at them.

"The two of you quite stand out, Sir Nightfall."

Cludio said.

"It appears so. Is it rare for people wearing like this coming here?"

"Hm… I think it's very rare. There's hardly even any normal people to come here nor any adventurers similar to your gears."

"I see. Do you think they're suspicious of us?"

"I don't think so. They're not the bunch to quickly judge you as someone suspicious if you're just walking, especially you're with me so you'll be fine."

"It's quite a relief hearing that."

Of course, Xyn didn't care if they're suspicious of him. Besides, there were no benefits to gain from this village, nor did he have any interest in it. This village was nothing special.

It took a while before they reached an open space in the middle of the village. The open space was not that wide, but it seemed it was what they called plaza.

Well, calling it a plaza is acceptable. At least they could come here to leisure. But it feels empty.

Xyn thought.

"Oh there's the village chief. Hey chief!"

Cludio called to a man who was talking to another villager. The so-called village chief turned to look after he was called. After that, the village chief walked towards Cludio.

"Cludio, I'm so glad you're finally here."

"Yeah, it's been like almost a month maybe."

"Yes, it is. Hm? Who are they?"

The village chief turned his sights to Xyn.

Xyn was about to answer but Cludio spoke first. Well, it's quite best that Cludio answer that question. They trust Cludio after all.

"Oh they're the ones who saved us from the demi-humans?"

"Demi-humans? Nearby here?"

"Well they came from the Forest of Res."

So that's the name of that forest.

Xyn thought.

"That's a surprise. Thank you very much for saving my friend."

"It was nothing. Ah, my name is Xyn Draven Nightfall, and my companion here is Criswell. Nice to meet you."

Xyn extended his hand. At that moment he was struck by worry. He extended his hand in habit of meeting a new person. It would be embarrassing if they don't understand what he was doing.

Luckily, the chief reached out his hand.

"Same. I'm Ento Cedar."

Oh thank goodness, they know what a handshake is.

Xyn thought and sighed in relief in his mind.

"Now then Cludio. What about you go to the fields first? I'll go fetch the coins and I'll catch up."

"That's fine. Then see you there."

The two parties split up. Cludio followed by Xyn went to what it seemed like to be the outskirts of the village. As they headed towards the what Xyn heard as the fields, Cludio spoke to Xyn.

"Don't you want to take a look around the town Sir Nightfall?"

"It's fine. Besides, if a stranger just casually walks around, that might invite discomfort to the villagers. I can learn more about this place if I follow you either. Of course, if you don't mind us following you around."

"No, no I don't mind. Hm. Perhaps because of the mask… Yes, maybe due to that it might cause discomfort or something…"

"I suppose so. After all, you cannot fully trust someone who hides his face."

"I never got to ask you this, and I know this might be rude but. Why do you hide your face? Of course, you don't have to answer if you don't want to."

"Well, due to certain circumstances I can't show my face to anyone."

"Oh I see. I understand."

"You're so mysterious, Sir Nightfall. Is there ever a chance I can see your face?"

Ela asked Xyn.

"When the time comes, I'm sure you will."

"Aaah, that also means I could never."

"You're a magic caster right Sir Nightfall?"

That question made Xyn raise an eyebrow.

So, magic casters are a thing here huh. How lucky. So that's why they didn't freak out when I used magic. It's finally confirmed that magic is a thing here. Also, the term magic caster is used on the ones who use magic.

Xyn had come across a thought that magic might not be available to the people of this world. However, he still decided to use magic against the demi-humans. It could also be a way to know if they know something close to magic. If not, then they would be shocked and freak out. Also, one ought to be careful asking about magic, some stories Xyn knew consider magic as something taboo after all. Besides, showing is better.

If they do freak out when he did something unexplainable, Xyn had already thought of what to do. The one thing to do was to erase their memories. Yes, Xyn could do that. He was quite confident in using a spell which erases memories. He had practiced it on a lot of people back in the old word after all.

The other thing he could was a quick way. In short, it was to kill them. Cruel it may be, but dead men tell to tales. Well, of course, there might be resurrection spell in this world, so if he was to kill them, he would burn their corpse to ashes. Or perhaps, rather than kill them immediately, take out much information they can spout, and when they have no more to give, that's when they have to die.

Ultimately, what influenced Xyn to make a decision of using magic was because he could feel mana on the air. It was like in the old word. Mana comes with the air. If there's mana, there's magic. However, he felt this world's mana was different somehow. Well, he thought perhaps that was because this was a different world.

Good thing it ended very well otherwise it would be the worst fate for these three merchants.

"Yes I am."

"I see. I heard that some magic casters tend to wear a mask. It must be common for you guys."

So there are others that wear a mask.

Xyn thought.

"Well I have my own reason. Perhaps others also wear masks for a reason, or perhaps only for fashion."

"I guess so." Cludio chuckled.

A while had past and they had reached the outskirts of the village. There a field with crops standing upon it. There were several villagers working on their harvest. Men and women were all working.

Everything looked normal. They seemed to be working alright. There appeared to be no problem whatsoever. Except for the fact the they all looked like they were in the verge of exhaustion.

That's just how it is to work in places like this right? After all, they are working under the sun. Still, it bothers me they all looked that way.

He had never worked on fields before nor had he worked on jobs required manual labor. There were times when they worked manually in schools or in his home, but it was not the same level as farming. Therefore, he could never fully comprehend how it really be like working in jobs like these.

Xyn turned to look at the three merchants, they weren't smiling as they stared at the fields. In fact, they appeared to be staring at something pitiful. This made Xyn more curious.

"Ela!"

A bunch of people called to Ela. Several figures approached her, some looked like they were younger than her and some looked almost the same age as her.

"Greeting to you also Cel and Mister Cludio."

They also greeted the two and the two also greeted back.

Ela went down the carriage and talked to them with a bright smile of her face, they seemed to be her friends. Her friends also looked happy as they talked to each other. After that, Cludio and Cel followed down and they removed the cloth covering the back of their carriage.

Shortly after that, the village chief had finally come.

"Oh Chief. I brought a lot just in case you need more than last time."

Cludio said while showing the goods on his carriage.

"… Great! You also got tools."

"Yeah, so what do you need?"

"Hm, we're in need for some new hammers, also some new tools for our crops and field."

"Don't you already have enough tools for the crops and things?"

The village chief's face loosened as though he was upset.

"…The landlord is demanding more products. He's already taking a lot of our harvest to the point we don't have enough to feed ourselves."

Don't have enough to feed themselves? So that's why they looked like that. They were not having enough food for nutrition and to fill their bellies.

Xyn thought.

"This, this is getting worse as time passes."

"Indeed, that's why we're going to expand our fields as fast as possible."

"I see, then the hammer is going to be four coppers each. As for the farming tools, a hoe is at five coppers, and as for a shovel is six coppers."

"Thank you Cludio, you always sell us the affordable products."

"Hehe, well don't expect too much. Due to those being cheap, they're not that good quality."

"It's fine, at least we can afford and use it."

"Oh, last time I came here, I heard you need something to warm you up. So I also got some fur and cloth for you. Also, I have some meat here just in case you need some."

"Thank you for your thinking about us Cludio but, I'm sorry. Our village doesn't have much anymore."

The chief showed a pouch, as it moved, sounds of metal could be heard. It sounded like coins.

"In fact, all of this is already from all the villagers and all are copper coins."

"Really…?! I imagine this is less than last time."

"Much less. The tax the landlord demands had increased drastically all of a sudden."

"That's already more than too far. Dammit. I've also sent a report to the city, but it seems there are no actions."

"I guess peasants like us are being ignored."

"This isn't just right."

"We'll be fine, soon we'll figure something out. Then I'll just to get some cloth and spice."

"Haaah, very well."

As Xyn listened to their conversation, he finally got an idea on the village's situation. In short, the land Lord, was highly likely be a noble that was abusing the villagers. If Xyn was to judge from what he heard, the land Lord was full of greed to the point he never cared about the people living in his land.

Well, I guess this is quite cliché. Always happen in stories I know. I guess that's just how nobles are. Well, I heard that nobles in my world do act like that in the past, don't know if that's all true though.

"Oh! Raelyn!"

After all that, Ela shouted to call someone.

"Ah! Ela!"

The girl called was a teenager, looks like the age as Ela. Her light brown colored hair was on average length. Her skin color was light brown and her eyes were dark green. She was pretty, quite a simple beauty. However, if in comparison, Ela was more beautiful in the eyes of Xyn.

At the moment she was carrying a sack of grains, but later lowered it to the ground when she reached Ela.

As the voice of the girl named Raelyn reached the ears of the ones beside the carriage, Cel frantically turned around to look.

"… Raelyn."

Cludio seemed to have noticed Cel's reaction, so he decided to do something about it.

"Oooh! Why are you even here Cel!? You're supposed to hang out with your friends! Don't worry! I'll be fine here."

The father said out loud as though he wanted everyone to hear him. He pushed Cel from the carriage to where Ela and the others were.

"—Father!"

"Go get her."

Cludio whispered on Cel's ear.

"—What?"

Before Cel could talk some more, he had already reached the group, and Cludio immediately went back to the carriage.

"H-Hi Raelyn." Cel said.

"Hello Cel, it's nice seeing you again."

"Ooooh? My big brother only greeted Rae? There are others here, so what's up with that?"

"S-Shut up!"

"Hahahahaha!"

Everyone in the group laughed out loud.

"Reminds me of the time of me and my wife."

The village chief said.

Amidst all that, suddenly there was a man rushing towards the village chief and he looked like he was in worry.

"Chief!"

The chief immediately turned around to look at the panicking man.

"What is it?"

"C-Chief! The B-Baron is here."

"What? Why would be here…? Dammit, what trouble would he bringing here now?"

Cludio placed his hands on the village chief's shoulders as though to ease him up.

"Stay back as I talk to him, Cludio. I don't want his attention thrown to you."

"All right."

Shortly after, a group of people was heading towards Xyn and the others. As they approached, the village chief walked forward in order to keep the Baron's distance from Cludio and the others.

There were a lot of armed guards surrounding a lone man. The guards were wearing their suit of armor and their swords on their hips, and others had their spears in hand.

The lone man in the middle was looking luxurious. He wore finely made coat and clothes, just like how nobles in the medieval age would wear. However, he didn't impress Xyn in the slightest.

Alongside the Baron was another man. From the looks of it, he might be perhaps the Baron's scribe. Also, he appeared to be one of those annoying right-hand man stereotypes.

That's a surprise, the noble isn't fat like I imagined him to be.

Xyn thought.

The group halted their movement when Ento the village chief approached them.

"To what do we owe the pleasure of you visiting us today, Lord Vick Shrim."

Hah! Vick Shrim? More like Lord DICK SHRIMP! Oh wait, the opposite way is better. SHRIMP DICK!

Xyn thought.

Instead of the noble to talk, his scribe spoke on behalf of the noble.

"The Baron himself wanted to see the harvest and how everyone is working! Also, as we are already here, we've come to tell you that you are to increase your production."

"I assure you, everything is working fine. However, I'm concerned about what you've said about the increase in production. To be short, I think it's impossible, especially when you just demanded an increase recently. Crops don't magically grow you know."

"Oh, isn't that a bit rude don't you think, village chief?"

The scribe said.

"Ah, I beg your pardon."

At the moment, Xyn could imagine the village chief having hateful comments in his mind. However, the chief had no choice but to hold his mouth.

"Very well. But I'm sure you'll think of a way."

Xyn's face twitch.

He is annoying, just the face alone is enough, but his tone annoys and irritates me. Damn, he thinks he's the boss or something.

Xyn didn't know why he was so worked up about this. But he was just so irritated. Well, maybe that was because that type of characters in shows and stories annoys and irritates him.

"Y-Yes."

"Also, we'll be collecting advance taxes the day after tomorrow so prepare."

"What? B-But… I understand."

The chief wanted to protest but he seemed to stop before he could fully say anything. Xyn understood why the chief didn't finish what he was about to say. That was because the village chief knew that he won't be able to change the Baron's decision. It would only be pointless, also it would highly likely to displease and anger the Baron, and that would only make things worse for the village.

"*cough*"

Out of the blue, there was a cough rang out. It sounded like it came from within the ranks of the Baron's guards.

The village chief was puzzled, so he took a look behind the baron. At that moment, his eyes went wide and was left speechless.

Xyn also took a look and it also surprised him.

A girl was sitting on the ground probably at the age of 18 or 19, all dirty and messy. She appeared exhausted and malnourished. She also looked all beat up. She had bruises all over her body. She was in a horrible state.

"Ah, we're also here to return her. You will likely need more people to work on the fields, so we brought her back."

The guards dragged her forward and threw her beside the chief.

The village chief was shocked for a second, then he kneeled down to aid the girl. There the village chief's eyes were full of contempt as he looked to where the Baron was.

"It's Elina…"

"Oh no…"

Xyn could hear whispers of the girl's name from Ela's group.

Xyn could imagine what the girl had been through. It was easy to imagine just by glancing at the woman.

How distasteful.

Xyn thought while biting his lip.

Even though Xyn feels no affinity to humans now, he could still be distasted about this kind of situation. Abusing, hurting, violating a woman, is just distasteful no matter where one look. True, he had killed many people, but what he did can be considered mercy compared to this.

Death was better than living while being abused and violated all of the time.

However, even though Xyn hated it, he still had no intention to act. He would just get in unnecessary trouble.

"Now then, I believe that will be all."

The scribed looked around as he narrowed his eyes.

"I thought you said everything is working fine. So why are they just standing around!? You peasants! Get back to work!"

Everyone frantically went into action.

As the scribed seemed to no longer have any interest to talk, the chief carried the girl to the carriage and slowly laid her to the ground having her back leaned on the carriage wheel.

"Elina, Elina."

The chief called unto the girl.

"She looks terrible, she needs immediate medical attention."

Cel said. At that moment, he grabbed something from the back of the carriage.

When Xyn caught a glimpse of it, it piqued his interest. Cel was holding a vial which contains green liquid within it.

When Cel returned to the girl, he immediately opened the vial.

"Wait that's a—"

"It's fine chief." Cludio said.

Then Cel had the girl drink the contents of the vial. Then shortly after, the girl's bruises and wounds began to wane.

"She should be fine now. But she's still exhausted, she'll need rest."

Xyn had an idea of what that vial was.

Let me guess, that was a potion. So, they have potion huh. Fascinating.

Indeed it was fascinating and also quite interesting. There were no such things as potions existed back to the old world. The world was filled with healing magic casters, so there would be no need for the potion.

That said, Xyn had read some old legends that mentioned healing potions. But for some reason, it vanished in the flow of time, and the way to create them were also lost. He had also heard that there were people trying to create potions through the way of mixing herbs and some with magic in mix with herbs, but it seemed to have ended in failure. If it was a success, then potions would have been for sale on streets all around.

There were also some that claimed to have made potions and sold it on the streets, but all ended to be fakes. In the end they were just herbal medicines and nothing like healing potions at all.

Furthermore, the majority of people didn't bother to recreate a potion due to the reason that healing magic was quite common. So wounds and injuries were mostly no trouble at all.

After that, Xyn noticed that the noble and the others were still standing there. Was there anything else they want.

Then the Noble pointed at someone among the people who were walking by them carrying grains. To be precise, the Baron pointed at one of the friends of Ela and Cel.

There the guards began their move and grabbed the one which the Baron pointed at.

"What are you doing? L-Let me go!"

The girl who was held by two guards struggled.

"Calm down girl."

The scribe said.

When the girl shouted, Cel, Cludio, Ela, Ento and the others immediately turned to look.

"R-Raelyn?" Ela quietly said.

"N-No. Not her, please." Cel quietly said.

Cel instantly stood up and walked towards Raelyn. However, he was held Cludio.

"What are you doing father?"

"You can't, you'll only get hurt."

"But that's Raelyn they're holding!"

Cludio looked away while still holding Cel's arm.

"N-No..."

Then Ela began to approach but was held by the chief.

"It would be worse for you girl if you continue."

"Dammit."

The Baron approached the seized Raelyn and held her cheeks with a nasty look on his face.

"What's your name?"

At that moment, Xyn had grasped the reason why the baron himself came to this town.

The baron was looking for another plaything. He was sick of the old one. So he came to choose someone she likes.

What a pig. Disgusting.

Xyn thought.

Raelyn remained silent, so the Baron asked her again.

"What is your name?"

At that moment, the Baron gripped both her cheeks.

"R-Raelyn Delna."

"Raelyn, I like that name. You know, I had an interest in you for a long time now. What do you say about coming to my mansion?"

"No! I will never go there in a million years! I will never come with someone like you!"

The Baron slapped her.

"You have no right to refuse. You will come with me."

"No! Unhand me!"

The Baron signaled the guards to take her. Then, as they were about to move, Ela shouted.

"Stop! Let her go!"

Idiot! Don't get their attention!

Xyn thought in his mind. This was bad, if a cute girl was seen by a pig like that noble over there, he will get interested and they will likely take her too. Xyn wouldn't just let a pig like him get a girl like her to just abuse and violate.

Besides, Ela was quite nice to Xyn, so Xyn unconsciously cared about her that he wouldn't let her fall to the hands of such pig.

Therefore, immediately after Ela shouted, Xyn went in front of Ela to cover her from the sights of the nobles and party.

The scribe seemed to have heard her, so he went to turn and look. He came to look at Xyn and the others.

"You have no business here!"

Then they went on.

Xyn moved to the side and looked at everyone.

They all looked so worried, then they seemed to be glancing at Xyn as though asking for help. However, they knew Xyn didn't want to get into trouble, so they couldn't straightly ask him.

Of course, Xyn still had no intention to help them. That would only bring trouble and there were no benefits that can be gained from helping them.

Xyn gazed unto the moving guards, then to the village. Then next to the people of the village.

Then, at that moment, Xyn's mind lit up. He thought of something. He got an idea.

A wicked smile cracked on his face behind the mask.

"Leave this to me."

Xyn told everyone.

"Criswell."

"Yes."
