1 Chapter 1: Prologue

Oksana

Her naturally red lips were wet and glistening from licking her lips in anticipation. Her long luxurious white hair hung down behind her framing her body perfectly and matching her pale, smooth, and perfect skin. She was in a black sleeping gown that was made from spider silk which hugged her every curve. Showing off her impressive chest, and perfectly rounded ass. Her arousal was obvious as her hard nipples were pressing almost painfully against her shirt almost begging to be released. She saw his eyes travel along her face and down to her chest, and she smirked as she saw his eyes linger there. It seemed her outfit had done its job well. Before she had been infuriated when he seemed to never notice her or even recognize her appearance, and seeing him now openly admiring her pleased her to no end.

The wind blew steadily through the opened window overlooking the ground level of the clan’s seat of power. In the blood lands, winds, clouds, and rain were a near-constant. And this night had all three. Despite the window being open, the room wasn’t cold.

In fact, Oksana’s private chambers were lit by a blazing fire that sparked and crackled as the flames eagerly consumed the dried wood. The light given off by the fire cast shadows throughout the walls of her chambers, yet her enhanced eyes could have seen in the room even if it was pitch black. All her attention however was fixed on the figure across the small table. Where the two of them sat and ate a small meal together. She had been busy of late, and hadn't been able to find the right moment to invite him to a private dinner with her. she wasn't even sure he would have accepted. She had finally found the right time and place to invite him to her chambers, and to her utmost delight, he had accepted.

The figure gazed right back at her. His pale red eyes, a contrast to her own pure blood-red gaze, bore into her, leaving no doubt of what he was thinking. It had taken her a while, despite all her ingrained beliefs and knowledge that she should be repulsed by this man, she couldn’t deny the simple truth. She wanted him and wanted him now. She shivered at the thought. She thought about all the times before they had been embarrassed by each other's attention. He had thrown her off her game almost immediately upon his arrival into her life, and she had struggled to figure him out. Even now she didn't fully understand him, but she had come to admire and desire him above all others. The idea that she would probably be sleeping with this half-blooded hunter sent a thrill of excitement through her body, and she felt a warmth spread through her and down to her lower body that had nothing to do with the heat radiating from the room's fire.

She knew he knew it as well. There was no mistaking the look in his eyes. She had seen that look before in other men, but never before in her life had she wanted someone as badly as she did now. The fact that she saw the same lust for her in his eyes made her heart beat even faster than it already was.

She had made sure she had dressed as seductively as possible when she had invited him to have a private meal with her. She was pleased to see he had worn the clothing she had ordered made for him. He looked ravishing in the formal wear of the pure-blooded vampires, and she drank in his appearance with great satisfaction.

“I remember a time not long ago when no matter how I dressed you never seemed to take a notice of any of my womanly charms. Look at you know, staring shamelessly,” she purred as she bit her lip, enjoying the effect she was having on him.

“I always noticed,” he said in an amused tone. “I just didn’t want to give you the satisfaction of knowing how beautiful I thought you were. Now though? If I haven’t said it already tonight, you are the most beautiful women I have ever met Oksana.”

Her cheeks colored at his words. She had heard those platitudes before from courtiers, former lovers, and sycophants trying to earn her favor. She had always revealed in those compliments, and though Assar’s compliment was blunt and not the usually poetic words most vampires used, she found that hearing them from him, made her realize just how empty all the compliments and platitudes she had received before had truly meant. She wanted him and she would take him now.

Before she knew what she was doing, she was leaning forward across the table. She never broke eye contact with him as she closed in. She could feel his breath against her face and could smell the scent of his desire radiating off him. She parted her lips slightly as she closed her eyes. He would be hers and only hers!
