1 The arrest

The crowd gathered around the scene, others straining to push forward to take a clear view.

Others engrossed on their chitchat pointing where a man slender, tall, dark in complexion was handcuffed and escorted by two police officers to a land cruiser parked not far from the highway.

He hobbled as he walked. His leg was severely injured from the scuffle with the cops. His face seemed like mashed potato while his bald head hissed to the midday sun.

You can only imagine what he looked like and the pain he must've felt.

His tattered clothes made many souls feel pity for him.

The shootout was very intense and fatal on that matter; two of the police officers were shot down. The shooter was middle-aged; those who knew him stood flabbergasted by the act.

Some who were not there would think the witnesses exaggerated the story. The scene that day was not congenial in any way.

Robert has been skulking around the area for a while, making keen people suspect what he was up to.

Though he was careful not to be seen, even the most successful criminals still have their flaws at moments. Though many people could pity him from the surface perspective, he was reaping what he sowed. The day's event affected many people in different ways and security.

The incident caused public outrage. The women flew up with words at the man as they paved the way for the police.

With every step, Robert took, he could feel that his presence sickened them. Still, despite knowing this, he impassively passed them without any feeling of remorse for what he did.

As soon as he was pushed inside the vehicle, the crammed people dispersed while others remained rooted at the spot in groups while the car sped away.

At the police station, Robert was taken through an old pavement that is rarely used with ordinary people in custody.

With the way things were going, it was sure it would not end well for him. It may seem that Robert was a psychopath because of his behavior and way of doing things, but still, he was a human being with blood and flesh. His heartbeat beat faster from each step he took in the dark pavement. There was a firm sound of dripping water in the distance.

The place was not that pleasing to the eye. It was so sticky and freaked him up. Not only was the place dark, but the cold was so scary as it penetrated through his skin as he wished he could cuddle himself close for comfort and warmth.

What he didn't know was the road ahead from the moment of his arrest would be hell on earth.

The cops stopped at the door and entered a code before tossing him inside. The room was so dark that you would not know if it was day or night after staying inside for several hours, especially after waiting at the light for a while. No matter how strong Robert tried to show on the surface, he was crept with fear and didn't know what would happen to him next.

Before he knew it, he was jerked up by one of the raged police officers. He elbowed him hard at the ribs. The officer's eyes were full of rage and red.

The suspect was frightened to death, mainly when the officer spoke in anger tremor traceable in his voice.

Though the room was dimly lit, he could see who hit him as he moaned in pain from the elbow he got. The other officer kicked him hard from the back and made him sit down on a metal chair and his arms tied to the chair.

The other officer went out and left the senior-most alone in the room to start with the interrogation, by all means, to get the most out of him of what happened earlier during the day.

Though the room was dimly lit, the cameras could clearly capture the entire scene from the special infrared lighting.

The officer moved to the end of the room and removed his jacket and threw it aside on the table at the center of the room, and sat on top of the table. His gun was well placed on the side of his gun sheath.

Robert sat vertically opposite the door and on the right side of the table.

Though they were only two in the room, he could feel fierce gazing from the shadows beyond the walls of the room. The officer lit a cigarette and puffed to his face.

"So Robert, are you going to tell us who you work for?" Asked the officer calmly but in anger

Silence enveloped them.

Robert remained calm and looked at the officer scornfully. The officer took another puff and smiled from the corners of his lips forcefully before landing a blow to Robert's face.

"Is this how you want to handle everything? Then I am in for it. Let's do whatever you want. I have got the whole day and night." Said the officer as he walked from the table to the corner of the room, talking a few more puff

"Waa! You are deaf and dumb now! Mmm," said Sergeant Michael looking down and putting off the cigarettes in his hand. Before Robert knew it, the officer flew to him, held his collar, and almost hit him to the wall still on the chair. He could say he was saved after two officers entered the room to stop him.

"Sergeant Michael! Hold it; he is not worth it; go out; I'll call you later." Said senior sergeant Rotich

Sergeant Michael paced up and down the room for a while before he stole a quick glance at the suspect and stormed out of the place.

"Sorry about Sergeant Michael. You can understand he is stressed about what happened to two of his men this morning," said sergeant Rotich as he unstuffed his hands from the chair

"You know if you hadn't killed two of his men, you would have an easy time here," continued Sergeant Rotich looking down at Robert as he folded his shirt.
