6 BLUE EYES AND RAVEN BLACK HAIR

Toni was seating on a couch in her pajamas looking over various puppy photos. She knew she'd have to go to the store at some point to actually buy one but she was dragging her feet a bit at the prospect. She heard the landline ring and wondered who it could be since both Tom and Claire always called her cell before coming over. She answered and heard Mr Scott's voice.

"You have a delivery Miss Mathews."

"I didn't order anything."

"It's a bouquet of flowers. Red roses."

"Please read the card for me."

"Um…" Mr Scott sounded confused and hesitated.

"It's OK, you can do it for now."

"It says, 'It was nice meeting you Miss Mathews, I hope to see you again.' It's signed Aidan."

"Umm OK. You can keep the flowers Mr. Scott and throw away the card."

"Thank you, Miss Mathews. Have a nice evening."

"You too Mr Scott."

After hanging up Toni wondered how Mr Booth found out where she lived and why on earth he would send her flowers. She would have to talk to Tom about this because it made her feel uneasy. Nobody knew where she lived; she kept to herself for a reason.

Unfortunately, the good manners that were beaten into her for as long as she could remember would not allow her to leave the card un-replied. She decided to write a simple note and send it to the office the next day.

Next day

Aidan made it into the office early. He had a lot of work to do and was not looking forward to the day at all. His evening was a complete disaster since he decided to go on the date his mother had set up. The girl was nice enough and very talkative. All he could think about throughout the whole evening was Antonia's bluer than blue eyes and raven black hair.

The day went pretty much as he had expected, long and tedious. He was planning on working through his lunch again but right before his lunch break there was a knock at his door.

"Enter."

His secretary walked in, holding a small envelope.

"This has just been delivered for you." She handed him the envelope and headed back outside.

Aidan looked at the envelope and the feminine handwriting. He was about to assume it was from his date last night but he caught a familiar scent, which got him questioning where he had smelled it before. He opened the envelope and stared and the three lines on the paper inside.

Thank you for the roses Mr. Booth.

It was nice meeting you too.

--Miss Mathews

"Mr. Booth?" He murmured in confusion. Was this an attempt to keep him at arm's length, trying to keep things professional?

The phone rang while he was still re-reading the note.

"Hello?"

"Hello Aidan, is the offer for dinner still open? My wife is back and insists upon it." Aidan heard Tom's deep-throated chuckle and a lady's giggle in the background. He assumed that must be the wife.

"Of course, how does tomorrow at my parents' house sound? 7pm?"

"Sounds wonderful. My wife says we will be bringing Toni along, I suppose she has managed to get her to come. I hope that's not a problem?"

Aidan could not stop the excitement rushing through his body and the face splitting grin that followed.

"That's not a problem at all. We'll see you tomorrow evening."

"Goodbye Aidan."

"Goodbye Tom."

Before hanging up he heard Mrs. Gerard demand the phone so she can call Toni.

Toni. I guess she must prefer the name with people close to her.
