1 Prologue

The Yin palace.

Among the myriad realms, who doesn't know what this grand name represent?

Thousand Melodies. Three thousand Voices. And over a hundred thousands songs. If one looked at all the melodies in the world, from newest to the oldest, there's not a single one that hadn't been recorded in the Yin Palace's Music registry.

Such a grand place usually filled with tranquility and peace was now crowded to the brim. If one looked at this scene from a high vantage point, they would see a queue stretching from the four directional gates, and stretching even beyond. The palace guards looked to be having a hard time controlling the enthusiastic crowds as they barricaded the palace entrance.

But even that didn't seem to dampen their spirits, as they enthusiastically called out to the master of the palace.

Watching this scene from above a balcony were two men.

The one on the right sighed, dejectedly. "This happens every time we hold a music conference. His majesty doesn't seem to be bothered by all this at all,"

His graying hair was piled up into a bun, and the wrinkles on his face didn't dampened his once dashing looks. He looked like a amiable man but anyone who knew him would no not to be fooled by his harmless look. This man's name was Wu Song Chi. The Head steward of the Yin Palace.

He had been in the Yin palace from a young age, even after he attained immortality, he still hadn't left the Yin Palace, opting to stay by 'his' side.

His companion, another middle aged man like him named Shen Jikong, smiled wryly. "It's not that he's bothered. He doesn't mind is more like it. He says,'It just goes to show how enthusiastic they are about learning',"

Black lines formed on his head, as Song Chi's lips twitched. "His majesty is really clueless, sometimes isn't he?" he asked.

Shen Jikong smiled. "It's just how he is, after all," he said. Thye were just about to turn back to commotion outside when a series of footsteps rapidly closed in on them.

Turning around, alertly, they were alarmed when the balcony doors were swung open from the inside.

BANG!

"Not good!"

Following that cry, a soldier stumbled in, his face wet with sweat. Song Chi and Jikong both looked at each other, and helped the soldier up. "What's wrong? Hey! Get a hold of yourself!" Song Chi shook the man.

The soldier jolted by the motion took in his surroundings then focused on the two men in front of him. "Grand steward! This is not good. His majesty-"

"What's wrong with his majesty?!" Not waiting for a reply, the panic stricken Song Chi dumped the soldier and rushed out the balcony.

The whole palace was in pandemonium as soldiers rushed here and there like headless chicken.

Ignoring them Song Chi soon arrived at a secluded courtyard where the center of the pandemonium was. Soldiers were standing around, puzzled, not knowing what to do while some had squatted beside the stone gate beating the ground with sticks.

As soon as they noticed Song Chi they stood up and saluted.

Frowning, Song chi grabbed a nearby soldier. "What the hell are you doing?! Open this gate!"

"B-but...his majesty-"

Dumping the soldier, he rushed forward and kicked the gates open. The other soldiers: "..."

BANG!

Wood splintered and the gate posts all had cracks running down their surfaces at the force of impact.

With cold sweat rushing down their backs, they followed after him.

The broken gates hung from the gate posts, forlornly, swinging and creaking.

As soon as Song Chi entered the courtyard the first thing he noticed was the fact that it was quiet. Although, his majesty normally liked the tranquility, but it wasn't to the point that not even a bird or a squirrel couldn't be seen.

With trepidation, he jumped over the threshold, and opened the door to his chamber.

Looking at the empty room before him, he felt his soul leave his body as he stood there, thunderstruck.

"YOUR MAJESTY!!!" a miserable cry sounded from the courtyard.

Poor Grand Steward.

All the soldiers sympathized with the old man.

Soon a rumor began to spread through the myriad realms that the Music Emperor of the Yin Palace had gone missing...
