5 Chapter 4: Guild

Information obtained by the author:

Vengeful Ghost: Its mental maturity stops at the moment of its death. But this does not prevent them from obtaining or learning more knowledge as time goes by. They can become more serious and intelligent, more bitter or resentful especially with their murderers, but deep down they will always have the same personality or the way they act will be the one they had before they died. Many of them lose their innocence and ignorance of the world; others may get lost in their thirst for revenge and anger.

For example, if someone dies at the early age of 8, they may become more intelligent, more bitter, more cynical, or more regretful. But they will always remain a child for eternity.

Michael tried to exert force on his restraints in an unsuccessful attempt to escape. He couldn't do anything, he couldn't do anything. He didn't even try to beg his sister not to kill him with the metal spoon in front of him.

"The scooper only hurts for a moment"

He could hear the sirens in the room going off for a few seconds. Before he felt the cold, rough metal spoon sink as deep as it could go, piercing his organs before the spoon began to rise breaking the entire sternum that held his blades together, then the spoon violently jerked back, taking most of their visors.

He tried to scream in absolute AGONY, but his scream of pain only lasted a few seconds before he began to choke on his blood. The pain was unbearable. The blood from his body splashed all over the floor and kept coming out of his body.

He felt the restraints slip away before he fell back into an awkward position. For a few seconds, he could see his organs and fragments of his tickles broken across the floor and the metal spoon.

He tries to think of something coherent, anything. But all he could focus on was the pain. He felt like she had been doused with gasoline and set on fire or smashed into a million pieces.

God, he wanted to scream in pain or call for help, but he could only let out a pathetic groan. He could only lie still feeling numb, with tears in his eyes that he couldn't wipe away. He couldn't ask for help and no matter how much he begged any merciful being for someone to help him.

But, no one came for him.

He was completely alone. Suffering in AGONY.

=====================================

I woke up with a start, gasping hard as I felt a phantom pain all over my stomach. I gritted my teeth as I gripped my abdomen tightly with both hands and made sure my entire body was in order.

Tears began to accumulate in my eyes although they never came out of them. I was only able to burn myself in this state for a few minutes before the pain vanished as suddenly as it came.

I took several deep breaths to calm my racing heart which was pounding to the point where I thought it was going to pop out. Once I was able to successfully calm down, I wiped away the tears in my eyes that were beginning to bother me.

Damn, I was tired. But I was sure that I couldn't go back to sleep even if I tried. It's been a long time since I had a nightmare about my death. I didn't even have one when I ran into Molten Freddy or Scrap Baby again when Henry and I captured them so we could lead them into a death trap that was made entirely for them.

I got up from my bed and put my bare feet on the floor. The cold of the marble floor made me shiver briefly. I quickly head to the bathroom to take a shower. I started to undress and then let the water run over my hair.

I sighed in satisfaction as I felt the warm water relax my shoulders. I spent a good couple of minutes, not thinking about anything, just letting the water flow all over my body and listening to the relaxing drops of water.

Once I finished showering properly, I dried myself and then dressed in my uniform, leaving me last to put on my boots. The good thing about this uniform is that it was kind of flexible, so it wouldn't tear easily. Henry designed it specifically for me and the case that I had to face the robots in a simulator pizzeria.

I didn't even look in the mirror to fix my hair. Accustomed, I just ran my hands through my hair until I felt it fixed, then I tied my hair with the tail that he brought, to leave the tail of my hair, I did it at the same time that I went to the kitchen.

I looked for a piece of paper and a pencil, and then wrote a note to the goddess Persephone about going to the Guild and telling her about the Valis that she lent me (I stressed in the note that I was going to return it since I did not feel comfortable taking money borrowed)

With a weary sigh, I looked at the note I had written.

"I went to the Guild very early to get information, about many things in Orario. So I'll spend a lot of time reading and then buy luggage with the Valis you lent me so I can go to the dungeon equipped. I'll return it to you I promise. One another thing. I'll be late so don't worry too much. If it can calm you down, I have experience in survival...

.... Sincerely: Mike"

I could probably write a better note, but I figured there was no need to be so formal with the goddess, so I nodded in satisfaction with myself, then stuck the note on the fridge. Before heading to the exit of the house, I grabbed the white bear mask and immediately put it on my face, then left the house.

Once I was outside I looked up at the sky, which was still dark because I had woken up too early from the nightmare. But I was used to walking in the dark, when you work as a night watchman and fight against killer robots for survival, you have to learn how to handle yourself in the dark.

I was walking for quite a while before I reached the Guild. I didn't meet many people, maybe two or three. But for everything else, the streets were empty, to the point that the silence was quite eerie. The only thing I could hear was my breathing.

I don't know if this was a good thing for me or a bad thing. But I didn't give it much thought, luckily the Guild was open even before dawn so I wouldn't have to wait in case it was closed.

I entered the Guiland d, and it was almost empty, I could see some people who wear medieval armor as clothing and I could notice that they also carry different types of weapons, such as a sword, Warhammer, a spear. The row where the employees were serving the adventurers was mostly empty.

I can feel the gaze of several people when they saw me enter, but I ignored them. Instead,d I approached one of the employees. She was a girl who seemed to be my age (that of the body), she has silver hair and soft violet eyes, she was quite beautiful and I could tell that she was also an elf.

Now that I thought about it, almost all the women I've come across seem like supermodels. But although I was curious about this aspect of this world, I didn't take much importance to it, just a fact that seemed curious to me.

When I got close enough to the girl, she looked at me with a wary expression, narrowing her eyes suspiciously before she commented "Good evening...can I do something for you, sir...?"

I nodded, understanding what she wanted, and raised my mask, for a few moments showing her my face briefly, before putting my mask back on for comfort "Mike Schmidt. And if I come to register as an adventurer and also look for information about Orario because I'm new to these places" I said softly, but enough for her to hear me.

She looked me up and down with a frown. "Are you sure you want to be an adventurer Mr. Schmidt? The death rate of adventurers has increased with Evilus around. So, you don't just have to worry about the monsters in the dungeons. "If not also from Evilus's ambushes. No offense, but you'll most likely die" the silver-haired girl was brutally honest with her opinion. "But that's just my honest opinion"

I frowned at the brutal warning. Persephone already told me about this. Adventurers regularly die in the dungeon for different reasons, whether it's going recklessly, or being hastily a horde of monsters. And the death rate increased much more after Zeus and Hera Familia were defeated, and many adventurers were killed in the dungeon by Evilus.

That is why it was recommended to travel to a group party. Because if you were alone and Evilus ambushed you, then your lifetime only ended there. The only thing that would save it is being a high-class adventurer. But that was just another concern for ordinary people and those who were alive.

I wasn't alive, so I wouldn't have to worry about dying. Even if someone from Evilus has a fire-breathing ability, I would have to be hot enough to destroy me, otherwise, so I would just regenerate myself with my AGONY.

"Yes, I'm sure," I replied without hesitation, I needed to get stronger if I wanted to stop this organization called Evilus, not to mention the Tower of Babel, specifically in the dungeon. I feel the same feeling of unnaturalness. The same feeling that I felt with the pizzerias or abandoned places that I visit. "I am also the first member of my Familia, so I would like to register my Familia, as a Scouting Familia."

The elf girl just sighed in disappointment before she spoke, "I see... so we have a lot of things to do, starting with adding your Familia to the Guild's Familia registration system, then we have to get all the personal information. Once your Familia is registered, your goddess will have to come to the Guild to confirm your legitimacy within 1 month. If your goddess does not show up, your adventurer application will be considered invalid and you will be added to the adventurer blacklist." Elf girl explained the process to me while warning me of the dire consequences of lying.

I just nodded agreeing with the information "I understand and I don't think you have to worry about my goddess not showing up, I will inform my goddess so that she can come when she is free"

The silver-haired elf girl nodded professionally "Very well... Come, we will go to one of the meeting rooms so that we can fill in all your information and add your Familia to the system" The girl began to walk to the back. from the reception and took me to one of the rooms that were in the side corner.

The door was open and as we entered another Guild girl took the place of the silver-haired elf girl. The room was empty and I could only see more Guild people at the reception which was in the corner of the room where there was a pile of documents.

The room was furnished with green sofas and a table between them. Very similar to how they furnish fast food restaurants. With several pairs of sofas and a table in between them.

The elf girl told me to wait a few moments before walking to the reception room and looking through the documents there. When she took the documents that we would need, I went back to where I was waiting for her.

God, that was a lot of paperwork. Not that I can complain, if I wanted to be an adventurer I had to complete all those documents. Fortunately, I was used to doing paperwork when I was running the simulator pizzeria with Henry.

"You can have a seat if you like" The elf girl nodded to one of the sofas that were in front of the sofa that she just sat on, at the same time she put the papers on the large table that was in front of the two sofas so that we can correctly fill out the documentation. Paying attention, I took a seat on the sofa that was in front of her. "My name is Sophie... As you Mr. Schmidt are the first member of his Familia, you will be entitled to the services of the Guild advisor at no cost, although there has to pay the guild tax on time." She commented passing me the documents.

"I see... so that means someone will be advising me. Do they only advise on the dungeon or also on other things? This for how long?" I asked her.

"You can obtain any information that is not private. The counseling time is until you no longer want to be counseled or in case you die in the dungeon" she explained to me before pointing with her hand, to the marks that I found on the document. "All you have to do is fill in the requested information and also sign the dotted lines with an X next to it. Everything else is up to me, unfortunately. And be sure to tell what kind of Guild Advisor you want. Don't do anything stupid to write. whatever or anything" She explained the procedure to me and warned me not to be smart or stupid.

I raised my hands in surrender while smiling funny under my mask "I don't plan to do something like that" I commented as I took the papers and put them on the table before me. I also took the pencil that the Guild lent me. The mask didn't prevent me from reading so I kept it on.

Do not delay in filling in my information. In name as Mike Schmidt. Race as Human. My age is like 18 years. The adventurer level, the name of my Familia. And my old job as a restaurant employee. There were also other data such as blood family in case I die, or my family status, but those were not mandatory to fill out, so I left those blank.

I began to sign quickly in the places where it was necessary and finally I added the description of the person that I want to advise me.

"I want to get a person who is very well informed about Orario, its situation, its shop,s and its restaurants. Also, who is informed about all the dangers that the dungeon offers? I want him/her to have a completely professional relationship with me and to be serious with its work."

I was still missing a page that was there, so I quickly went to this one to finish the documentation and what was on the page surprised me "A math test?" I said confused and curious, breaking the silence in which we had both been a few moments ago.

"If it is to verify if people can do mathematical exercises since 35% of the population does not know how to read, write, much less do mathematics, if one of the people does not know how to do mathematical exercises, a report will be given to their adviser so that there can teach it, we do it so that the adventurer in question is not cheated or deceived. Since advisors receive a bonus if the Families entrusted to them meet certain goals." Sophie explained.

"That makes sense." And the truth is that the Guild depends entirely on the adventurers, so having more adventurers registered in the Guild makes more profit. And it also serves so that the advisers do not take advantage of the illiteracy of the people. Look at the fundamental exercises.

It didn't take me three minutes to complete the exercises. This was too easy, not for nothing I was studying mechanics and robotics all the years that I spend isolated. I made Helpy my assistant ithe n simulator pizzeria. I was proud to have built that robot.

Now that I thought about my "son" I could tell I was beginning to miss him. Maybe you can get the materials to build it again. Since I have the plan in my head perfectly memorized.

"I guess this is it" I commented handing her all the documents "I'm not sure the address where I'm residing at the moment. But my goddess will complete that part of the information when she comes to the guild"

Sophie grabbed mynow-completedd documents reviewing them. She then put them in a strange-looking box strange-looking (toaster and printer of some kind) that she brought over while she was filling me the document forms and putting the pages in different slots in the box (except the math test), then she pushed the button. The box started glowing like a light show and then y ejected an Identification card with all my details on it.

Sophie then took out the documents and put them back in order, she grabbed the identification card and began to speak "All the paperwork is done and it seems that everything is in order Mr. Schmidt" then she handed me the identification card "This is the Guild identification card that you must present so that you can deliver all your Monster Drops. Also, it gives you access to obtain public information from the other Families" Sophie explained to me.

"How long will the process take to get my adviser?" I asked, although my hopes weren't very high, I still hoped it wouldn't take too long. I needed to get money as soon as possible to buy all the necessities that I lacked.

"In these times there is no need to wait too long. At least a few hours minimum or a day maximum. The number of adventurers joining has dropped drastically over time. As far as the Guild can afford, an adviser of the Guild gets an adventurer in charge much faster than in the times before"

That was a relief, but the way she brought it up made me a little uneasy. She didn't say it deliberately, but she hinted that the reason fewer people have become adventurers is because of the increased mortality of adventurers. Therefore, by lowering the number of adventurers, the guild can afford it much faster than its adviser manages an adventurer much easier. Since the advisors have many fewer adventurers under their charge due to the increase in deaths.

Don't comment, because I didn't know what to say, instead deliberately changed the topic "While I'm waiting for my advisor, can I get information from the guild library?" I asked.

Sophie blinked. "What kind of information are you looking for?" She looked at some of her coworkers and they had a chat just by looking at each other, each of them nodded. "At the moment the Guild is quite unoccupied and many advisors are free. So I could help you find the information you need. You would only have to leave your documents for processing"

"Ah. Well... I need a map of Orario that has important locations, you know where the shops are, things like that. Also, it may seem strange, but I'm not familiar with Orario's pricing so I could easily get scammed by anyone."

"I see. So I can help you with that, please wait a few moments while I leave your documents and look for the information you need" She got up from the sofa before handing my documents to another of the employees who were in the room, they talked for a few moments before the employee and Sophie went their separate ways.

I gave a tired sigh before relaxing on the comfortable sofa while I waited. I put my arms outstretched on the head of the sofa and crossed my legs while my head faced the ceiling. To distract myself, I began to drum my fingers on the head of the sofa and closed my eyes as I thought about my next action.

Although I can wait for an advisor to report back on what I might find in the dungeon that would mean I needed to be patient. Something I can't afford with my lack of money, I also didn't want the goddess to spend more than necessary on me. Since I didn't like it, I couldn't contribute anything. Especially since I've been on my own since I was 16 years old. I still remembered the day my father abandoned me only to send me a message two years later. In he said that I could find out what had happened to my sister Elizabeth.

I snapped my teeth in frustration. No matter how much I tried to focus on what was happening in the present, my mind always drifted back to the past. I felt that the chains of the past refused to go and every time I pulled with all my might to try to break them, the chains only got that much tighter and more suffocating.

I couldn't help but laugh at how fucked up my mind was. I found it ironic.

I could already see it, this day was going to be long and tiring. Full of adrenaline and terror.

Just another normal day for Mike Schmidt.
