10 Danmachi with analytic eyes Chapter 10

A day has passed and as Arnold was sleep Tsubaki came in 2 more times to see how he was doing. At the same time, Hephaestus had gotten things set up to give him a small manner next to Tsubaki's home. It is now mid-afternoon and Arnold starts to move. Hephaestus seeing this stops working on her blueprints and heads over to the couch where he was sleeping and says "good morning sleepy head." with a small smile on her face.

~Arnold POV~

after walking up I realize that I have a lot of knowledge on ruins and what they do upon opening my eyes I hear someone telling me good morning and look to the source of the voice as I do I see Hephaestus not wearing her eye-patch and see both of her eyes one is a bright fire-like red and the other is crimson blood-like red I then see the small smile on her face and smile back and say "I must apologize but for how long was I sleeping?"

Hephaestus just laughs and smiled largely "You were out for a whole day. I did not think you were going to sleep for that long. Are you OK?"

I just smile sheepishly and says "Ya turns out that the guy that gave me that spell also game me some knowledge on crafting ruins to help me in my pursuit to be a good blacksmith and craftsman it seems that I need to be asleep for my mined to absorb all the knowledge of the ruins. But I feel like although I know what they can do I still don't the best way to use them but I think it is a start." I just start to laugh after saying that.

Hephaestus's eyes widened looking at me and grab a pin and paper and come over to me and say in a serious tone "Can you show me one of these ruins that you learned?" I then take the paper from her and start to draw a ruin that does Mana absorption after I finish the ruin we both can see a lot of mana going into the ruin then exiting the other side of the paper. Hephaestus then grabs the paper and looks at it and then back at me. Not knowing what to say she just keeps looking at the paper and back at me. After a short time, I clear my throat and ask "Is that ruin that impressive?"

Hephaestus looks back at me and says "yes, yes it is. I have never seen something like this and it would help to make a lot of weapons and armor that could save a lot of lives." after hearing her I am stunned and ask "do you guys not have a way to make a weapon that pulls mana out of the air to aid the user of the weapon?" Hephaestus looks at me and says "No all weapons rely on the mana of the user to activate any effect they have, or the affected is passive and does not require mana."

shocked at what I was just told I ask "So what do we do now do we keep this a secret or slowly introduce this to the world as a high end carving or something?"

Hephaestus hearing this looked at him and says "for now we need to start by teaching you how to smith and do some other crafting thing so, for now, we will just not talk on the topic as it will be some time before you can introduce something like this. At the same time, I may ask for help on some of my blueprints and see what else you can add with your ruins to make my weapons better, so I do expect you to come over to chat and to get some lessons about smithing from me."

After talking a little bit more about some of the ruins he knows and some applications to use it and from there Hephaestus turns the conversation over to where he will be staying as well as to give him his first lesson in smithing. "For now let's see what I can show you in forging." as she says this she pulls a lever next to a bookshelf and the bookshelf slides to the left shows a room right next to this one. As I walk to the room I see a forge and then the fire in it at that moment a strong headache strikes me and I get some important information about the flame in the forge one of it was that it was starved of fire elemental mana and that all it was getting Hephaestus divinity and that it needed the same amount of fire elemental mana to make the flame at its peak.

Hephaestus after seeing me slightly stumble after I looked at the fire in her forge she then looks at me and asks "Is everything okay?"

I then look at her and say "yes I am fine but it looks like the fire in that forge could use some help?" after saying this I ask with a concerned look if she had anything highly mana conductive properties that could withstand the fire. She then looks at me and asks why I would need something like that I then tell her that the fire is starved of fire elemental mana and that I would like to help it and know some ruins that can give it a steady feeding of the elemental mana that it needs bit I will need to carve it in to in a way that it can feed the fire from the ruin and that is why I need something that it will not melt.

Hephaestus shocked that I can do something like that look at me and says "although it may not look like it the flame can choose to not melt something if it so feels and something like that it should see it as something that helps it and would probably not melt it." after hearing this I then as her for a piece of paper and a pin and tell her that it would be best if she makes it and give it to the fire and start to draw 2 Mana absorption ruins linked to 4 magic stabilization ruins that linked to a strong fire Elemental ruin and tell her that the thing she uses to draw the ruins is what needs to have the hi magical conductivity and that what it sits on does not matter. She then pulls out some kind of brick and start to carve the symbols and Link points into it and then bring some mithril out and starts to bring it to a melting point and then after melting it into a liquid then carefully poured it in the divots in the brick making certain that the connection is solid and smooth as soon as she finishes linking them flame elements start to come from the ruin and she puts it in the forge as fast as she can. The fire in the forge seeing the flame elements showing up in such mass greedily starts to consume them strengthening the fire at a rapid rate.

Hephaestus after seeing this was shocked and so was I after seeing it I go straight for another piece of paper and start to draw something to stop excess flame elements to cause any problems by converting them into neutral mana particles and then tell her she needs to make 4 of these and to set them around her Forge.

Hephaestus then looks at me and asks me "why it looks like it is doing what you told me it should do?" I then look at her and say "although it is doing what it needs to do this is to make sure that if it makes more than what is need for the forge's flame that the flame elements do not cause problems and set things on fire. Basically, these are a safety precaution." Hephaestus now knowing where I am coming from starts to make 4 more bricks that will keep her and her home safe and thank me for giving me a heads up and a way to keep her and those who come by safe.

After Hephaestus finish makes and places the other 4 brick she finally gets started teaching me forging. Starting with how to make an ingot and showing me every step needed to do so and she turns to me and says a small smirk on her face "OK now it is your turn to try. Don't worry I'll be here to correct you when you make a mistake."

Taking ore from where she told me to I then started the process as she showed me and was using my eyes to the max to know when to pull it out of the fire to how much slag was still in the ore. By the time I had clean the ore, it was for the part pure and then I started to turn it into an ingot and at the end of it, I had 70% of what was there at first. She then looked at me and says "although you did not make mistakes you still wasted more than you should have, overall I think you did a good job given the material you were using for now I think it is a good start. I think that will be all for today. Plus Tsubaki should be here soon to take you to the guild to get you registered."

hearing what she told me I just nod my head and start to ask her if when I am there if I could sell some of the things that I and Snow got when we were in the forest.

At that time my words start to trail off and I then look at Hephaestus and ask in a slow tone "where is Snow?"

Hephaestus starts to chuckle and say "Don't worry he's with one of my guards, and that guard is a Tamer and has been taking good care of him. I can ask him to bring them in if you would like?"

looking at her I say that that would be nice. As soon as I say this she then goes to the door and asks the guard that is just outside to have the guard that is with Snow to have them come into her office. As soon as Snow sees me he heads straight for me and I go for my backpack and get some deer jerky and give it to him and start to scratch behind his ears and pet him he then sits next to me. At that time Tsubaki shows up and ask if we have talked about what we needed to and if it was time for me to go to the guild and get registered. As well as to show me where my new home will be.
