44 Friendship

"However, I find your presence here to be a positive influence. The winds of change are not confined to Ais and myself alone. I've observed Riveria and Lefiya engaging in relentless training, each driven by their own unique... desires and aspirations."

As Finn glanced away, I sensed a hint of concern, perhaps anticipating my disdain toward Lefiya's infatuation with Ais. However, I harbored no concern over such matters.

Lefiya was nothing more than a fleeting annoyance, a buzzing wasp that posed no real threat. I had no reason to invest any worry or attention towards her.

If she were to cross my path, I would simply squash her without hesitation.

"I understand. Strengthening the Familia is indeed crucial, for it ensures..." I replied, only to be abruptly interrupted by Finn's interjection.

"Ais' safety, yes, I am well aware of your unwavering dedication and protective instincts towards Ais, Ren."

His words resonated with an unspoken understanding between us, emphasizing the shared dedication to protect Ais above all else.

I acknowledged his words with a nod.

"Finn, you are an exceptional Captain for the Loki Familia. Even though you may have had reservations about provoking me, when Ais charged into battle, you swiftly followed suit without hesitation. While you questioned the sharpness of your spear, I believe that doubting oneself is not the path to mastery. Embrace the confidence in your skills, and you will shine brightly above all others... except, of course, for Ais."

My words seemed to convince him, and he reciprocated with a nod of his own.

"Yes, I came to realize this as well when I began desiring greater strength from my spear. One day, you and I shall engage in a true sparring session. You will not be able to treat my spear as a mere plaything to slap away anymore."

There was a flicker of determination in his gaze as if he resented my nonchalant disregard for his abilities.

I couldn't help but let out a chuckle, amused by his unwavering resolve.

He extended his hand, a gesture that seemed to imply a request for a handshake, and I obliged.

As our hands met, his voice carried a warm tone, accompanied by a smile.

"Welcome to the Familia, Ren Von Seraphis. I hope our journey as comrades in this adventure will be filled with joyous and fulfilling experiences. While it's possible that, with your true power, you may perceive us all as nothing more than a triviality, you will always be one of us. That was the decision we mutually reached."

It must have been quite a struggle for Lefiya and Bete to come to terms with this development. However, they seemed to reluctantly accept it.

But of course, their reactions paled in comparison to Finn's overwhelming desire to have me as a member of the Familia. Well, I suppose that arrangement will suffice.

And so, on this momentous day, a new adventurer formally and informally joined the ranks of the Loki Familia. It was also the day that marked the beginning of a genuine friendship between Ren Von Seraphis and Finn Deimne.

"...Ren?"

I was abruptly pulled out of my thoughts by the sweet sound of my Angel's voice calling my name. Finn's grin widened, and he playfully swatted my hand away.

"Go on, Ren. See her. But wipe that mournful expression off your face first."

His laughter echoed in the air, and I couldn't help but shake my head, joining in the lighthearted moment.

Though my devotion to Ais had given me the strength to endure centuries of training, it also had its downsides. Every moment spent away from her now felt like a void in my existence as if my life had come to a standstill.

Perhaps, during those moments...

"Finn, since you're so eager to enhance your spear skills, how about we spar when I have some free time? You seek growth, don't you?"

His amusement transformed into seriousness, and he respectfully lowered his head.

"Yes, whenever I'm not occupied, feel free to ask me to spar. I accept your offer."

With the terms established, I bid him farewell and made my way to Ais.

As I approached her, I noticed her adorable confusion, her head slightly tilted to the side.

Without hesitation, I reached out and took her hand in mine, offering her a gentle smile.

"Don't worry, Ais. We didn't argue or anything of the sort..."

I recounted the events that had transpired, both of us concealing our presence with my illusions as we headed toward Orario.

For some reason, on that particular day, my heart felt lighter than ever before.
