6 Chapter 5: Application Process

Ryner and I got in one of the many lines leading up to the front desk.

After we did so we steadily moved forward, seeing many adventurers come and go as we did so. Though I have not spotted anyone from the main series yet.

Well I know most of them haven't arrived in Orario yet and will only do so over the next decade, but still I was hoping to at least see someone from the Loki familia.

Eh, it is what it is.

Since I will soon be an adventurer myself I'll run across them eventually, whether inside the dungeon or out.

Of that I have no doubt.

Eventually Ryner and I arrived at the front desk. The moment we did so the male guild employee looked at us, a perfect smile on his face.

But I know its fake.

Not that I am upset at all. He's a guy who works in public service. If he let his true emotions show he would probably be out of a job.

I know, since I worked in customer service one summer back in my last life. I plastered so many fake smiles on my face during that time I'm surprised it didn't get stuck.

On that note, concerning my past life I can't remember any personal details about the people I knew.

My family or friends.

I know I had them I just can't remember anything about them. The only thing I remember clearly is miscellaneous information.

Which is definitely the One Above All's doing.

Though its for the best. Thanks to this I can focus on living my second life without any longing feelings about my previous one holding me back.

"Yes, how may I help you two young men today?" He asked Ryner and I.

"We came today to see about becoming adventurers." I told the guild employee.

When I did so he looked directly into my eyes.

I stared right back, not flinching or backing down in the slightest.

He probably thinks I'm messing with him. But I'm not. Not by a longshot.

"Is there a problem sir?" I asked him.

"Yes, is there a problem?" Ryner added. Looking the male guild employee in the eyes as well.

He continued staring at us for several seconds, until finally he shook his head. "No problem at all boys. However connecting those who want to become adventurers with familia is not my area of expertise. Wait a moment while I get someone to assist you in the matter." The male guild employee told us. He then walked off.

Ryner and I then only had to wait for a few minutes before the male employee returned with another person.

She is a female, about 18 or 19 years old. She has fiery red hair, and yellow eyes. As well as ears and a tail. Along with big breasts and a resting bitch face.

...

What?

It's the truth ok.

The guild employee uniforms hardly leave anything to the imagination, and the girl does have a face that says she wants to be anywhere else but in this situation at the moment.

As I looked at the girl it only took me a few seconds to recognize her.

She's Rose Fannett. A werewolf with a reputation for being a bitch in the future.

But I know that's really anything but the case. She's hard on the outside but soft on the inside. The only reason she acts cold is because she's seen too many of her assigned adventurers die.

'Thank you wiki pages, you are a life saver.' I thought. Since if I didn't love to read those in my last life I never would've known who Rose is.

"Boys allow to introduce you to the one who will be helping you for the rest of your time here at the guild. An associate of mine, Rose Fannett." The man explained to us.

Right after he did so Rose looked at both Ryner and I, only raising a brow as she did so. Still wearing a mask of indifference.

"Sup." I said.

"Hey." Ryner said.

Rose continued to simply say nothing and stare at us. Several more seconds passed by before she finally spoke.

"Greetings." She said. "The name is Rose. Follow me." She instructed.

Rose then walked from behind the counter and started walking, Ryner and I following behind her as she did so.

A few minutes later the three of us arrived in a private booth and took seats on couches opposite from each other.

"Ok then. Are you kids here playing some kind of joke, or did someone put you up to this?" Rose asked me.

"Put us up to what?" Ryner asked.

"Coming in here and saying you want to become adventurers." Rose said.

"Nope." I said. "It was all us. The two of us only." I said.

"I see." Rose said. "And you're sure about this?"

"Yes." I said, looking Rose in the eyes as I did so.

"I am as well." Ryner spoke.

Rose looked at Ryner and I for several seconds after we re-confirmed our resolve to become adventurers. Say nothing at all.

But eventually she just sighed.

"Ok. I got you." Rose said. "So then, I take it neither of you has a familia you are particularly interested in joining?"

"We have no prospects at all." Ryner said.

"What he said." I added. "That's why we came to the guild today to get a list of potential familia that might accept us." I explained.

"Sure, give me one moment." Rose said.

She then stood up and left the private booth. Once she did so Ryner looked at me.

"Hey, doesn't she seem kind of like a bitch?" He asked me.

"Well sort of. But everyone has their own circumstances." I said. "And she's going to help us either way so I really have nothing to complain about."

Especially since I know the reason for Roses behavior. However I can't tell Ryner that.

In fact I have no intention of ever revealing my past life to anyone. That would open up a whole can of worms that can destroy this world itself and I will not be the cause of it. I also don't want people hunting me down for what's inside my head.

So yeah, my lips will always be sealed.

Ryner and I only had to wait for a moment before Rose returned with a stack of papers. Sitting down she slammed them onto the table and then slid them over to us.

"Ok. Here is a list of familia that might currently accept you two." She told us. "Look through the list, and while you're at it fill out these forms as well." Rose said. Taking out two forms from her pocket and placing them in front of Ryner and I.

They called for basic information.

Place of birth, date of birth, age, race, etc...

Basically its this worlds version of a job application.

Once Rose set them before Ryner and I we went to work filling them out. Getting them filled out easily. As soon as we were done we handed them back to Rose who began reading them, definitely checking for any errors.

Her eyes widened a fraction once she was done reading.

"You are both orphans from Daedalus Street?" She asked us.

"That's right." I said.

"We are." Ryner asked. "Is that an issue?"

"No." Rose said.

"Alright then. Time to get started." I said.

I then started looking through the list of familia Rose had provided Ryner and I.

As I did so I noted most of them were familia I never even heard of. But then again Danmachi only focused on a handful of gods and Orario is crawling with hundreds. A a majority of them each with their own familia no doubt. The list I am reading right now proves it.

Which just goes to show how big the world of Danmachi truly is.

Moving on.

I continued reading the list noting certain familia to try and apply for, but also noting certain ones to stay as far away from as possible.

Like the Apollo and Dionysus famalia's.

One is run by a perverted stalker who will do anything to stick it into the whole of the one he desires at the time.

While the latter gets his jolly's causing the children in his familia pain. He is also one of the major big bads of the main series so getting involved with him is a definite no-no.

Continuing to read the list of familia I noted neither the Freya of Loki familia are on it.

Well the former I am not surprised about, but the latter is a group I thought would jump at the chance to get recruits.

Or maybe that's only in the future.

Since the current Loki familia is not the same as the one I know.

Deciding to stop thinking about that subject for now I went back to reading the list of familia and found several I wished to apply for, Ryner doing the same.

Once we were done we handed the list back to Rose.

"Alright. I'll check in with these familia and see if they are willing to accept you two." She told us.

"Thank you." I said.

"Yes, thank you Ms. Rose." Ryner told her.

"Sure. Now you may leave." Rose said.

Once she did so Ryner and I left the guild.

Today being a good day in my book.'

A smile on my face I began running a bit back towards home.

Only for a person to round the upcoming alley and for me to crash into them, causing us both to fall over.

Though thankfully we have both fallen on our butts.

"Ow." I said, standing up. Rubbing my ass as I did so. "Sorry." I said to the person I bumped into. "I got a little carried away..." I trailed off.

Since now I finally have a good look at the person I just ran into.

Sky blue eyes, golden-blonde hair, pristine white skin as well elf ears and a cute face.

Her hair is much longer and she's younger, the same age as me. But there is no doubt in my mind about the person I am looking at right now.

Ryuu Lion.

One of my top five waifu in my last life and the person I want to date in this world no matter what.

This day just keeps getting better and better.
