12 Scams

The distinct blood red eyes were spinning unique to this world. They were focused forward as he continued down the cave-like corridor. The man had white hair pulled into a ponytail and most of his clothes were black in contrast. Lightly armored was an understatement. He wasn't really wearing any prioritizing quick strikes and elusiveness against his opponents. At the moment though, he was targeting a particularly juicy prey.

'Nia, it's just up ahead right? You marked it like I asked?' Bell was trying to double check his little compass map in the corner of his vision. (Its essentially a HUD but without health or any of those things.)

*As requested the target has been marked. It's yellow opposes to the red of normal enemies.*

Hearing her answer, Bell continued stalking closer to the target. 'Alright, lets make the big bucks. I always hated get rich quick scams, but this might just work!' as he said that he turned the corner and saw his prey. It's a jack bird known for their golden egg drops that can earn a familia quick money. It looked like a rooster with yellow green feathers. However, it was already facing him when he first laid eyes on it.

Not wasting anytime, it turned to dash the opposite direction. Bell cursed his own luck and took off after. The chase was short and unsuccessful.

"Haaaah Haah hah." Bell was panting on the dirt floor. "Son of a bitch. I hate that bird. This isn't working at all. Why won't it just let me kill it!?"

*Advice against attempting to chase it were all dismissed. This on relishes in being right.* Nia was gloating.

"Yeah yeah. Let's just take our stuff and go. I already have a bag full of stones anyway," staggering forward, Bell's white bangs were sticking to his forehead because of the sweat. He had already been in and around the top three floors. He had only decided to chase the bird on his return to the top. He felt he truly wasted time.

Fifteen minutes after deciding to finally leave, he stopped abruptly. They were still pretty far from the stairs up when Bell noticed a group coming. He focused his eyes to increase the map range to get a better view of them.

'Nia, aren't those the ones we passed chasing the jack bird?' He asked having idea why they'd approach him now.

*Correct, it seems they have been waiting for some time.*

'Well great,' he thought. Bell wasn't an easy target like they probably thought. They finally arrived in front of him.

"Hehe, we saw you chasing that bird. I'm sure you have the egg in that bag. Hand it over before we get violent," warned the front most man.

"Yeah, give it to us and we might just let you go," one of the goons added on.

Bell was thinking these guys were idiots. Not only were they targeting him for something he didn't have, but so close to the surface. It's like they were begging for repercussions. Bell quickly filtered magic through his eyes again an looked closely at each of them. They were pathetic.

"Hahahaha, you guys are rich. You're blackmailing me so close to the stairs to the surface? And being so weak on top of that?" Bell couldn't hold it back anymore and this caused a vein to bulge on the leaders forehead.

"Don't toy with us boy. Hand over your valuables now!" He was yelling this time, but Bell was done talking. His face turned 180 and he looked at the leader with his sharingan eyes. This caused them to shudder. Something about him was different. His eyes were spinning?

He wasn't worried about them finding out about his eyes. They were idiots. Even if they explained it to their familia's the likelihood that it lead to trouble was slim. They couldn't prove anything. It would take a stronger group of adventurers to make Bell wary of showing them.

Bell was using his eyes to put them under an illusion. Mind you, it wasn't a strong one. Most would be able to see through it because it wasn't his strong suit. And as much as he would like to just kill them and be done with it. This could easily be used to spin stories against him ruining his plans of freedom especially since he just got it. He was thinking to just deal with them discreetly this time as a warning. If they were dumb enough to try again later then he would lead them lower and have more fun.

He made it so that it looked like he was still standing there, but in reality he was circling around to knock them out. There were five of them and he felt with his abilities he could take them head on, but it was better safe than sorry.

He approached the farthest near the rear and hit him on the neck with the back of his blade. Proceeding to do the same to the next two closest before the leader heard them hitting the floor and turned around.

"What the hell? You were just in front of us!" to which Bell curtly responded, "I was but now I'm not," with a small smile.

The boss attack him, but Bell deflected it to his left. They were so slow that it was just play for him. He got low and swiped out his legs and then dropped his heel with all his weight into the fools stomach. As a result, his eyes rolled and he fainted leaving a single shivering goon left. Bell pointed his katana at him readying for one last beat down.

"Eep!" and ran off leaving them behind. 'What a coward but it saves me the trouble. Damn, I'm tired,' thought Bell.

Bell proceeded to take all their stones. An eye for an eye he always thought and they were carrying quite the haul. Likely stolen from many rookie adventurers. Bell hurriedly left and didn't even bother trading the stones in today. That last usage of his sharingan almost tapped out his magic and he was afraid he wouldn't make it home if he didn't hurry.

'I'll just take these to the exchange tomorrow on my day off,' thinking to himself as he walked slowly back to the church.
