4 Ch 4 - Crafting

-------------------------------------------------------

Authors note:

In the last chapter I messed up the time limit on the quest, I updated it but I don't know if it worked other than on the website so here is the time limit.

22: 11: 30

-------------------------------------------------------

As I was heading back I remembered I needed some long grass and vines. The vines can be found on the front of the cave, as for the long grass I'll collect a bundle on the way back as there lots in this healthy forest.

As I get back I turned off notification sounds for stat gains and start to set up and plan out what I need to make my priority when crafting.

Understanding I have close quarters covered for now with my pocket knife I get up and grab a vine and I start to shave off the wood of the stick for my future bow.

Around a half-hour later I have got the stick shaved into a thin long plank needed for the bow with 4 notches 2 at each end. Tieing the ends of the vines around the notches tightly the wood starts to arc finishing the bow.

[Crafting (Passive) LV 1 EXP: 0.00%]

It makes the user a better craftsman, and at higher levels, it will increase quality.

-Passively increases the chance of crafting to succeed by +1%, and each level the percent will increase by 1%.

---------------------------------------------------

Seeing that I didn't get manufacturing but instead crafting I wasn't upset just confused, guessing there are extra requirements to gain manufacturing I continued with my next work in progress.

Making arrows, I lay out the sticks, pine needles, long grass, and obsidian. First I take the obsidian and break it carefully until the shape of an arrowhead forms.

Unfortunately, as I was adding the notches I broke it ruining the work.

Knowing that I need practice I start to work with the 11 pieces left, going slowly as to not mess up to many 2 hours later of breaking, and grinding with sticks and a rock, 5 arrowheads were made and the other 6 broken.

Doing so leveled crafting up 2 times giving me a +3% chance of succeeding now.

Now knowing that I shouldn't work with the arrowheads more until I get the crafting skill leveled up, I decided to make the arrow body using the sticks, grass, and pine needles.

First shaving the sticks of there bark and then using the grass to tie on the pine needles that will be on one end facing outwards of it.

Out of many sticks, only 20 survived and got made into the body of the arrow.

By now crafting had leveled up to level 8 giving me a +8% chance of succeeding, I decided to start the process of attaching the arrowheads.

Modifying the arrow body of the first attempt so that there will be groves on the opposite end of the fletching.

I wrap grass around those groves so the grass doesn't slide, then I put the arrowhead on the end of the stick with the grass on it wrapping the grass around the arrowheads groves to tie it onto the stick.

The grass broke needing me to come up with a solution, I decided to take 3 pieces of grass and make them into a thin rope and repeat it, by doing this I succeed in creating the first arrow.

Repeating this process for the other 4 arrowheads I made 5 arrows while increasing crafting to level 10.

------------------------------------

Due to making something from memory and becoming better with your hands, you gained +3 INT and +2 AGI.

------------------------------------

Not wanting to use these arrows until needed, but also needing practice with the bow I decided to make the other 15 arrow body's into arrows by sharpening there head to a point.

Leaving practice to tomorrow as time was not on my side seeing that I have about 2 hours left before the sun completely sets and a crafting skill at level 13.

I decided to start making the knife to finish up. Pulling out the chunk of flint, and short stick and some grass that I had tied into ropes I started to work.

Making the flint into a large arrowhead with an upside-down T at the bottom completing the first step.

Second I made the stick into a handle by first shaving of the bark, second cutting groves into one side opposite to each other. Then on the same end wedged my pocket knife into it to create a place to put in the blade.

Lastly, I wedged in the upside-down T part of the blade into the gap I made and used the grass rope tightly to made it steady and stay in place.

Completing the knife I had my weapons made with about 30 minutes left until the sun went completely down.

------------------------------------

Due to you making something from memory, becoming better with your hand and succeeding on the first try you got +1 INT, +1 AGI, +1 LUK.

------------------------------------

So with that time left I gathered my stuff in 5 mins and put it in the cave, next I collected some tree branches with leaves from a nearby tree and gathered them next to my backpack with about 15 mins left.

With this time I made the leaves into a makeshift bed and put my backpack onto it for a pillow, then pulled out a lantern that I kept in my backpack at all times as for it to not get lost, and put my knife to the side in case I would need it.

------------------------------------

For thinking quickly and wisely you gained +2 WIS and +1 INT

------------------------------------

As I watched the forests lights turn off I turned on the lantern and since I was deep into the cave not much light would escape.

------------------------------------

Due to acting quickly and working hard all day you gained +2 AGI and +5 VIT

------------------------------------

Before I went to sleep I ate 2 apples, drank some water, and used [Observe] on the gear I had made.
