Chapter-17: Class trial-1 final
"Leon... Leon, did you really...kill Sayaka?" Makoto asks, an expression of disbelief plastered on his face
"I don't believe it...." Aoi mutters
"Hmph. We shouldn't be surprised at this point." Kenta mutters.
"Leon... you son of a bitch...! What the hell is wrong with you!?" Mondo asks
"I-I didn't have a choice... It was kill or be killed! S-So that's why... I killed her first. None of you are any different! One wrong step and you'd be the one standing here! It was by complete chance that I wound up like this! I was just... unlucky! That's all...." Leon chuckles
"D-Dammit....!" Mondo mumbles
"H-Hey, come on...! You expect me to just accept my death!?" Leon asks everybody
"Grr...!" Makoto murmurs
"Boy howdy! The entertainment industry must sure be terrifying, huh!? I mean, to try and kill someone just because of those relationships! She seemed so nice and lovely on the outside, but inside... she'd descended into pure madness!" Monokuma says to Makoto. It's obvious that he's talking about Sayaka
"Wh...what did you say?" Makoto asks him
"I understand, really I do. Yup yup! You're in utter despair thanks to Sayaka's betrayal, right? Compassion, intimacy, love... The stronger those feelings, the stronger the despair when they collapse!" Monokuma exclaims "Stop screwing with us! This is all your fault! Sayaka being forced to do something like that... All of it... Everything...! It's all your fault!" Suddenly in a frenzy, Makoto lunged at Monokuma.
But... "That's enough." Kyoko says
As angry as he was, Kyoko latched onto Makoto's arm without hesitation. Her grip was like iron, strong enough that Makoto was sure it would leave a bruise.
"If you really want to make her enemies pay for what they've done, you need to let it go for now," Kyoko tells him
"...Dammit!" Makoto exclaims
"I wonder if that will ever happen..." Kenta mutters
"Ahh, that was a close one! I thought for sure you were gonna give me a good walloping! Just barely avoided punishment, you did! Now then! Since you so magnificently revealed the identity of the killer during the class trial..." Monokuma trails off
"...the blackened, Leon Kuwata, will receive his punishment!" He says
"P-Punishment? You mean...e-execution?" Leon asks with a horrified expression
"W-Wait a second! I didn't have a choice! I HAD to kill her! Y-Yeah, that's it! I was just protecting myself in the heat of the moment! It was self-defense!" Leon claims "
How, exactly, was it self-defense?" Kenta asked him
"When you forced your way into the bathroom, did you or did you notuse your very own toolkit? After she'd shut herself in the bathroom, you went out of your way to head back to your own room, then you came all the way back, broke into the bathroom, and killed her. Am I wrong? You had any number of chances to stop what you were doing. But you chose not to. Is it not because you had an unclouded intent to commit murder?" Celeste told Leon
"N-No! That's not...!" Leon tried to defend himself.
"That's exactly it though. Don't lie." Kenta tells him
"Okay, well, anyway. More importantly...! Let's hurry up and get to what everyone's been waiting for! The punishment!" Monokuma exclaims gleefully
"W-Wait! I'm begging you...! Please, don't do this!" Leon pleads with Monokuma.
"No more begging! No more excuses! You must pay the penalty for breaking the rules! Society demands it!" Monokuma tells him
"S-Stop, please...!" Leon shouts
"Now then, I've prepared a very special punishment for Leon Kuwata, the Ultimate Baseball Star!" Monokuma begins
"No no no no no no no!" "Let's give it everything we've got! It's... PUNISHMENT TIIIME!" Monokuma exclaims with a twisted cackle4 "NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" Leon shouts as he is dragged off to his execution
"Wooohooo! Extreeeeeeemmmmmeeeee! Man, my adrenaline is pumping right outta control!" Monokuma exclaims as the execution concludes
"Uwah...! Uwaaaaaahhh!" Hifumi exclaims
"Wh-Wh-What's going o-on!?" Toko asks in a horrified tone
"I-I can't take this anymore...! Do we really have to keep doing this? I just can't take it!" Chihiro shouts
Kenta hugged Chihiro comforting her with his warm affection.
"Well hey, if you don't like it... all you gotta do is swear to cut all ties with the outside world and accept living here forever! But that's only if every single one of you can get on board with that. Puhuhuhu... Waahahahaha! Bwaahahaha!" Monokuma cackles
"Man, fuck you... Why the fuck are you going all this evil shit to us!?" Mondo asks him
"Evil!? You make it sound like I'm some dark, awful, secret society type of guy! Or in this case, a dark, awful, secret society type of BEAR!" Monokuma exclaims.
"Um, so why are you putting an upstanding young citizen like me through such a grueling ordeal?" Hifumi asks "It seems like you're trying to use common sense to make sense of something that doesn't make sense! That's like trying to put a mile on a scale! I just don't think it's possible..." Monokuma says
"Hey, uh, I don't think what you're saying and what I'm saying quite fit together," Hifumi mutters
"No matter how you look at it, monokuma's motives for all of this don't really matter..." Kenta tells everyone
"You piece of shit! I don't know who you are but I'm gonna pound your stupid fucking face into the ground!" Mondo shouts at monokuma.
"Puhuhu. You must really hate me to get so angry, huh? But if you do that, you're barking waaay up the wrong tree." Monokuma tells him
"What happened, happened because more than one of you decided you wanted to get out, right? No matter how much time passes, you can't cut free of your regrets from the outside world. You're to blame!" Monokuma says bringing back the despair within the trail room.
"Of course we can't cut f-free of the outside world! Being trapped in this insane p-place...!" Toko says
"Hmmm... You're trapped, are you? Well, I'm sure once you learn all the mysteries of this school, your thinking will change for sure. You'll think, Boy, isn't it so wonderful how we all get to live here forever!?"" Monokuma tells them
"What are you trying to say...?" Ishimaru asks
"He's probably giving you guys a hint. How very generous of him..." Kenta mutters
"How is that a hint?" Yasuhiro asks
"I don't know myself, but there is a hidden mystery behind it..." Kenta says
"Anyways, looks like we're done here. You guys should go back upstairs..." He suggests
"And what will you be doing?" Celeste asks him
"I believe I am not the one you should concern about. You're only asking because you'll think I'll do something horrible, right? Well don't worry, it's too early for that just yet..." Kenta says
"What do you mean..." Aoi says
"Too edgy.....Geez." Junko adds
And with that, everyone besides Kenta leaves the courtroom and heads back to their dorms. Well, everyone besides Kyoko that is.
"...."
"Huh? Why are you still here? Get out." Kenta tells the girl, who is merely staring at him in silence.
"Don't you regret what you did? Do you not feel bad for playing a part in all this?" Kyoko asks Kenta
. "Being a part of what.....Do you have evidence to prove that?" Kenta seems to be taken aback by this sudden question. He doesn't immediately respond. Instead, he just replies with dead cold-eyes
"No… I don't." She says. Kyoko stares at him in silence with a stern expression, but eventually her expression softens to almost a saddened one. But she just turns around and starts walking away.
"I see... if that's how it is, then I'll be going." Kyoko says before boarding the elevator and walking away.
"Hmph… guess that's it then." Kenta said to himself once Kyoko had left.
"...." "Hey Monokuma… I've got something I wanna tell you." Kenta would say as he turned towards Monokuma, who still hadn't left yet.
"Before that… why did you deny her claim from before?" Monokuma asks him.
"Why…? Isn't it obvious? It made my job a lot easier." Kenta would respond
"But as for what I wanted to say… do you know how this killing game is going to end?" He asks Monokuma.
"....Please tell me. How is it going to end, Kenta?" Monokuma asks him.
"Somehow, someway, you will die. I'm positive everyone here will find out every secret of this place, and kill you." Kenta tells Monokuma.
"Oh? And how will that happen exactly? Are you going to do it?" Monokuma asks with his smile growing ever so wider.
"Me? Well, I don't think explaining to you would have any benefit. But… I'm sure everyone else will be able to discern the truth of this school. After all… they are ultimate and they have 'him' to help them." Kenta answers as he turns away from Monokuma.
"That is all I have to say now. It's almost nighttime, yeah? Guess I'll head off to sleep now." He says as he boards the elevator and ascends back up to the school, leaving Monokuma alone in the room.
"I see… I guess I'll just have to wait a little while longer forthings to be even more fun…" Monokuma says to himself before also leaving the courtroom.
"What an annoyance..." Kenta mutters as he walks through the halls of the academy
Whilst walking aimlessly, the sound of metal creaking loudly catches his attention...
"What in the world...?" Kenta wonders as he rushes over to where the sound is coming from And there he sees a girl with short dark hair that is holding a pair of keys in her hand. She seems to be focused on the rising gate that was previously blocking the stairwell to the second floor, she doesn't even notice Kenta at first
"Hey… welcome to the class newcomer," Kenta calls out to the woman, who swiftly turns her head towards him stares at him with widened eyes
"So are you going to be our next floor master? Or maybe.... you're a good pal of the mastermind...." Kenta theorizes as he walks up to the girl
"I... I can explain Kenta." The girl claims
"Now I'm intrigued. Please elaborate." Kenta requests
