Prologue

Welcome to New Orleans. A city built on the supernatural, witchcraft and tragedy. This great city had been fought over for centuries by various creatures that believed they deserved the powers it possessed. The city, even in constant battle, seemed to have only one creature remain, werewolves. They watched as empires rose up only to come crashing down. Dynasty after dynasty of all kinds of supernatural beings failing their species. The powers that be overlooked the wolves and saw them as nothing more than brute force. They used them as enforcers of civil peace and as dispensable soldiers in times of battle. Tossed aside until they were called on, the wolf packs lived peaceful lives among themselves. Their homes became the forests alongside the river that flowed where wildlife roamed and they could grow crops. Believe it or not, the beasts they had come to be called didn't enjoy being a part of the battles. They only fought alongside the ruler of the city so they would not destroy what peace remained for them. All they had left was themselves and the lands of the ancestors. With each battle, their hearts broke a little more. It was tormenting watching their lands fall apart.

New Orleans was more than just some city to them. More than some power source. This was their home, a place where their families grew up long before the invasion of others, and a place they would remain until the day the world died. Their entire history dating back to the beginning of days. The origin of their pack was told to children around the fires for centuries and would continue to be done so long as the pack existed. It was their legacy, their right, and their duty to keep the traditions of the pack going until the very day the last wolf took their breath. They would not back down or hide from those in their city, but with their numbers dropping in with each new leader they weren't sure what would come of them. After years of war, there was but with only one pack left in New Orleans and extinction of the oldest bloodline was possible. They could only hope as the years passed that someone would come to their aid. Someone of worth to take back the city they loved and bring new blood into the pack. Someone of great worth and of strong blood. Someone they could count on for years to come. Their calls would soon be answered as a new hope had made her way to the great city in search of a home.
