46 Getting Greedy

DANDY knew she did something wrong by not following Shina's heed. But how could it be wrong when she was that happy and all smiling.

After what happened with Shina and Naru, Sora and Maeko always go back to come and play with her. It was like a daily routine. There are times that they would come earlier. And what was more anticipating with Dandy was the things they would bring for her.

Last time, they brought her something called a Yoyo. It was something new as she was used to playing hide and seek only.

The toy amazed her at how Sora played it in front of her. Sora even taunted hitting Yoshiko with it. The latter jumped in surprise as he thought that he would be hit by it. Sora and Maeko were laughing so hard at it and they were ended up chased by Yoshiko.

Now the toy was left in Dandy's possession when Sora and Maeko left. It was all brand new before, now looked tattered as she tried her best in learning how to use it. And now, she may not be like how Sora played with it, she can now throw and made it come back to her. She cannot wait to let Sora see it.

Dandy's attention went to where Sora and Maeko came in when she heard their usual bickering.

"I told you that this is better for her to eat," Sora's voice sounded annoyed as it kept getting closer.

Dandy can hear Maeko's angry growl. "Girls, don't like salty food. This cake, she would surely love this."

"But this is sweet, too."

"No!"

And then the two emerged from the bushes and still arguing over something about 'corn dog' and 'cake'.

"Sora! Maeko!" Dandy excitedly jumped from the big roots of Old Oak and run to greet them. Her big smile never leaving her lips as she reached them.

"Taste this."

"Eat this. This is much better than what Maeko brought." He even glared at what Maeko brought and pushed what he brought to Dandy a little. "That would only hurt your throat."

"I told you. She would like this more. Girls love this then that corndog."

"How do you know? Are you even a girl? You're a giant." Sora screamed. after telling that to Maeko.

The next thing they saw was that Sora was hanging on to his hair as Maeko grabbed it. Maeko kept pulling it while she sweetly extended her cake to Dandy.

Dandy was torn onto what she would do. Help Sora or accepted Maeko's gift. And just to end it all, Dandy sighed and accepted Maeko's cake as she took the corndog in Sora's hand. It was only then that Maeko let go of Sora's hair.

"Please don't fight, okay? I will try it all," Dandy answered excitedly. "you see, I'm really curious about everything you're bringing. So, let's share it all."

Sora and Maeko looked at each other before laughing.

"These two, you look stupid by the way, kids," Yoshiko commented.

"What did he say?" Maeko asked in a puzzled look.

Sora just made face towards Yoshiko before facing maeko. "He said we're stupid."

"Hey! That's mean!"

"Yoshiko," reprimand Dandy.

Yoshiko stood up and bowed towards them. "Your Grace, please don't always take their side."

Dandy giggled. "But it is bad to call them that, right?"

Tamotsu sighed and jumped on Tamotsu's head. "I told you to be kind to those kids. Stupid."

Dandy just shook her head. "Let's go. Let's taste this now."

IT DIDN'T take long before the cake and corndog got gobbled up by Dandy, Yoshiko, and Tamotsu. And now, Sora and Maeko were waiting for their verdict.

"Hmm, the…the corndog for me," Yoshiko said as kept looking at the plate where the cake was.

"Why can't you be honest, huh, Yoshiko?" Tamotsu noticed. "You kept eating the cake and only bitten a few of the corndogs, then you say it was the corndog for you?"

"W-why? I cannot taste the cake that was why I kept—"

Tamotsu didn't speak any word and just looked at him. Judging every word he was saying. In the end, Yoshiko avoided his eyes away from Tamotsu.

"Fine. Fine. It's the cake for me." Yoshiko scoffed before walking away as he transforms back into the wolf.

Tamotsu cleared his throat and gave his vote. "It's the cake for me. The softness reminds me of the clouds. And thus, remembering the taste of clouds in Takamagahara. Sweet and fluffy."

Tamotsu smiled before returning to his grasshopper body.

Maeko was too busy looking at the two guardians and when Dandy looked at Sora, he was looking away from the food. Dandy knew that Sora was doubting the food he brought.

So before Sora could draw back his food, Dandy raised his hands. "I chose the corn dog."

"Dandy, you don't have to," Sora said melancholily. "I know that you love cakes like what Maeko said."

"Hmm?" it was Dandy's time to get sad. "You don't believe me?"

"No! I mean. Yes. No." Sora sighed as she looked confused about what he was going to say. "I believe you. Everything you say is true. I know. But today, I know you're just taking my side cause no one liked what I brought."

"No!" Dandy stood up as she stomped her feet. "I love the corn dog, it's true. Unlike the cake that tastes almost the same as all the flowers that I've eaten, the corn dog taste is different. It was salty and sweet at the same time. And I never knew that it tastes wonderful. They compliment each other's taste. Just like you two."

"Huh?"

"Me and Maeko?"

Dandy nodded to them. "You're sweet and salty. And just like the corndog, I love both of the taste!" she giggled as she watched the two of them looked at each other and looked away at the same time.

It was then Dandy felt that she was glad to defy Shina's heed.

They were all in that situation when they heard the disturbance of the flocks and running of the animals. Dandy worriedly followed the flight of birds and looked at where the animals came from. And there she saw, the sun started to succumb to darkness.

Yoshiko and Tamotsu in their human form were right beside Dandy's group in an instant. Protecting and ready to attack. Looked like they would finally understand what was happening in the forest these last few days.
