6 Slumbering Cat

Everyone was slowly recovering from their shock after witnessing the skill that Feng had used. The kid's and Graves were still looking over with excitement, and Feng slowly put his sword back into the sheathe.

"Oh wow! Captain Graves can we do something like that if we practice hard?!" One of the kid's yelled, while the rest turned their expectations over to Graves.

"Haha, of course! You just need to get stronger and have some real life experiences, but remember! Always practice the basics, because if you just recklessly swing your weapon around, a skilled person or a slightly smarter monster could take advantage of that and you'll be in trouble. So now, start practice!" Graves commanded in a loud voice.

"YES SIR!" The kid's responded with big smiles on their faces as they started walking to the center of the village with weapons ready for practice.

'So...I can use "skills" if I call out their name? How do they even work? What if I just think them in my head? Is there magic in this world too? This could be interesting...' Feng thought to himself as he started heading over to Graves, while seeing the kid's run pass him.

"So, a skill at your age, you seem pretty young too. We should have a chat..." Graves gave Feng a grin.

"Uh...yeah I would like that, I have a few questions that I'm hoping could be answered..." Feng chuckled while scratching his head.

"Let's go, my house is right around the corner. I'll ask my wife to make us some food too! It's about time for dinner!" Graves laughed as he turned around and started walking.

Feng turned behind him to see the kid's diligently practicing, he smiled and followed after Graves.

Feng looked around with excitement, he had never expected to be able to do something like this in his life. One of those dreams kid's have had about being a hero. 'Wait does this mean I'm supposed to kill a demon lord or something...? Why did I get sent here...'

"We're here! Come on in and grab a seat, I'll see if my wife can get us something to eat and drink while we talk, you'll love her! She's the best cook in town!" Graves proudly said as he pushed open the door to a house with 2 stories.

-Slumbering Cat-

Feng noticed a sign hanging outside of the house with a picture of a bed on it. 'Huh...I'm guessing this is the inn...' Feng though while walking in.

"Welcome to the Slumbering Cat! Our motto is to let you sleep like a cat basking in the sun!" A young girl in a blue dress said as Feng walked in.

"Hey Milea, can you get him a room? He's gonna be staying here tonight as a guest of mine," Graves said walking pass the girl.

"Oh? Uncle Grave's guest? Then I'll prepare the best room!" Milea said as she hopped over to the stairs on the right of the house.

"Cornelia, can you get 2 meals ready? I have a special guest over today!" Graves walked over to the counter on the left of the entrance speaking with a lady with short blonde hair, and an average height in a purple dress.

"Special guest?" The lady turned around and looked at Graves then shifted her eyes to Feng behind him.

"Hello, my name is Feng Wu. I'll be in your care tonight," Feng said while bowing as the lady looked over at him.

"Wow, what good manners. Unlike this oaf over here," The lady smirked. "My name is Cornelia, if you haven't heard from Graves yet, I'm his wife. The girl who greeted you at the front door is my niece Milea. Make yourself at home, I'll have the chef cook something for you guys," Cornelia said while walking out of the counter and into a room further inside the house.

"Let's grab a seat over there," Graves pointed to the back of the house where there were 4 round tables with 4 chairs on each. Feng followed Graves to the tables and sat down. while pulling a chair out for himself, Graves asked. "So, tell me more about yourself kid, you don't seem like someone from around these parts with those strange clothings..."

"Oh, yeah. Um, my name is Feng Wu. I live in a town called Woodchip. Any chance you've heard of it before?" Feng asked while pulling out a chair for himself.

"Woodchip? Can't say I have...We're in the Western Highlands here, and there aren't that many towns around these parts due to the monsters that live here," Graves said while tilting his head.

"This might sound strange, but can you tell me where on Earth we are?" Feng slowly said.

"Earth? What's that?" Graves responded while blankly looking at Feng.

"I mean...what is the world called, or the continent or anything more?" Feng asked worriedly.

"Ah, so you are an Wanderer... that would explain a few things," Graves said while nodding his head.

'Wanderer?'
