5 I Think I'm a Hero?

While Feng was looking at the outside of this village, he noticed there was a man watching him. The man had a metal breastplate on, a helmet that showed his face, a spear next to him and a short sword on his waist as well.

"Hey there kid, this is the village of Garo. What are you here for?" The man walked up 2 steps and eyed down Feng before showing a smile.

"Hi, my name is Feng. I seem to be lost, and I'm not sure where I am...I was hoping maybe someone could help me find my way home," Feng introduced himself while bowing his head.

"Huh...come here and put your hand on this plate. It'll let us know if it's safe for you to enter if it's blue and if it's red we'll throw you in jail until the city patrols come by," The man said while smirking.

Feng followed the man and after hearing what he said started to shake nervously. The man than put a plate with strange engravings on the ground, and backed up a step while looking at Feng. Feng slowly bent down and put his hand on the plate, the moment it touched the plate, it shined a bright blue.

"Woah!" Feng jumped back in surprise.

"I'm curious about how bright that light was, but I'm glad that it was blue. Come on in to the village, I'll walk you around. You're called Feng right? I'm Graves, the Guard Captain here in Garo," Graves said while motioning Feng to follow him.

Feng followed Graves as they started to walk around. Graves pointed out the shops on the sides for fruits and vegetables, some trinkets and toys for children, everything people will need to use in their everyday life could be found along the road. Feng also noticed that the village only consisted of a few houses and a very open field in the middle of the village.

"Looking at the sword you seem to be an Adventurer or Explorer?" Graves asked while walking back to the center of town.

"Uh, not really. I was given this sword by... a friend, but I'm not very good at using it..." Feng said while recalling the incident in the forest.

"Well if you stick around I can help you out with some training! I might not seem like much as a Guard Captain, but I used to be in the army in the capital, I was a Lieutenant before I retired back to my home here," Graves laughed as he smacked Feng's shoulder.

"Oh that would be great, I would really appreciate that. I encountered a Horned Cat and almost got killed, I hope it's not that dangerous trying to get home, but it wouldn't hurt to learn a little bit..." Feng trailed off as he saw a few kids with wooden swords starting to gather up around them.

"Did you say you fought a Horned Cat?! You must be strong!" Suddenly a boy came up pulling on Feng's jeans.

"Huh? Are Horned Cat's considered strong animals?" Feng asked while confused. He saw that it was only a danger level of 2 stars, and the Land Dragon was at 5 stars, even the Unicorn was at 3 stars.

"They would take a party of adventurers to take one down without casualties usually. They're considered one of the top of the food chain in Galis Forest. There are a few monsters that can be considered stronger, but the horned cats head ram can pierce a steel shield like it was cloth, so they're considered a more dangerous one," Graves said while sizing up Feng again.

Feng was shocked as he heard what Graves had said, 'Wait does that mean I was really close to dying for real? Oh man I need to go home quick...' while Feng was thinking a few of the other kids had already circled around him.

"Hey hey! Show us some of your moves!" One of the kids said, the other kids all chimed in too asking to see his skills.

While the kids were urging Feng, he looked over at Graves and saw the expectant look on his face. With a sigh Feng nodded his head to the kids request and walked towards the center of the village. He unsheathed his sword carefully thinking of all the anime, movies, and video games he played and started to imitate the moves he could remember. While swinging his sword and turning his body, he felt that it was a lot of fun. He remembered the times he pretended to be a hero at home after watching a popular anime, or the times he would imagine himself in a game.

'Wait, I'm pretty much in a game right now aren't I? Wouldn't it be cool if I could use skills or magic?!' Feng thought to himself as his eyes started to show his enjoyment. He thought of all the colorful attacks and skills he could use like in his game.

"Wind Slash!" Feng yelled, getting carried away in his excitement. After swinging his sword down, nothing seemed to be happening.

"Hahahaha, he just yelled out a skill and nothing happened!" One of the kids said while he started laughing.

Suddenly a long scar extended on the ground that cut 2 meters in front of Feng. Everyone looked at him with wide eyes and mouth open.

"You...you have a skill? Are you really not an adventurer or explorer?!" Graves said while seemingly shaking with excitement.

"Uh... I... I don't know how I did that just now..." Feng also had wide eyes as he looked back at the kids and Graves while fumbling his words. He turned to look at the ground in front of him. A long cut can be seen and it had even cut down through the ground a few inches.

'Am I some hero from a light novel or something?!' Feng shouted in his mind.
