Chapter 1Interference

"Carol. Carol! it's time. The security system is jammed. Unlucky for you, it wasn't my work. There may be another Netrunner interfering. I won't have access to the system while the jammer is present. Proceed with caution." A voice rang through Loba's headset, coming through as if swimming through static.

"Someone is stealing my heist? How naughty... Any idea if they're inside?" Loba strutted forwards, her furrowed brow betraying the almost seductive-like tone of her voice.

"The Jammer is doing its work, but from what I'm looking at it must be a physical one. Seeing as they couldn't have placed it whilst the security was up, the jammer must be outside the building."

"Aaand I'm already halfway up the building. If someone IS inside perhaps I'll introduce myself to our little spoilsport?" She questioned, only for the static buzz to get louder and the voice to become intelligible. She clicked her tongue, turning off her comms.

The Aldecados may not have many or the best Netrunners, but they certainly have the most loyal.

Loba sprinted through the building, taking full advantage of the lack of security. She frowned as she got to the elevator. It was already in use, by the time she got to the top floor the data might already be stolen.

"Now that just won't do." Loba muttered to herself. If she had that jammer she wouldn't have spent half time sneaking around. She would actually have been able to use the elevator.

'Well it's too late now. Just gotta invest in one after I'm done here.'

Loba took out her fan and slashed against the elevator doors, cutting it cleanly in two.

She peered down the deep elevator shaft and noticed the elevator had already passed. All the lasers in the elevator shaft have been deactivated as well.

'A lucky break.'

She used her staff as a foothold and leapt upwards, bouncing back and forth on the Elevators support beams.

'Such a shame they don't use ropes. That would have made this so much easier...'

Loba looked up and saw the Elevator come to a stop. It was barely visible with how high up it was.

The building was at least smartly designed in some regards or horribly designed for the maintenance crew. There were no ladders, no platforms and no vents. Nothing for her Jump drive to latch onto either.

She cursed under her breath and hoped there was another way up. She'd become an old lady before she'd reach the top. Though she'd probably age like Rouge. Mhmm Fine wine indeed.

"Merda even with this, I am too far too slow. Any idea how to get up there faster? I knew we should have gotten the aircraft, but no. No aircraft for me." Loba pouted bitterly. Is it really such a problem if they spent a little bit? No jammer and No aircraft. This really isn't her day today.

A girl has to have some luxury in her life…

The buzzing in her ear resumed as her headset switched on outside of her control. The voice was barely audible but seemed panicked.

"Entrances …shut off… CAROL! GET OUT!" The static finally ended as the elevator shaft began to flare red.

Loba's head snapped upwards to see the elevator dropping fast. Without an ounce of hesitation she dropped down to the closest floor and slashed the door open, barely escaping the falling elevator.

"Filho da puta. [Son of a bitch.] It seems our hacker isn't as good as they thought. Can you get me a feed on them?"

"No, thankfully the jammer is useless now that the security has doubled down, but there are too many daemons here. I need to get out before they fry me. It's up to you Carol, I'd say get the hell out of there. No gig is worth your life."

"Such touching words. Ha… This has become a real mess." Loba sighed as she strode towards the window.

'Perhaps from the outside?' Loba thought as she flicked her wrist opening her fan to cut through the glass. Before she could manage it though, the door to the room blew open and a storm of green plated security bots rushed in.

'This day is getting better and better…'

In a swift motion, Loba slammed down her staff, causing a sleek pink pistol to appear in her hands like magic.

"A gun is like a beautiful woman. Hold her tight or someone else will." Loba said gleefully as she inspected the weapon. It was a Militech Omaha. It was such a shame she couldn't use the tech features on it, but she could still work with it, infact it was probably better in hands.

She's doing the Netrunner a favour by giving this beautiful gun an equally beautiful partner.

------------------------------------------------------

Unknown to her an annoyed and extremely confused Netrunner cursed wondering just how did her weapon vanish and where had it gone?!

"Fucking Bit-"

------------------------------------------------------

'Whatever. Questions for later, I can make do without it.' The mysterious Netrunner thought as she cut the robots head into ribbons with her sharp cat-like nails.

Loba let out a huff that soon turned into a bloodthirsty grin.

"How fun. I have never been a fan of robots anyway." She said as she opened fire on the security bots with glee. Notices how ineffective the bullets were, she cursed and moved behind her staff for cover. Hundred of bullets began to rain down on her, seemingly never stopping.

With each bullet came a ripple of energy, the bullets almost vanishing into nothingness.

Loba smirked as she tapped a button on her wrist band.

The bullets that were absorbed, flung back towards the robots, tearing them to shreds.

Unfortunately for her the building didn't just have a dozen robots. It had so much more. Usually she would be all for dismantling hoards of robots but right now she was on a strict time schedule.

She sighed in dismay at the increase of forces and the lack of opportunity to destroy them all.

She stepped forward with her fan only to almost stumble briefly as the building rumbled above her. The robots weren't so lucky as they tumbled into each other, knocking each other to the ground like a row of dominos.

'An explosion? What the hell is that Olho do cu [Asshole] doing?'

In the corner of her eye she noticed something pass by her out the window, catching her off guard completely.

"Well I suppose that IS the fun way out." Loba chuckled as she decided to join the unknown free faller. She shot the gun against the glass and leapt gracefully, finally seeing her hacker for the first time.

Her eyes were closed as if accepting her fate with a peaceful smile. It was the look of someone who had accomplished their goal, no even more than that. It was the look of someone who accomplished their life's mission.

'Why are the cute ones always suicidal?' Loba thought in dismay as she resolved herself. She holstered her weapon and pulled forwards into a straight nose dive, colliding with the hacker and knocking out the breath of the both of them.

Even whilst they spiralled out of control, Loba wrapped her arm around the unknown as she expertly tossed her bracelet through one of the lower floor windows, vanishing in a bright light not a second later.

Loba broke into a tumble with her mysterious hacker as they landed to safety. She could see the pure confusion in those marvellous eyes as she laid her knee on top of her chest and her fan against the netrunners throat.

"Hello beautiful… You must tell me where you got your makeup, it's to die for" Loba whispered seductively, the tone of her voice made the Netrunner gulp.

It would have usually been quite provocative if she hadn't had the Netrunners very own pink pistol pressed right against the her forehead.

She could see the Netrunners expression turn from odd confusion into indignantion at the sight of her own gun.

"You see, I didnt save you out of the goodness of my heart. You have something I want." Loba purred as she leaned in closer to the netrunners face.

"Now about that information, Meu Gatinha~" [Little Kitten~]

"Wh-"

[It's a shame that we have to cut this short. But this isn't the start of the story. So let's wind it back a bit.]

The Synthesis Wizard

In a world where elements lay barren and powerful wizards had abandoned their homeland a millennium ago to explore the multiverse, Sunan found himself reincarnated as a noble scion stripped of his title. This world, once brimming with magic and wonder, had fallen into a desolate state, and wizards had become mere legends. Sunan was acutely aware that after a thousand years, the elements would awaken once more, heralding the return of the wizards and ushering in a new era of prosperity. He understood that his path was clear: he must train diligently to become a wizard himself and survive until this glorious age arrived. “Resources are scarce?” he mused, determination flickering in his eyes. “Then I’ll just have to synthesize them myself.” With that thought, he activated the Synthesis Cube, a device that granted him the ability to combine materials into something new. This Cube was not just a tool; it was a symbol of his potential in this world, reflecting his status as a player in a game he once played. As he set to work, the Cube glowed with possibilities, presenting him with a myriad of options. He had a few basic materials at his disposal, remnants of his previous life and the knowledge he had accumulated from his past experiences in the game. Sunan began experimenting, combining herbs and minerals he had gathered. Each successful synthesis filled him with a sense of accomplishment, inching him closer to his goal of becoming a wizard. Days turned into weeks, and Sunan’s skills improved rapidly. He crafted potions, improved his understanding of magical theories, and honed his mental abilities through intense meditation practices. The Star Ring Meditation, one of the first techniques he mastered, allowed him to tap into the latent mental energy within himself, enhancing his cognitive functions and magical sensitivity. As he progressed, whispers of his endeavors began to circulate among the remaining noble families and the common folk. Some viewed him with suspicion, while others saw potential in the young man who dared to challenge the status quo. Sunan knew he needed allies. He began seeking out individuals who shared his vision—a return to the age of wizards. He discreetly approached the remnants of the nobility, the few who still held some influence, and began to forge connections. His reputation grew cautiously, and with it, the opportunities to gather resources and knowledge. He learned of hidden libraries, ancient texts, and artifacts that could aid in his quest. One fateful day, while exploring a forgotten ruin, he uncovered an ancient tome detailing the rituals of the wizards who had once thrived on this land. The pages contained knowledge that could accelerate his growth, including spells long lost to time. “This is it,” Sunan thought as he carefully transcribed the contents into his own notes. “With this, I can not only learn the spells but also improve my synthesis techniques.” As he delved deeper into the arcane arts, he realized that the key to his ascension lay not just in personal power but in understanding the intricate web of alliances and rivalries that defined noble society. He had to navigate these treacherous waters carefully. In the back of his mind, Sunan always remembered the impending return of the wizards. The time was coming when he would have to reveal his true potential and lead the charge into the new era. With each passing day, he grew stronger, more confident, and increasingly aware of the responsibilities that awaited him. The world was changing, and Sunan was determined to be at the forefront of that change—a wizard in a world that had forgotten what it meant to wield true power.
