Damn These Boys!

“Uh I never thought that you would actually call me, so I didn’t have anything planned but how about I take you to the movies this Friday?” he asked hopefully. Denise rolled her eyes from beside me probably unimpressed by his confession and lack of smooth talk. It seemed like he was not very experienced in talking to girls and getting their attention which is odd because he looked very cute. If I wasn’t on a mission to hurt boys, I might have given him a chance. “Friday works fine for me. I’ll send you my address so that you can come pick me up.” Now that the deal was made, I had no longer any interest in talking to him. I had already entertained him for way long and although it was fun while it lasted, I had places to be and people to meet. *************** Scarlet has finally lost all trust in guys after getting her heart broken many times. Chapter 19: Nice girl

For the past twenty minutes I had been thinking hard and long as to where he was taking me and what he wanted to tell me about but I never thought our destination would be a nice suburbs residential house.

It was a beautiful white and blue painted house with a large driveway and an elegant porch swing.

The small flowerbed on the side was welcoming and full of various flowers splattered with different colors on the lush green grass.

It looked like a well-maintained house containing a happy family.

Did he want me to meet his parents?

That thought worried me I didn’t think I was going to come to meet his parents today but if that was the case, he would have warned me beforehand.

He couldn’t possibly mean this by his past, right?

I wanted to ask him why he brought me here and what was the meaning of this but one look at his face and I knew I would receive the same answer as before and that was to wait a little longer and to trust him.

That was very difficult for me though.

I absolutely adore the idea of safekeeping someone’s trust but giving mine to someone else was challenging.

Trusting someone isn’t as easy as people easily ask for it. I have been broken too many times to trust that simply. Even then I can still respect him enough, to wait for him to disclose it to me when the time comes because respect is what he has shown me since the beginning.

He rang the bell as we waited on the white wooden porch.

I heard footsteps from the other side and for some unknown reason I imagined various guys coming out of the other side of the door to laugh at me and tell me that I was useless, and that this was all just a set up to get me off Andrew’s back as he had become bored of me, that I was too gullible to not see and that I have been played again.

I would have had a panic attack right now if it wasn’t for the fact that I doubt Andrew was capable of doing something like that but still a small part of me wanted to tell me that it was all an elaborated staged plan.

Clutching my purse in my hand tightly I waited for the person on the other side of the door with bated breath. On hearing carefully, I recognized it to be a single person’s click of heels.

A middle-aged woman opened the door and rushed forward to draw Andrew in a big warm hug. She was shorter than me as I stood at a height of around 5’ 8” even when she wore heels, she could only come up to half of Andrew’s chest but that didn’t stop her petite figure to hug him fiercely.

Her short black hair bobbed as she affectionately talked to him and even gestured him to bend down to pull his cheeks.

The scene in front of me was so humorous that I let out a snicker attracting her attention for the first time towards me.

“Good heavens! Andy, why didn’t you tell me that you have got a girlfriend and you brought her here!” she shrieked looking at Andrew in horror then turning to me and before I could correct her that I was not his girlfriend she hugged me and said, “Honey, it’s so nice to meet you I am Monica Brown.”

“It’s nice to meet you too, ma’am. I am Scarlet Davis and I am just a friend of Andrew,” I greeted, still a bit confused about who this lady was and how to behave around her.

She couldn’t be related to Andrew as his title was Stevens. So, who was this bubbly friendly lady who had hugged me like she knew me since forever?

“What? Boy! I am ashamed of you, when are you going to make her your girlfriend? A nice girl like her shouldn’t slip away,” She admonished him whilst glaring up at him then turning towards me she corrected, “And you should just call me Monica anything else makes me feel old.”

‘Nice girl’ her words seemed to resonate in my mind as if asking me whether I considered myself one after what I have been doing.

“Monica, don’t scold me like that in front of her,” Andrew blushed sneaking a glance at me.

That made me smile internally. The whole situation was just so cute altogether.

“Okay okay, I am leaving. Take care of her,” With that she rushed to the car parked in her driveway not before yelling at me to visit her more often.

We didn’t even know each other well and she was already telling him to take care of me and for me to come visit them more? I had never met such a friendly person!

“I am sorry about that she was just excited because I have never brought anyone here with me ever before,” He apologized as he opened the door wider for me and closed it behind us.

“I want you to meet someone but promise me you will wait for me to answer all your questions on my own, just not yet,” He pleaded his eyebrows creased in worry again.

Opening my flats that I had paired up with my white sundress I took his hands in mine and smiled up at him reassuringly, “I promise.”

It seemed to ease him but the storm inside me didn’t subside, the curiosity was killing me.

I wanted to know who I was going to meet but then again, I didn’t.

The gravity of the situation suddenly struck me and I even considered backing out and running out of the door, to call up Blu to come pick me up.

“Let’s go then.” He mumbled walking into the quiet house.

I guess I am left with no choice but to follow.
