1 Legendary Monster Eggs

A burning bonfire illuminated the dark cave. A blizzard continued to flush the place, growing frost on the surface of the stone wall. Three men were sitting in front of the campfire, bathing in its warmth to dispel the cold in their limbs.

They sat in the aisle very close to the entrance. Outside the cave, stood a snow mountain. The mountain was dwelled by a lot of monsters. They were able to get past those monster because of their expertise in the expedition

They were forced to infiltrate into the cave because they could not bear the cold outside. They were exhausted. They resorted to a short break before continuing the journey. Although, they did not know what they would encounter inside the cave.

The cave they entered had a long dark corridor with no end in sight. They could only see pure darkness gaping at them. But they were sure that no monster would enter this cave from outside because there were no traces of monsters around them.

"Did you hear anything?" said Izan, one of the three men.

Ajie and Javar immediately closed their eyes and concentrated on their hearing. An unknown sound emerged from the depth of the cave.

"You're right. It seems like it's coming from inside the cave," Javar replied, his brow furrowed.

"Didn't you say this cave is safe?" Ajie protested while crossing his arms in front of his chest.

Javar was the person who checked the perimeter of the cave. According to his observations, there were no traces of monsters from outside or inside the cave. He had checked up to 100 meters into the cave, and even then, there were no traces of monsters.

"Hey, I have just heard this voice. How can I know whether there are monsters or not," Javar explained to Ajie.

CRACK. CRACK.

The could still hear the sound. The sound made them raise their eyebrows.

"Hey ... we have to check the source of the sound," Javar suggested, staring at his two friends with a focused look.

"Hmm." Izan murmured while nodding his head.

"Alright, I'll go too. It's safer with you guys than shitting here, just by myself," said Ajie then sighed.

The three of them stood up and walked carefully towards the center of the cave. They brought three torches to light their way. The longer they walked, the wider and taller the cave unfolded in their vision. The far-end of the cave was shaped like a large hall.

What they found in the depths of dark cave was stupefying. Their eyes were fixed, staring at three monster eggs of unknown origin. The monster's egg was shrouded in a large seal, one which they had never seen.

CRACK! CRACK!

The three eggs crackled and vibrated ominously. The egg was alive, even though there were no mother monsters to guard it. It's very rare to see a monster egg without mother protecting it, notwithstanding three of them!

Seeing this, Ajie, Javar, and Izan smiled broadly. Their cold faces had been replaced by faces of enthusiasm. Their freezing and pallid cheek turned red from their excitement.

Monster eggs were very valuable to humans in this world. When the monster hatched, the first seen person they witnessed would be seen as their parent. Therefore, monsters can be tamed and made into pets, and even more, trained to fight with their masters.

Stealing monster eggs was very serious business. Low level monster eggs were very easy to steal, but the hatchlings could never be trained to exceed the strength of their genes. This was the reason why low level monsters were only used for daily chores.

Then what about high level monsters?

Stealing eggs from high level monsters required great strength. Even then, the results were not necessarily better than the risks involved. There were many occassion where monsters destroyed a group of adventures just for trying to steal their eggs.

Finding the eggs was also very difficult, because no one knew when and where monsters lay eggs.

The three eggs that were found made Ajie's eyes light up and his lips smiled broadly.

"Hahaha ... today is our lucky day? We have three eggs, so we can each take one egg," Ajie exclaimed while holding his waist and walking towards the monster's egg.

"Hey, hey ... since when have you become cheerful like this? Some time ago you were still hiding behind me," Javar protested while holding Ajie's shoulder as Ajie walked towards the monster's egg.

"Ah, never mind ... that's just the past," Ajie said as he lowered Javar's hand on his shoulder.

Seeing Ajie's pettiness, Javar only smiled wryly. It's not strange for him to see Ajie's shameless attitude.

"I'll choose the white one," Ajie said and claimed the white egg.

"I'll take the red one," Javar exclaimed, then walked toward the red egg.

The final one was the yellow egg, taken by Izan.

Shortly after they took the eggs, the eggs hatched simultaneously and showed what was inside.

The egg Ajie got was an egg from the Heavenly Dragon. The Heavenly Dragon had white scales. Its distinctive white color was only possessed by the Heavenly Dragons of all dragon species..

The egg obtained by Javar was an egg from Fire Phoenix. Fire Phoenix released a very hot flame, even though it had just hatched. However, the power used by Javar was the power of fire. This power made him resistant to heat from Fire Phoenix.

The egg that Izan got was an egg from Golden Fox. The results that came out of the egg made Izan's eyes light up. Izan rarely shows excessive expression. This proves that the egg surprised Izan.

The three eggs they held were legendary level monster eggs.

"Hahaha ... did you see? The Heavenly Dragon. This is the Heavenly Dragon. Since when did the Heavenly Dragon lay an egg in a place like this?" said Ajie while lifting the Heavenly Dragon up high.

"Hey, look ... mine is Fire Phoenix. Legendary Monster. Can you imagine?" Javar exclaimed not wanting to lose to Ajie.

"Hoaaahhh." Izan only opened his eyes and mouth wide.

Their excitement makes them unaware of the danger that is happening around them. The seal under the egg is slowly broken.

Boom boom!

The big cave suddenly shook violently. This made the three men looked at each other with furrowed brows. Cold sweat escaped from their foreheads.

What actually happened to this big cave? they thought.

After they paid attention to their surroundings, they finally realized something. The seal under the egg they took had disappeared. They were in panic.

What have they done?

BOOOOOMMMM!!

Explosion and sonic boom could be heard from the direction of the crumbling seal.

The figure with black skin, wings, and a large body as high as 4 meters, burst out from the wrecked seal.

"Ha ha ha!" the big black creature roared.

"Finally I'm free!"
