5 Chapter 5 | A Not So Average Day

I woke up and looked around. Max and Robyn were getting ready for the day. Robyn wouldn't meet my eye but Max just looked at us weirdly. "If you guys are going to bang, maybe go to a different room." He said, picking up his bag and walking out the door. Robyn looked at me for a moment, but then looked at the floor blushing. I thought it was weird that she hated guys, but still got embarrassed at the fact of having sex with one. Me, not having a bag, got out of bed and stretched. The effects of the car crash seemed to have caught up with me and I felt sore all over. I had a major headache and as I walked out the door I almost tripped. "Are you ok?" Robyn asked, watching me. "I'm ok." I mumbled, seeing Max and walking after him. As we walked downstairs, we saw a massive heap of zombies at the door, having broken down the barricade. Us, being abit slow from having just woken up, took a moment to respond. "holy fuc-" He didn't finish that sentence before a zombie had turned towards us. We both remained unmoving and the zombie looked for a moment before starting to walk. We let out our breath and decided to run upstairs. Robyn was just coming out of the room when she saw us running towards us. "What the heck..?" She asked as Max pushed past her. He tried to open the balcony door. "Crap! Who the hell locked it!?" He asked, looking at us. Robyn also looked at me, but I just laughed nervously. "Dang it!" He said, picking up a leg from a broken wooden chair. He started beating at the glass of the door. "Hold them off!" Max said. I grabbed a leg as well and looked out the door. Five zombies had started racing ahead of the horde and came barreling towards me. I shot out the leg like a battering ram and hit one in the stomach. Robyn came from behind and started shooting at the other four with a crossbow. As I wondered where Max and her had gotten the weapons the four zombies all went down, and as we prepared for the next wave we heard a muffled scream from the room. I looked back and saw that Max had cut his hand. "Let's go!" He said, as he reached his hand through the hole he made and unlocked the door. We all went out and Max closed the door. "Now what?" Robyn asked, looking anxiously at the zombies piling into the room. Max didn't respond and instead jumped off the balcony... and landed on a fire escape! "Come on!" He shouted as I took a few steps back. I saw that Robyn was looking at the jump with fear. I realized that Robyn was scared of heights. "Let's go together." I said, holding out my hand. She looked at me and then back towards the room where zombies had almost arrived at the door. She decided on the former and took my hand. "three, two, one!" We both ran and jumped at the same time but it wasn't enough. We had missed. As we plummeted to our deaths I felt a hand grasp mine. It was Max, with his injured hand, pulling us up. He screamed just about as much as Robyn as she looked down below. He managed to pull us up and we looked at the zombies. They were staring at us hungrily through the glass door, and as me and Robyn started to head towards the stairs down, Max stuck his middle finger out at the zombies. "Not today." He said, starting to follow after us.
