"Mhmm." Amy obediently nodded, preparing to get down from Maige's embrace, but soon stopped and looked at him, slowly widening her eyes. "Father, you're hugging Amy. You can hug Amy now!"
Tears welled up in her eyes as excitement filled her little face.
Besides being able to cuddle in her Father's arms while in bed, Amy had never experienced her father's embrace before. She knew it was because of his physical condition, but she had always wanted to be held in his arms. She never expected it to happen today.
Maige smiled and gently rubbed Amy's nose. He nodded and said, "Yes, I can finally hug Xiaomi. From now on, I can lift you high up, even princess carry you. Whatever Xiaomi wants to do, I can do it for you."
When he held Amy in his arms, his own emotions were also filled with excitement. Indeed, physical health was crucial. He had to complete the current mission; he didn't want to return to the state where even walking was a struggle.
"That's wonderful. Father is so kind." Amy pressed her face against Maige's chest and rubbed against it like a little cat, expressing her happiness.
After comforting the little one for a while, Maige confirmed that there were no other discomforts in Amy's body after releasing the blue-purple flame. Only then did he feel somewhat relieved.
Furthermore, Amy demonstrated to Maige that she could now release the blue-purple fireball at any time, without the need for an incantation. Just a thought in her mind was enough to trigger it, truly instant.
Maige didn't have much knowledge about mages, and his memories of the mysterious elven princess were blurry. He couldn't even find her appearance in his memories, but he vaguely remembered that she was a powerful mage.
"It seems magical talent takes after her mother. With the instant Fireball spell, this talent should be quite good. However, she still can't control it very well." Maige stroked his chin, pondering. The concerns of his previous self were not unfounded. If the elven people were to find out about Amy's identity, who knows what might happen—whether it's harming her or taking her away—he couldn't accept any of it.
"I still need to consider the Grey Temple. Perhaps I should find a more reliable magician. I need to investigate their background thoroughly," Maige decided in his mind. He couldn't rush Amy's learning of magic; he had to consider it carefully.
Maige opened the black leather-bound menu on the table. The fine texture of the leather felt comfortable in his hands. As he flipped it open, he saw a light gray background with clear simplicity. In the top left corner, it was written in black ink: Yangzhou Fried Rice - 600 copper coins per serving. It was straightforward yet tasteful.
"This system has good taste," Maige said satisfactorily as he closed the menu.
"Father, is our restaurant really opening today?" Amy stood by and asked Maige.
"Yes, we've opened the doors, so we can consider it open for business. I hope we can sell plenty of Rainbow Fried Rice today," Maige smiled and ruffled Amy's hair. He held her little hand and walked towards the entrance.
Maige reached for the door handle, took a deep breath, and pushed it with force.
The two bells hanging on the door rang twice as the door swung open. The warm autumn sunlight spilled onto the two figures standing at the entrance, casting elongated shadows into the restaurant behind them.
"Rebirth seems quite good," Maige stood at the entrance, looking at the black signboard that read "Maimi Restaurant." Holding Amy's hand, he murmured to himself.
"What are you saying, Father?" Amy looked up at Maige, a little puzzled.
"I said, Xiaomi, having you is wonderful," Maige lowered his head and looked at the little one who hadn't reached his waist, smiling indulgently.
"Xiaomi thinks Father is also great." Amy happily ran a few circles around Maige and then cupped her hands in front of her mouth like a small trumpet, calling out to the square, "Xiaomi's family restaurant is open! Come and have a meal, we have super delicious Rainbow Fried Rice!"
Maige looked at the little one with a helpless smile. He was also extremely happy. Looking up, it was still early in the morning, and there weren't many people in Aden Square.
Not far away on the grassy field, two burly, bare-chested orcs were wrestling and practicing. A bit further, two humans dressed as merchants were standing under a tree, engaged in conversation. A tall and skilled elf hurriedly walked past, carrying a longbow on his back. Behind him, two troll children followed with curious expressions.
Maige carefully watched this scene with some astonishment. Although he had seen the appearances of various races in the memories of his previous life, witnessing it firsthand was a completely different experience.
Powerful orcs, cunning goblins, long-lived elves... Everything suddenly became so real, giving him a true sense of being in this world.
Wanting to live here with Amy in peace and comfort was not as simple as he had imagined. Maige raised an eyebrow and turned his head to look at his restaurant. Since the restaurant was located in this chaotic city, the target customers would naturally not be limited to humans alone. After all, elves, dragons, and demons were known for their indulgence in fine dining.
Aden Square was situated in the center of the chaotic city. The original city planners designed the surrounding buildings in a crescent shape, encircling the circular Aden Square. The side facing south was left empty.
Walking along this crescent from one end to the other, there were thousands of various shops, restaurants, blacksmith workshops, red-light districts, arenas, magic stores... Basically, any type of shop found in the Noland Continent could be found in Aden Square. The owners of these establishments belonged to different races as well. You could casually enter a restaurant and find out it was a flame demon-run pancake shop where they would directly grill the pancakes in their hands.
The Chaotic City was established after the signing of the Peace Agreement, driven by the desire of various races to interact with each other. Initially, the entire continent was like a flat pancake, sliced horizontally and vertically, intersecting at a point, and divided into territories for each race. The Chaotic City was built upon that intersection point, rightfully earning its title as the center of the continent.
Due to its intersection with the territories of every race, the city had eight gates, allowing people of all races to enter.
Inside the city, orcs, humans, elves, goblins, trolls, demons, dwarves... and occasionally roaming dragons coexisted. This chaotic gathering of different races gave the city its name, the Chaotic City.
However, after the initial chaos, a mysterious organization called the Gray Temple emerged within the Chaotic City to manage its order. Gradually, they developed the city into its current scale and layout. The enigmatic individuals in gray robes, known as the enforcers, maintained law and order in the city's dark corners.
Maige's restaurant was located at the tail end of Aden Square, within the crescent shape. It was the last establishment in the row.
Since the entrance to the square was on the opposite end, few people usually ventured to this side. Next to the restaurant was a weapons shop run by a dwarf, as Maige recalled. Moving forward, several shops were closed with "For Rent" signs posted on their doors. A bit further, there was a shop selling magic potions, with two birdcages hanging at the entrance, housing two sleeping parrots.
Opening a restaurant here could hardly be described as having a bustling clientele. The probability of a customer showing interest, entering the restaurant, and ordering a 600-copper-coin Yangzhou fried rice was quite low. Considering this, Maige suddenly felt that the beginning of his venture seemed a bit challenging.
