20 Chapter 20 : Captain America!!

Rogers was devastated as he smashed his fist on the ground creating cracks in the process...

He couldn't believe that since he survived and became a super-soldier he couldn't save his comrade and even his enemy died on his watch instead of interrogation...

He hadn't even noticed E.D.I.T.H flying behind him with the kid that was swimming earlier and even when they landed they saw him unresponsive...

E.D.I.T.H went ahead and raised her small fist upwards which formed into a hammer and ganged the head of Rogers which finally made him realise that he is under attack...

In his dizziness, he rolled on the ground thinking that they were HYDRA but as no one attacked him again he took this chance to clear his vision and see who it was...

When he saw the Kid and then E.D.I.T.H he relaxed and finally sat down as he watched the vial of the serum being almost spilt...

E.D.I.T.H quickly extended her hand and created a sucking pump machine which drew the Serum from the ground that had been mixed with seawater into a new vial...

"That's so cool!!! Can I fly and that as well??" The kid said making E.D.I.T.H chuckle...

"No kid... This is a prototype it hasn't been released yet to the public so keep a secret okay!!" E.D.I.T.H said while the kid nodded...

"What's the point of doing that?? The... The prototype medicine has been ruined..." Steve asked while holding his head...

"Not quite ruined as if you remove components of salt and seawater you can roughly recreate it along with the data to help the hospitals we can create it again..."

E.D.I.T.H and Steve talked about hospital medicines so that no one can realise what they were holding...

After Steve got his senses back, he stood up ready to go back...

"Hey kid, your mother must be worried..." Steve said and the kid nodded which the two brought him back to his crying mother...

As they returned back on foot, E.D.I.T.H talked about the comprehension she gave to the driver and that shop he crashed while Steve simply nodded...

When they arrived, the whole facility was a mess and they started performing routine checks which hilarious or not, no one recognised him and blocked his entrance after the fiasco...

E.D.I.T.H reported to Seion and Howard and Carter came themselves and guarantee for him before leading him to a room where Howard and Seion made sure no cams or hidden devices were hidden...

When he entered inside he saw three people along with a new face he hadn't seen and was confused...

"What's up with him??" Steve asked while no one answered him...

Erskine got up and didn't speak, he slowly approached him and placed his hand on his heart making steve had a Deja Vu with Erskine's death earlier and opened his eyes wide when he noticed everyone's smiles...

"That's impossible!! You are Er...??" Steve almost blurted his name but was cut off...

"I'm Doctor Cristopher, I assume the serum worked soldier..." Erskine said making Steve swallow his words and almost immediately realised what was happening although he wanted answers...

"It did work doctor... However, even though we managed to restore the serum we had a small accident..."

E.D.I.T.H then gave them the new vial which immediately Erskine asked for the details and Steve told him the full version of it...

When he reached the part that the Serum was mixed with seawater and salt, the doctor laughed it off while ensuring them it was a small drawback...

"So what is gonna happen now??" Steve asked...

"Howard and I will create a fake for Erskine and hide the fact that he's alive just to be safe while creating fakes to show to the world and hide the reals ones where will we use later on..."

"But that would be Steve that you would be in the limelight of HYDRA and their target... Their sole target when they realise how strong you have become..."

"Since they infiltrated this place then that means they must have your file so showing your powers like that is a big giveaway..."

"Which means you must draw their attention at all costs..." Seion finished explaining his position and Steve nodded after a few moments...

"So what do I have to do exactly??" Steve asked and at that moment he felt he would regret asking...

True to their words they let out fake news and staged everything, Abyss took the shape of Erskine so it was easy to fool the eyes in the world...

The eyes also saw that Howard took the notes and tried to recreate the formula and at this point was the same as them being in a stalemate for the Serum...

With Abraham Erskine now deceased, any hope of reproducing the Super Soldier Serum was seemingly lost.

Blood samples were taken from Rogers in hopes to replicate the formula. Out of the twelve, one was given to Howard Stark.

Rogers then spoke with Peggy Carter who insisted that if the experiment could have only worked once, Erskine would have been glad it worked on Rogers.

Finding Stark still working on the Fieser Dorsch, Rogers heard that whatever HYDRA was now working with was more technologically advanced than anything they had.

Rather than be confined to a lab while scientists attempted to rediscover Erskine's formula, Rogers tried to convince Chester Phillips to allow him to serve overseas and defeat Johann Schmidt, but Phillips refused, noting that he was not the army he had wanted, claiming Rogers was just not enough.

While Rogers was left gutted that once again he would not be able to serve in World War II as he had wanted, Brandt, however, approached Rogers and claimed that his actions in stopping Heinz Kruger and saving the young child had been noticed by the public.

Brandt then offered Rogers the chance to serve his country on the most important battlefield of the war, which Rogers had gladly accepted, with Brandt then promoting him there on the spot.

Eventually, everything was staged as it should be in Rogers life, knowing that only Erskine was working on the true formula while checking on the lists for potential Super Soldiers once again...

Brandt had ordered Rogers to go and tour the nation in a colourful costume as Captain America. Rogers agreed, tasked to promote war bonds for the Treasury Department and encourage American participation in the war effort.

Days passed and Rogers found performing difficult and awkward, still wishing to fight with his fellow soldiers against the forces of Nazi Germany and the continuing rise of HYDRA under the leadership of Johann Schmidt.

But instead, he was forced by Brandt to perform and pose for photographs to keep the morale of the people back home on the rise. Despite his awkwardness, Rogers still tried to make the best of the situation, enjoying the reactions of all the young children.

With the help of this large show featuring music and dancers, even including a fake Adolf Hitler for Rogers to knock out night after night, Captain America became a star across the country, much to the ever-growing delight of Brandt who insisted on posing for some pictures with Rogers himself.

Following each show, Rogers would sign autographs for the children who admired him and following one show he was greeted by a beautiful woman wanting an autograph from him, which made the still shy Rogers rather awkward.

The continued shows allowed Rogers to become a living icon for the American people during the war, even starring in his own comic book series and several movie serials in which he would heroically battle against and defeat the Nazis while still wearing Captain America's Uniform.

These comic books were sent overseas to France where they were enjoyed by both the United States Army soldiers as well as children back home.

Rogers continued to travel the country from state to state as his own popularity continued to grow with the wives and children whose husbands and fathers were fighting overseas against Hitler's forces.

At the end of the shows, Captain America would demonstrate his strength from the Super Soldier Serum by lifting a motorcycle and three of the dancers above his head while the music finished, much to the amazement of his ever-growing audiences.

In 1943, while touring to active servicemen in Italy, Rogers learned the soldiers of the United States Army did not enjoy his act as much as the nine-year-olds for whom he usually performed.

Instead of getting behind his message, Rogers had abuse yelled out by Gilmore Hodge and other soldiers who insisted on seeing the Star-Spangled Singers instead of Captain America himself.

Depressed at the job with Captain America's USO Show he had been given and wish to be a soldier serving on the front lines, Rogers took a free moment to sketch himself as a performing monkey.

He was then joined by Peggy Carter who tried to persuade him that he was meant for more than what he was doing, reminding him of the reasons why Abraham Erskine had selected him, commenting on how much Rogers sounded like Brandt when he attempted to defend his recent work.

Rogers, however, noted that despite all his disappointments in his current work, at least he did not end up being experimented on to gain the Super Soldier Serum while in labs.

During their conversation about his work as Captain America, Rogers watched as even more wounded soldiers returned to the base and learned that the 107th Infantry Regiment had been seemingly completely wiped out during battle against HYDRA while they had been fighting in Azzano.

Upon hearing this, Rogers realized this was Bucky Barnes' unit and desperately set out to learn if his closest friend had been killed or not during the conflict.

Running across the camp with Carter, Rogers then went immediately to Chester Phillips tent who teased Rogers over his Captain America character.

Rogers begged Phillips to inform him if Barnes was alive or dead, with Phillips explaining they believed he was gone.

Rogers demanded to know what rescue mission was taking place, but Phillips confirmed none was planned as it had been deemed far too dangerous and would risk the lives of even more soldiers.

Just as everything seemed completely dark for him, Seion and Howards came into the picture and told them to let Rogers go and take the eyes of HYDRA away from them...

Although this would be a difficult mission to pull off, it serves many purposes and one of them was to finally test the true power of Captain America...

"You mean??" Phillips asked...

"We mean that we had deliberate sent Rogers in a tour and showcase some of his ability and made that his limit, to surprise them..." Howards explained making Phillips stunned...

"This will be a mission of few... First of all, r Stark has some business and will take his plane which as it's announced to the world they won't target him..."

"This makes it's perfect for me, Steve and Carter to jump off and perform a rescue mission and a destruction one..."

Although Phillips seemingly confirmed Barnes as K.I.A., Rogers had refused to believe that Bucky was dead with Seion and Carter to aid him, this might actually work...

Howard Stark assisted them by flying him into Austria, thirty miles behind enemy lines. During the journey, Rogers had an awkward conversation with Carter when he mistakenly thought she had begun a relationship with Stark.

Which made both Howard and Seion to actually facepalmed themselves while Howard was holding the plane in the air with one hand...

This is turn made him slow to react as the plane was suddenly shot at by enemy guns and started falling down with Seion forming a shield around them with Abyss and E.D.I.T.H coming to play...
