17 Chapter 17: Deduce Spells

Note before start: As some of you had guessed, Kent is emotionally stunted. Either I purposefully made him or I myself is incapable of writing scenes involved with emotions.

The reason is the latter but not completely. The main reason is I, Author(Mike_Lu), myself is socially and emotionally stunted. I sometimes suffer from depression. I am not giving excuses but making things clear that in the future of this fanfic you might get similar emotionally stunted conversations. I will try to improve them.

Now in this chapter you will get a closer look at the system.

enjoy~

====================================

Kent was very excited tonight. It was because he had recorded almost all the books in the library except for the ones in the restricted section and it took him almost one and a half month to accomplish that.

He first thought that recording books on Transfiguration, DADA and Charms would be enough to deduce some new spells but this time he overestimated the capability of the system or it was better to say he had misinterpreted the functionality. Without relevant information, it was impossible for the system to deduce new things.

Knowledge of both Arithmancy and Ancient Runes were required to construct new spells.

As usual, it was about 11 o'clock when all the students in the Gryffindor dormitory fell asleep.

After making sure no one was awake, Kent closed the curtain to his bed.

Sitting on his bed, he opened the familiar system panel --

Kent was very disappointed with the shield charm (Protego) that witches and wizards generally uses to block curses and hexes. It can only block minor to moderate curses but fails when powerful curse is used.

So the first thing he wanted was a modified shield charm that could not only block powerful curses but also absorb the energy of the curse.

After writing a brief description of the spell in the first blank space, he chose all the information from the library that he recorded until now. He knew that the irrelevant informations would be excluded automatically.

After that, he specified the function of the shield charm -- (1) Block all kind of spells. (2) Absorb energy of the spell. (3) Block all kind of projectiles irrespective of speed or momentum. (4) Shape and size of the shield is adjustable. (5) Silent casting.

Then he clicked on the 'Submit' button and returned to the first page --

'Next, I need an offensive spell, maybe a strong paralysing spell and corresponding anti-paralysing spell. Yes, that's it!' Kent decided after few minutes of deliberation.

He briefly described the spell in the first section, selected all the information recorded in the system library and then wrote the specific functions of the spell such as, complete paralysis of body, reversible only with the corresponding anti-paralysis spell, easy to use and long ranged.

Clicking on the 'Submit' button he returned to the first page.

'What else do I need?' He pondered.

"Ah, yes. I also need a convenient way to carry my wand," Kent remembered. It was rather annoying to carry the wand in his robe's inside pocket. It also hindered his movements.

As for why he didn't use the 'Inventory' function of the system to store the wand, it was because he was afraid that his wand might get ruined inside the Inventory space.

According to the description given by the system, living things wouldn't survive inside the inventory space. Knowing that wands had sentience - a precursor to life, he assumed that wands might get affected. So he didn't want to risk it.

"Maybe something similar to inventory, exclusively keyed to my wand." Kent whispered to himself.

He repeated the same process as the previous two, describing about the spell briefly, selecting all information in the library and then choosing the desired functions. After submitting, he returned to the main system panel --

"Now that everything is done. Let's get down to usual business," Kent clicked on 'Simulation'.

His senses blanked for a very short time before he found himself standing on a grassfield that stretched as far as his eyes could see. There was a slight breeze swaying the grasses like waves of a sea.

He chose 'Fight against multiple opponents' among the list of options. Next, a prompt popped up --

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

As soon as he clicked on the 'Confirm' button, he felt a slight tremor coming from the ground.

The ground in front of him caved in to form a wide gap, about twice the size of a football field. It's bottom couldn't be seen at all. It was like staring at the abyss.

Few seconds later, the ground again trembled a little as a huge structure which looked identical to Hogwarts castle, rose from within the gap.

His senses again went blank for a short amount of time before he found that he was standing on Hogwart's grounds near the edge of the forbidden forest and the sleeping gown that he was wearing had changed into his school dress.

After that, five figures clad in black robes appeared one by one in front of him. Each one was wearing a hood with a white mask on their faces and a wand in their hands.

[Battle starts in 3...2...1...START!]

The moment the countdown was finished, five orange coloured beams were hurled toward him. With a flick of his wand, Kent erected a thin mud wall in front of him and then rolled sideways. The beams blasted the wall with debris being thrown into the air. Kent transfigured the flying debris into sharp rocks and blasted them toward the five opponents. Two of the black clad wizards used shield charm to block the rocks while the remaining three had already stepped out of the way.

Kent didn't get a breathing space, as in the next moment a giant fireball was thrown at him. He conjured water with 'Aguamenti' spell, but he clearly overestimated his powers as the amount of water he produced was not enough to counter the fireball. As a last resort, he erected another mud wall in front of him and moved away from the wall with a backflip. Meanwhile a black clothed wizard appeared behind Kent and threw a dark brown spell at him. Kent didn't need to look back as his senses had already warned him of danger at the back. Kent rolled to his right as the spell missed him by few inches.

The fight continued on for a while. The wizards cladded in black would fire spells after spells at Kent while he would dodge them, sometimes by transfiguring the ground into mud wall and sometimes by simply moving out of the way. Kent rarely used magic other than transfiguration. The once green grassfield was turning into a clutter of rocks and torn weeds as their fight progressed.

After about fifteen minutes of continuously eluding the opponent's spells, Kent was finally cornered. The five wizards had surrounded him with no room for escape.

Kent smirked and waggled his wand, pointing at the rubbles on the ground. The rocks which were sprawled all over the ground transformed into sharp projectiles and spranged at the black clothed wizards with its pointed end toward them. Four of them were incapacitated on the spot as the pointed rocks pierced through their thighs and abdomen. The one who successfully dodged the spikes was met with a cluster of sharp edged pebbles rushing toward him in the next second. In a desperate attempt to block the debris heading toward him, the black clad wizard used the shield charm but the shield was too small to cover his whole body as both of his legs were hit hard and he fell down.

A notification popped up in front of Kent's eyes. He clicked on the 'Back' button and returned to the boundless grassland.

He then exited from the Simulation space and his senses returned to reality.

In the beginning after his fifth birthday, he had assumed that whenever he enters the simulation space his real body would also get transported there and to confirm whether his theory is right or wrong, he had conducted a simple experiment.

He entered the simulation space while writing on a paper and after returning back he found himself holding the pen in the same position that he was in before entering the Simulation space. He concluded that his body would just freeze in its position when he enters the system's simulation space. So he had always been careful when and where to enter the simulation space. Due to the presence of the Peter Pettigrew in the dormitory, Kent always spends as little as he could in the simulation space. Fortunately the time flow rate of simulation space was 100 times faster compared to reality.

'I just have to wait until Christmas,' Kent sighed with resignation. After a long discussion with Hermione it was decided that they would nab Ron's rat which was Peter's animagus form before heading home for the Christmas holidays.

When he was about to close the system panel, he paused as remembered something.

"Sh*t, I almost forgot the most important thing!" He cursed out loud. Immediately after, he clicked on the 'Deduce and Optimize' and then on the 'Slot[4]' --

He filled the first blank space with --

|A comprehensive book on magical theory, correlation between different branches of magic and how they complement each other.|

Selecting all the information in the system library, he went into the next section and specified the features of the book --

|(1) Each spell (curse, hex or charm) should be easy to use and have powerful effects. (2) Tips and methods to increase magic perception (3) Eliminate incorrect theories and modify the incomplete theories into enerring and complete theories. (4) Only include error free or rectified information. (5) Don't include the exclusive knowledge of non-magical subjects like physics, chemistry, biology etc., if not required for better understanding of magical subjects.|

Going through the entries once more, he pressed the 'Submit' button and returned to the system's main panel --
