40 Confrontation

[Boss. We got some trouble out here. Definitely need you to come out.]

"How much trouble could we really have?" Jason asked Scandal

Scandal looked at the large number of angry heroes in front of her with a frown. She looked at the various newcomers among their ranks and other former villains and heroes standing next to her that were all itching for a fight.

[Lots. Make sure you bring Rose and Ivy with you.]

Jason was surprised. Scandal could handle most situations on her own, with Knockout, or with the rest of the team. For her to need their 3 other heavy hitters, something important must have happened.

Jason gathered Ivy and Rose and walked to the deck of the ship. Harley also followed along with the new hammer Jason made her since she smelled trouble.

From atop the ship, they could see what the problem was. There were already about 300 members with guns out on the deck. Jason and company pushed past them to get to the landing platform. From there, they saw what the real problem was.

Scandal and the Special Operations team along with 60 or so other members were behind them. And across from them, were 30-odd heroes. While most of them were street-level people, there were a few heavy hitters among them. Zatanna and Kid Flash were among them.

'What the fuck are they here for?'

"Red Hood to control. Activate the security bots. I just want them to record everything that is about to happen. If there is a fight, make sure you get my good side."

Jason's group of 4 rushed down the ramp to see what was going on and whether or not they wanted to beat the crap out of the heroes coming there.

"What the fuck is going on?!?!" Jason yelled over both sides that were practically at each other's throats.

The surroundings quieted down and the crowd parted like the Red Sea. Jason walked to the front to see that Batman was standing before him on the other side.

"What's up, Bats? Still upset about our last conversation?"

"Don't play with me! You ordered hits on my family! We have proof that Deadshot was involved. So the question is whether we are just bringing him in or we are taking all of you down."

Jason smirked. His eyes were full of malice while looking at Batman.

"Leave now, old man. This isn't New Gotham. This is my turf. I won't tolerate anyone disrespecting me or my people. I don't even care if your family has been targeted."

"Last chance, Todd. We're here for Deadshot."

"Piss off, Orphan!"

And that was all it took.

Batman rushed ahead, the other heroes not far behind him. Jason sent the order for the ones above them not to get involved before he rushed over with some of his group while the rest opened fire.

Jason and Bruce clashed first. Jason's heavy fists crashed into Bruce's face and caused him to fall to the ground but the Bat didn't go down with a single blow. He threw explosives at Jason's chest and knock him off balance before pulling out his electric knuckle dusters to try and close the gap in their punching strength.

The heaviest hitters targeted the other heavy hitters. Velocity vs Kid Flash, Poison Ivy against Zatanna, Knockout matching blows with Supergirl. The rest of the brawl was pretty random.

Rose was fighting Green Arrow and Black Canary by herself while Scandal had just given Huntress a nasty scar. Harley was just going wild with her hammer that had a booster in it.

The battle was intense and brutal. Both sides were suffering injuries but it was clear which side was winning.

Jason's side may have mostly been street-level like Batman's but they had the edge with his tech. Even without the henchmen/goons helping, Jason's side would have won. But with their help, it made the battle so much easier.

In minutes, all of the heroes had been put on the ground, with most of them having a gun to their heads. Each of Jason's people was just waiting for him to give the word.

Jason held Bruce at the back of his neck before making him face the heroes around them. Everyone Bruce had brought to help him now had their lives hanging by a thread.

"This is because of you," Jason said into Bruce's ear before punching him in the ribs from behind. Jason pulled out his pile bunker and was about to stab it into Bruce when he got interrupted by a shout from above.

"Enough!"

Jason and the other members of Edgerunners looked up to see that the other heroes had arrived. And not just 30ish like Batman had brought. There were at least 150 of them either flying themselves or being held up by some other hero.

The one who had spoken up and ordered them to stop was Wonder Woman.

"They come here, say one of my members is a criminal, and demand to take him away. When we refuse, they make the first move! So tell me, princess, why shouldn't I end this man?"

Jason was truly pissed. Although he expected some trouble, he didn't expect anything like this. At most, he thought it would just be him giving Batman a punch or two.

"Because he is hurting and not thinking straight. Batwing, Robin, Batwoman, Bluebird, and The Butler have all been murdered and we believe that it was Deadshot that committed these murders," Wonder Woman dropped the bombshell. She could have tried to threaten them with the other heroes around but she wanted to be diplomatic.

Everyone from Edgerunners was shocked. None of them had expected that something like this had happened.

Jason also frowned. He heard Batman say something about hits but he figured that was just another Tuesday for them. He also figured that Deadshot may have shown interest in it but hadn't actually done it. But with Wonder Woman here, that changed the story.

"When did these murders happen?"

"About an hour to an hour and a half ago. Do you have an alibi for Deadshot?" Wonder Woman asked, glad to see that Jason seemed to have calmed down

"Yeah. He's been in surgery for the past 3 hours. Should be getting out of it any moment now."

"Do you mind if I put the Lasso of Truth around you?"

Wonder Woman held the shining gold lasso in her hands. Jason looked at it for a moment before asking a question of his own.

"Just the one question?"

"Two. I also want to know if you ordered the hits."

"Fine."

Jason tossed Batman to the ground while Wonder Woman lowered herself from the sky. She tied the lasso around his right hand and asked her questions.

"Has Deadshot truly been in surgery for the past few hours?"

"Yes."

"Did you order any of your men or put out a bounty for any of the 5 people I named earlier?"

"No."

Wonder Woman nodded and took the lasso off Jason's wrist.

"Can we end this here? He came because of pain and they came to support him. This won't happen again," Wonder Woman swore to Jason

Jason waved his hand. He couldn't be bothered with this matter anymore. If he continued to press it, he would be in the wrong and get on the wrong side of the League. He also wouldn't get the money they owed him.
