Faraday's Request

After pulling up into the Crew's Garage, everyone got out, Rebecca's companion was in the sky hidden away, not even a shadow moving around to bring attention to it.

Lucy's Cat stayed in Bast, not wanting to leave the warm interior, David's own companion was in the hood of Bast in 'suitcase' form.

David walked past Falco who was leaning into the Transport messing with something in the back., entered the back and he high-fived Pilar on his way past, making his way all the way to the back to see Dorio and Main sitting together on a couch, discussing something as Kiwi was in the bathroom, it looked like she was jacked in.

David took a sit on one of the free couches with a plop, his legs spreading out as his arms lowered over the back of the couch and his head fell back as he relaxed on the couch.

''Morning David,'' Dorio said without looking up from the vidboard she was holding.

''Mornin'.'' David responded, Lucy came in to sit beside David and lean up against him, the gunfire in the distance meant Rebecca was at the range, most likely testing out the new weapons they had.

''Hey David... Give me like ten minutes, almost done then we can have the meeting.'' Maine grumbled from his focus, David waving his hand off in a signal to take his time as he just relaxed on the couch.

About twenty minutes passed, and everyone trickled into the room. Kiwi was the last as she wore a fluffy robe. Something David had made her so she doesn't need to get out always naked.

''Alright... So I talked to Faraday, and he's got a mission for us, something extremely high profile... Slot the shards.'' Maine said as he set them down, everyone taking one.

Leaning back everyone watched the information.

''Faraday wants us to hit an Arasaka transport, apparently, there is something in the main transport that he wants... Kiwi did some digging and thinks this is a job from Militech themselves, just passed down to a fixer.''

David whistled a bit, the detail was good, but there were a few things it didn't have.

Didn't have how thick the armor on the transport was, or what exactly they were trying to grab. Nothing actually important to the thing he wanted.

They couldn't even really transport the thing if it was too large... Well, David could but that's not the point.

''He said it's some kind of experimental tech, but wouldn't answer any questions about how large or big the object was.''

Kiwi leaned forward and spoke up. ''I have some information, it's not going to be light, or small. I think it's some sort of 'suit' Because that's all the information that came up really. Even with the information we got from Tanaka, he never got the 'specifications' from it, just that it was a new 'suit' meant for trial. But they hadn't found any candidates for it yet.''

David raised a brow, there were a few holes there, everyone could see it and it looked like it made Kiwi the most annoyed. The information she couldn't confirm, or get to made her upset.

David scratched at his stomach. ''Alright, so we know the when, the where, and the chance, but nothing else.... How much is the pay?''

''A few million, for each of us.'' Maine stated, causing a whistle from Pilar.

''That's some serious scratch... Like it was an offer we can't turn down the type of scratch... How are we feeling about it?''

''We're going to do it... But we need to be careful, I don't like the idea of going into it as blind as we are.'' Kiwi huffed, even now she was still typing on a Vidboard, swiping away as she tried to find things out It was almost cute how annoyed she looked in her fluffy robe.

''First sign of the job going ass up, we get out.'' Maine stated, getting nods from everyone. ''You all have your own safe houses in case we need to break up.''

''Add the Megabuilding 10 in Little China, floor 49. It's not finished yet, but it's off the grid, and unplugged from everything else. I bought it under an alias, you are already all added to its permissions.''

This got a nod from Dorio. ''Good, we needed something in little china anyway, are any other floors secured?''

''Technically, Garage four could do the same, and the only way to get to it is a stairway, but there is a way to get out, but only I can open it. You'd have to take the elevator down to the third garage, run across the said garage, and down the stairs.''

''Alright, next question, do we got stuff that can punch through armor like that?'' Falco asked, rubbing his beard.

''Punch through it? Possibly, depending on how thick the armor is... If we can't punch through it, if I can get close enough, I can get it open. Transports like this have their own net and system, but I would need to be basically on top of the thing to do it.'' David noted.

''Bast's turret can rip through normal arasaka plating. So that won't be a problem.'' Lucy added, rubbing at David's arm that was over her shoulders to hold her to him, Rebecca laid over his lap.

''The Transport can handle drones... We've also got some heavier firepower available to us after David put us into contact with Wakako.''

There was a nod from everyone, though Rebecca giggled darkly in response.

''So... You're all okay to try this job?'' Maine asked, looking over the shard again and again.

''We are... Worst case once we do this job, no matter which way it goes, we'll definitely be famous... Meaning we could start getting bigger fish to start paying us for jobs.'' Kiwi said, slamming her vidboard down. ''I just still don't like how little information we got.''

David's eyes shifted a bit as he focused, it took a moment to feel that connection but he felt for the nanites he still had around Faraday.

Once he connected he dived into the man's shard and information by seeing through his Neural net.

It really was a job that had too little information, and it sounded like the kind of job Faraday would refuse to do. He was too much of a control freak to worry about that.

After some digging and exploring Faraday's surroundings, he realized why.

Faraday was dead, inside an Arasaka interrogation chamber.

Exploring further using the nanites he found a look-alike... Well, he said that, but if someone looked right at him, they wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the living and the dead Faraday. David raised a brow a bit but he pulled back. Leaving his nanites there and leaving them a warning to simply let him know if something 'interesting' happened.

Once he was pulled away he returned to the room, everyone had already agreed to the job. Leaving them all looking at David, giving him the time to think about it all.

''Let's do it... We'll be careful, and be ready to turn tail at any point, we're mercenaries. Can't make a scratch if we're not alive to make the scratch... Falco, join me while we do maintenance on the cars and Transport, I want to make sure we're going in as strong as we can.''

Falco nodded. Everyone took out the shards as they all began to do their own thing. The 'Suit up' phase of every heist.

Falco and David both took a look at all the vehicles, making sure they were ready.

David made sure that his bike was nearby, activating its auto-driving feature for it to begin making its way here.

Walking over to Bast, David leaned in to grab his jacket and he pulled it on. A holographic display over the back now that had the letters 'ER' across the back.

Occasionally shifting to show a few pictures of his Mother Gloria, with fancy lettering saying. ''In Loving Memory.''

Over the now year he started running with them, and he felt a lot better. Having gotten over his Mothers death better, he still had some of her ashes, now instead of a plain metal urn, they were in a beautiful ceramic one. He sprinkled her ashes across the place where he and Lucy had his first date as well as a few areas that she loved while she was alive. Leaving plenty for when they would eventually take their trip to space. They could've by now easily, but David felt like it wasn't the right moment... Just not yet.

He also had given Rebecca and Lucy both a simple chain necklace with some of her ashes sprinkled into the metal used to cast it.

David had a chain as well, but it had a cross hanging from it. The same Cross his mother had always worn, recast to include some of her ashes as well.

The chain was longer, letting the cross rest closer to where his heart was. So she was always there, close to his heart.

''David, come here real quick!'' He heard Dorio call out for him from the other side of the garage where all the weight equipment was set up.

Walking over he noticed she was wearing a pair of shorts and no top, leaving her breast exposed. Already a thin layer of sweat was over her. ''Spar with me? I'd ask Maine but he's busy with Kiwi and the plan, trying to see if they can't get even a little more information from it.''

David took off his jacket, despite having just put it on, and took off his shirt.

He had already been wearing shorts, planning to go inside and change into pants but that could wait.

He did a few stretches, Dorio speaking up while he warmed up. ''David... How would you feel about taking over the crew?''

David's brows went up, stopping mid-stretch as he stared at her.
