47 David Martinez, The Fixer

It had been a few weeks since David had 'Cleaned' house, ending the dark points in his life and dealing with the Faraday clone, and even after it all... David still had no idea why there was a 'replacement' faraday, but after following all leads, after that suit heist, everything had quit for the man and he was living on borrowed money.

In these few weeks, at least two of them had been spent on just relaxing at home with Lucy and Rebecca, spending time with them and participating in a spicy threesome that had turned into about two whole days of sex.

The other weeks free had been spent still offering missions for Pilar, Falco, Kiwi, Samus, and a few other mercs that have been around at parties where he had gotten the contact information.

Then they would spread the word and more people would get his number until he got a call from someone he didn't expect he'd meet, ever.

<It's Rogue, come to the Afterlife, straight to the crypt. They'll let you through.>

David sat up from his place between Lucy's breasts, having just woken up laying over her so his face could snuggle into her soft breast and she could continue petting his head while he slept.

''Holy shit.''

''What?'' Rebecca grumbled from above Lucy, who was laid under her as Rebecca's stomach was at perfect pillow height.

''Rogue just contacted me, she wants me at the Afterlife.''

Both Rebecca and Lucy moved to look at him before Lucy used her hands and feet to kick him off the bed. ''THEN LET'S GO!''

Rebecca and Lucy had visited Afterlife before, but if you were invited by Rogue personally, that meant she had work, or she wanted to talk.

You did not turn an invitation down from Rogue.

David landed on his feet and his nanites moved, cleaning his body and putting his clothes on for him as he threw together a breakfast for the three of them. It was a quick smaller burrito, one that was easy to hold in one hand and eat and move at the same time.

He made quite a few of them, for lunch just in case as everyone made it down to Bast who was already started and warmed up. Rebecca practically vibrated in the back seat against the warm seats as she sprawled out, releasing a demonic cackle because of the warmth.

Lucy got comfortable in David's lap, snuggling up into him as they all ate, Bast driving herself to the afterlife and taking a spot away from the door.

It proved quickly why as someone was suddenly tossed out the front door and slammed into the hood of the car that thought it would be cool to park near the entrance, and by the looks of the car it already had quite a dings in it...

... Maybe they just put a car there so the bouncers had something to aim for when someone got tossed? Food for thought.

As they entered, the bouncers eyes glowed softly before they nodded, letting the three of them in.

As they descended the stairs and into the morgue-turned-bar, the music began to kick up.

Once they entered David took one glance around, a few eyes were on him, a few he recognized from the after-parties, and a few he didn't recognize.

You didn't need to prove yourself in this bar, the fact you were in the bar was proof enough that you belong here, and the fact David was in here with no iron? Meant he was a scary mother fucker.

Walking deeper into the bar, he headed down the stairs to the lower portion of the bar into the back where the 'crypt' was.

He walked to where Rogue's table was, the guard took one look at him before nodding and stepping out of his way.

Rogue was already talking to a few people around her, her eyes glowing as she balanced talking verbally and on the holo.

David took a seat comfortably, Lucy and Rebecca sitting with a purpose on either side of him. With David's thick arms across the back of the couch, he leaned back, relaxing across the couch as he let his gaze wander Rogue.

The woman had age to her, but she aged like fine wine... Or well, fine metal.

Eventually Rogue's eyes stopped glowing so the call ended, but she continued to finish her verbal conversation, the others leaving after a few minutes before she turned to look at David.

They stared at each other before Rogue gave him the slow once over before she chuckled a bit. ''Takes a lot of brass on a kid to look at me like a piece of meat.''

''More like a piece of fine dining, you get a lot more confident when you come face to face with the boogyman and survive.'' David chuckled right back, he didn't mind her calling him kid, because she might be the only person who was older than him, and had the right to be able to call him that.

''I heard about that, how did you get out?'' She asked, her legs crossing as she mimicked David's arms, letting them lay across the back of the couch.

''Luck, I took three hits, and by the time I was on my knee's, it looked like he got called away. Got really angry about it to.'' David said without batting an eye, in his original line of work, learning to lie was the first thing you learned. He knew Rogue had ways to detect him lying, but just like he had ways to make her readings show he was telling nothing but the truth.

Something he was real good at, he didn't like being good at it, but it would be harder to deal with the fact people knew that he killed one of the Smashers...

Even if another one was already reported causing havoc like a good Arasaka lap dog.

''Lucky indeed... I heard you scored big still, enough to stay out of the game if you wanted, but one of my regulars was busy because he got a job from you... Are you looking to be a fixer? Replacing Faraday?''

David chuckled, he knew Rogue wouldn't have any proof of the claim, but Rogue was smart.

Faraday let a job go bad, and then 'mysteriously' vanished off the face of the earth, and David had gone 'MIA' for a few weeks.

''Wouldn't say I'm replacing him, any gonk on the street can send someone on a mission... But what about what I send people to do?'' David asked, wondering how much of his jobs she had heard.

''You need a body, not a merc, just a body. They follow your orders, exactly, as soon as you say them, and they'll get in and out clean with a shiny new paycheck and more jobs waiting for them.'' Rogue chuckled softly, relaxing in her element, it was nice to deal with someone who didn't try to tiptoe around her, as well as the fact David never once denied he killed Faraday, so he respected her enough to know she was smart, and by saying nothing, he was giving her all she needed.

''That is how I run things, I only do jobs that I know can be completed with the available people I have. I can't have my jobs going off the rails, not unless I say so. I like to keep my jobs tight, and if I don't think someone can do my job, I don't let them take them...''

David waited a moment before he grinned. ''Not to say I don't have jobs for the idiots to...''

''I heard you also have work for the more... Normal people of Night City?'' Rogue asked, her left foot swaying gently.

A seduction technique? It was the subtle movements, that make your 'opponent' notice your body more. David knew Rogue too well to think this was just a random movement.

That didn't stop him from taking a good look at her long legs and how her hips thickened up just right before his eyes moved back toward hers.

''I do, I own a few businesses, as well as a Mega building. Need passive income, after all, not everyone is okay with slinging a gun around in people's face, or breaking into gang hideouts.''

Rogue nodded before she pulled a shard from between her breast, and then slid it across the table.

Rebecca was the one to lean forward, catching it as she returned to David's side and slotted it into his neck for him.

David's eyes glowed softly as he viewed the information.

It was an extremely well-detailed list of people, names, locations, backgrounds, and small bio's about them.

''That's a list of people, friends of friends, the family of friends, and other people that are looking for jobs, but aren't willing to do the more... Violent tasks associated with our work, if you can find jobs for them following their wishes, I'll recommend you a position at the 'Round Table'.'' Rogue had a hard time not laughing near the end.

The 'Round Table' was a joke, it was more just the table that 'Fixers' sat at, but only fixers that the 'Queen of Fixers' herself let sit down.

But if you were at the table, that meant you were legit.

''All it takes to get on the table? Easy. Give me a challenge Rogue, I can't always back up to my bedside manners.'' David rumbled, shifting to let his legs spread out a bit.

''Easy kid, I'm old and gullible. Tease me to much and I might fall right into your arms.'' Rogue turned to look at the guard near her table before she nodded to him. After the nod, the guard left them for a moment before he returned later with a briefcase.

Setting it down in front of David, the guard opened it. It was a terminal, David raised a brow as Lucy shifted forward, kneeling down in front of David with her back toward him as she began to work on the terminal, their discreet private link opening.

<It's... Oh, I see what she wants to do. She knows about your Alanta visit, there's a fixer there that went...> L

Lucy giggled, covering her mouth.

<That went rogue, she wants you to deal with them.> L

<You think Rogue would let us join in their bedside manners?> R

<Depends on how well I use my tongue I guess?>

<Oh, then we're definitely getting in.> L

<Thanks for the confidence in me.>

<Correction babe, confidence in your tongue.> R

David chuckled as Lucy returned to his side, the guard closing the terminal.

''I accept on one condition,'' David stated.

Rogue raised a brow before she nodded for him to continue.

<Rebecca, shard in your hair.>

Rebecca didn't even question how he got a shard into one of her hair bands, pulling it out she slid it across the table to Rogue.

Rogue took it and inserted it, her eyes glowed as she went over the information for a few moments before her lips parted a bit, her eyes clearing as she stared at him.

''Careful 'Grandma', parted lips is an open invitation.'' David joked, causing Rogue to close her mouth as she leaned forward, a lot more serious.

''How?'' She asked, staring at him.

''Doesn't matter 'How' Just know it's legit. Can you help me?''

Rogue watched him for a few moments, leaning back once more as she seriously considered her next words carefully before her eyes glowed.

David accepted the call as she began to speak to him through the holo and not out loud. Just in case anyone was trying to listen in.

<I accept, but I want proof that you have connections to Armstrong Inc.> Rogue

David grew a slow grin, she took the bait.

The shard showed the plains for the current Cyberwear going around from the mysterious on the rise tech company. 'Armstrong Inc'. A company taking the world by storm already. All David asked was for her to help him start outfitting the... better-performing mercs with better gear, so they could get a better return overall as fixers.

<Oh, you really are going to make me resort to my bedside manners at this rate. Here's proof.>

David's arms started to flex, showing off the custom-made gorilla arms, all the parts shifting to expose everything before they fitted back, and then he sent a file.

The only Cyberwear from Armstrong, that had a serial number.

Rogue furrowed her brows a bit before she simply nodded. Turning to look away as she ended that call and started a new one.

David didn't say anything as he stood up with the girls and made their way out of the afterlife.

They had another trip to Atlanta to plan after all.
