[Battle for Sokovia]

The renaissance-styled buildings with tiled roofing and beige concrete walls of Sokovia shuddered under the assault of Ultron's army. The legion of drones hell-bent on destroying human life by any means, fired blasts of energy into the exterior walls, reducing several apartments and stores to rubble.

Countless people raced away from the army of robots, large amounts were shot down by energy beams. The robots scoured the skies like hawks looking for their next prey, the blue thrusters producing a smoke trail behind them. With no one to stop the highly advanced metal soldiers, the citizens of Sokovia were used as target practice. They shot blasts of energy with a single goal in mind: eliminate humans.

August and his family were darting through the city, trying to avoid the units of robots plundering the lives of his fellow citizens. His cheeks were caked with the dust from the rubble, the occasional cough escaping his mouth. The grey skies air clouded their vision and they could occasionally see

His mother was still dressed in her waiter's outfit and Laura was in her school uniform just like him. The attack came suddenly and they luckily managed to meet up amidst the chaos.

They kept rushing through the city fervently, zipping in and out of each building quickly. The robots began to appear more frequently and August knew it was only a matter of time before they were eliminated by the emotionless metal constructs.

While heading to another building, a robot spotted them with its slim, bright blue eyes. The head spun in their direction instantaneously and rested its cold blue eyes on the family. August shuddered at the look on the robot and he could feel his body tense. The sharp eyes seemed to pierce through his soul and paralyzed him, helplessly awaiting death. August closed his eyes, waiting for the bright light to swallow him whole, promising him endless sleep, however, he was surprised to hear its body fall to the floor with a thud.

Thud!

The robot had an arrow stuck through its head, the black, empty eyes a clear sign of its 'death'. A man with a bow and arrow rushed after the robots with incredible footwork, the rubble-strewn ground failed to hinder his movements at all. August watched with wonder as the man moved like a skilled assassin, always hitting the mark and changing positions effortlessly.

Snapping out of his daze, August ran away from the scene with his family in tow. Laura's small legs were painted with dirt and her breathing was heavy from the running. His mother's pencil skirt was similarly dirtied with dust and ripped in several areas from scraping against the walls.

Rumble!

They felt a large quake in the earth, the tile-roofed buildings shook as well. August maintained balance except for his sister, who had fallen to the ground and scraped up her hands while trying to break her fall.

Everyone felt a large shift at first, just like an earthquake, except a large crack was beginning to form near the trio. Their area was starting to raise, while the other stayed put.

"The city is rising!" August exclaimed out loud

His breath quickened and sweat dripped from his brow at the scene before him. August's green eyes dilated when looking at the edges of the city tearing away from the ground, rising into the sky.

August's scrambled out of the building, concrete was quickly crumbling down onto them. August and Laura were safe, but he couldn't see his mother amongst the collapsing building. He circled the outside of the building to see where she was, however, came up empty as the building severed from the floating city.

A paralyzing electric sensation bounced around each of their nerves, leaving them stationary for several seconds. Both August's and Laura's eyes grew wide in dread as they could only watch while the building dropped from the now floating city.

August couldn't see the building anymore, it was reduced to piles of concrete several thousand feet below. A lump formed in August's throat as he pictured the scene all over again. Small streaks of tears wetted the siblings' faces as they stared at the now empty space before them.

Soon, August's reddened eyes saw the broken figure of a robot on the ground. A piece of concrete was pressed against its platinum-like body and its eyes were black. August furrowed his eyebrows, picked it up, and threw it from the steadily rising platform, watching it fall out of view.

With anger still burning in his reddened eyes, August threw several more metal bodies off of the platform. His figure dashed from robot to robot, throwing them off the rising city like a wild animal.

Laura watched with depressed eyes as her brother lashed out in anger at the robots. Her tiny figure remained still in the middle of the road, littered with the rubble of buildings. She had her hands clasped to each other just underneath her chin and would kick a piece of concrete off of the flying structure every now and then.

Laura looked at her brother's back rising and falling from the effort used to send robots off of the rising city. The sweat created a gleam to his skin and glare when looking at his body. She could see his hands ball up into fists and shake slightly; she wondered if this was even her brother that she saw a day ago.

She approached him slowly and grasped his hand in hers, the tension slowly releasing from her brother's hand. Laura saw her brother's conflicted expression and was soon dragged along with him as they walked to the enormous ship in the distance.

Captain America was running around with his shield, destroying the robots left and right. The SHIELD agents provided cover for the incoming passengers and made sure each of them was given medical treatment. The duo couldn't see the other Avengers but was sure they were doing their best against this disaster.

August and Laura were led into the helicarrier, shielded from the chaos around them, and sat on grey seats with light padding similar to airports. It was noisy and people could be seen sobbing left and right. Parents held their children tightly, afraid to lose them in the sea of people inside the helicarrier.

One individual with a yellow vest came up to check on their conditions. The person's face expressed concern and an undeniable determination to help everyone aboard the helicarrier. With gentle hands, they skillfully patched up their injuries one by one.

August sat there amidst an array of people experiencing a myriad of emotions, and he held Laura's hand tightly whilst they sat together. He didn't want to lose her as well, and he didn't know what would happen if he did. She was the only light left in his cold, dark world.

His eyes slightly widened as the whole city began accelerating downwards at an increased pace. A large mass of lightning emerged from darkened clouds and sped directly towards the center of the descending city.

Boom!

The lightning's energy created an extremely bright explosion with a multitude of colors, sending bits and pieces of the city cascading to the earth below. Meanwhile, the SHIELD helicarrier remained stationary until the falling debris landed on the earth.

After several minutes of flying away from the impact zone, citizens were dropped at a nearby city to receive medical treatment. August, Laura, and the almost invisible B.B. exited the gigantic ship to head to the nearest foster care center.

They were officially parentless now, and August knew he didn't have the means to provide for his little sister or himself.
