The days approached closer and closer to Christmas Day as time continued on. The streets were cluttered with signs and businesses had lights strewn about the front of their buildings, lighting the street with an array of colors.

People were dressed in winter coats, mittens, and just about anything to fight off the cold temperatures this time of the year. The occasional person could be seen slipping on un-salted ice and swearing their bad luck.

"Shi- atsu massages are awesome!" August quickly caught himself before swearing as he slipped on the ice, hitting his butt on the cold concrete sidewalk.

Laura stopped walking to laugh at his fall, almost slipping herself, before continuing her chuckling. August continued to curse his bad luck silently as he slowly started to get up.

August's brown parka coat was covered in snow near the bottom, including the top half of his jeans. They continued walking the streets until they reached their small house, surrounded by leafless trees and powdery snow.

Today was December 25, Christmas Day, and August couldn't wait to reveal B.B. to his mother. He and Laura spent a small sum of money to acquire gifts earlier that day and returned with a few, already packaged for Christmas. They only needed to wait until their mom got off of work to open the gifts.

After only 2 hours of waiting, their door creaked open and their mother walked into the house, receiving a hug from Laura. August welcomed her home with a simple wave, sitting on the couch casting a long gaze at the small number of presents under their Christmas tree.

He and Laura were dressed in reindeer onesies with horns protruding from the hooded area. A large box was located behind the tree, hidden from view.

"Let me get ready and then we can start opening your presents." said their mother before she went into her room to change

A few minutes later, she came back with a reindeer onesie with similar features as the ones her children were wearing. She sat on the floor while Laura and August began sorting out the presents for each other.

Laura had the largest amount and decided to start first, trashing the living room with wrapping paper. She was astounded by the fluffy bear, new shoes, and magnetic earrings given by her family members.

"Thank you!" She immediately clipped the earrings onto herself and put on her new shoes, running around with her fluffy teddy bear. The earring swayed back and forth as she maneuvered around the house, eventually ending back up in the living room out of breath and trying to suck in air while laying on the floor.

Next up, August opened his presents and noticed the robotic theme immediately. He got a mouse pad reading "Robots make the world suck less" and a gift card to his favorite engineering store in town.

"Thank you, I love these gifts." he placed the gifts behind him as he waited for his mother to finish opening her's

She opened her gifts, receiving a gift card for a coffee shop and 2 new shirts to cover for all of the times stuff was spilled onto her other ones.

Before she could get up, August motioned her to sit back down and wait for her last gift.

"Mom, this present is from me and Laura, in fact, Laura even helped with the finishing touches. B.B. come on out!" said August before the large box in the back broke open and a small yellow-colored robot stepped out

"B.B. is ready for service. How may I be of assistance?" said B.B. with a slightly scratchy high pitched voice while he remained stationary

Their mother just stood there baffled by the sight before her, a robot able to walk on its own and talk as well. While she stared at the robot small droplets cascaded down her face and hit the wooden boards underneath her. She eventually reached out her hand and touched the robot, only to be astounded by the small hum felt through the plated body.

"I...It's wonderful August. I love it." she managed to let out a few words before she hugged August.

"So how does it work?" asked his mother immediately after they separated

"Just say what you want him to clean: the kitchen, living room, Laura's room- Ouch!" August replied to his mother before receiving a punch to the side by Laura

"My room is cleaner than yours!" responded Laura with furrowed eyebrows

Their mom ignored the banter and asked B.B. to clean things left and right. By the time she was done, the house was spotless and even the mountain of wrapping paper was cleaned up. They ended the day with the regular dinner and finished with the Christmas movie: Elf.

After the movie, everyone was sleeping with their mouths open. Laura had a giant bowl of popcorn half her size and August had cookie crumbs at the edge of his mouth. Their mother rested against the arm of the couch with a pillow to support her head and was the only one to be in a half-decent state.

The days progressed after Christmas with B.B. doing a regular job of cleaning the house, making sure it was spotless according to August's mother. Now that B.B. was there, all she had to do was make dinner and head to bed- quite the carefree home life.

August and Laura continued to head to school and study, well, Laura studied but August worked on new creations. Their mother still worked at the diner and waited tables as if her life depended on it.

Over several hours, robots were seen scouring Sokovia, plundering stores across the country. Their glowing eyes and wire strung bodies haunted the shadows of Sokovia at night. Their silver figures marched through cities inconspicuously and were occasionally noticed due to the clanking of metal on the hard concrete. The tree branches hung low with dreariness and spread an aura of unease as the nights continued to pass.

August and Laura were headed home after a long day of school, they were both exhausted from the boring lectures of their classes. The orange sky was beaming above them as the darkness began swallowing the light. Their shadows stretched farther as they continued to walk home, the residences become less and less frequent.

They saw their house in the distance, secluded and surrounded by large spruce trees covered in snow which presented an air of adventurousness and sanctity quite unlike the city. From the shadows, silver gleamed and glowing blue eyes could be seen observing them. August noticed the minute detail due to his acute sense and he slightly lowered his poster like a person about to run.

The air, which was already cold seemed to drop even further and his coated figure shook ever so slightly from the image. Those cold eyes, no emotion, studiously gazed at their shapes as if scanning them.

Luckily, August had not alerted Laura as she kicked the snow while she walked ahead of him. She was oblivious of the danger, a novelty August wishes he had in his pain-riddled life. August was still looking at the metallic robot and ended up getting a face full of snow from Laura.

"What are you staring at?" she paused and looked at him like he was an idiot "I know trees are cool but to think you liked a specific one?" Laura had a sarcastic smile plastered on her face

August's eyebrows lowered and his face dropped "Huh" a smile crept up his face "If you keep staring at me I will think you are one of those creepy sisters that love their older brothers?" a devilish smile spread across his face

Laura recoiled in disgust "Ew, gross! You had to make it even weirder!" her hand quickly covered her mouth and she ran inside the wooden house

When August entered, he could hear the sounds of dry heaving coming from the bathroom located in the hallway. His smile indicated his satisfaction with his work and he settled into their leather couch while B.B. cleaned away endlessly.
