Chapter 4 - Avoids him like a plague

Tang Li Mei turned toward the group of men who were standing only a few meters away from her.

The night wind blew as coldness wrapped their bodies.

The scent of roses and peach blossoms, along with the scent of rain, gave a unique fragrance to the surroundings.

Her hood fell off her head as her dark, long tresses, held in a ponytail, danced with the wind.

Her cold grey eyes calmly studied her opponents.

Ten burly men were standing before her. Among them, the one standing in front with a scar running along his face to the neck looked the fiercest.

"You bitch, where did you take our boss to!??" The man with the scar growled in anger.

He immediately pulled a gun at her.

"You should worry about yourself first?? Whether you and your comrades can make it out of here alive? Or not?" She eerily asked.

Her calm aura combined with her cold grey eyes gave them a chill in their souls.

"You guys want to fight? Then let's make it quick; I have other business to attend to." She nonchalantly stated this while checking the time on her watch.

"You!!! Little girl, if you know what's good for you, then take us to our boss, and maybe I'll give you a quick death; otherwise, I'll make sure to give you something far worse than death." The scarred man sneered.

"That depends on whether you have the ability." She sneered and ran towards them.

Tang Li Mei saw a man in a grey suit from the corner of her eye walking towards the Rose Garden while talking to someone on the phone. Her eyes darkened.

"Shit!!" she cursed in a low voice.

Quickly dodging the punch from the scarred man, she leaped towards the man in a grey suit.

Even though she wanted to finish this fast and leave, she would never let an innocent get hurt in her presence.

She quickly shoved his body towards the peach blossom tree.

The man's back hit the tree bottom, and his phone fell on the grass.

He lifted his head and narrowed his eyes, only to see a woman with pale grey eyes and long, black hair staring back at him.

His eyes widened, mesmerized by those cold grey eyes.

Tang Li Mei's heart skipped a beat when her gaze met those pale blue ones.

The man's features were extremely familiar, but she couldn't pinpoint them in the given situation.

"Stay here; don't move if you want to live," she whispered in a grim voice before running off toward the group of men.

Tang Li Mei rushed with two daggers; she flew towards them and landed a swift kick in the abdomen of the first man.

Slashing his throat, she went for her second kill.

Her actions were neat and deadly.

Tang Li Mei knew she didn't have the luxury to make mistakes; otherwise, it would cost her her own life.

Punching, slashing, and tearing their throats off, she ruthlessly killed them.

The rest of them had a horror look on their faces, and their bodies shivered.

As she jumped away and landed on the ground after her last kill, she looked at all the corpses lying in a pool of blood.

Even though she single-handedly took care of the group of men, not a drop of blood fell on her clothes.

Nor was there any sign of tiredness or breathlessness on her face.

The man standing behind her had glazed eyes, and a radiant smile appeared on his lips.

If anyone saw him, they would feel that there was a visible amount of pride in his eyes that were staring at her.

Even he couldn't comprehend where these feelings came from.

"Watch out!" the blue-eyed man warned as his eyes lay on the person behind her.

Tang Li Mei quickly turned around to dodge; however, she was a second late as a kick landed on her abdomen.

She closed her eyes, anticipating her fall but it never came.

Instead, she felt a warm and tight grasp around her waist .

The blue-eyed man quickly held her waist, and with a twist, he landed a kick in the abdomen of the scarred man.

However he still couldn't save them from the fall, which quickly and painfully greeted them.

"THUD!!!" A loud sound of a back slamming was heard before a pained moan reached her ears.

"Are you alright?" He clenched his teeth and asked, his tone laced with concern.

Tang Li Mei stiffened at their close proximity. She paused and lightly shivered when she felt his breath on her nape.

She calmed herself before giving him a small nod.

When the man saw the sudden redness at the tips of her ears and neck, he couldn't help but marvel at the sight.

Before they could get up, the scarred man launched another punch, but this time Tang Li Mei was quick to stop the attack with her fists and slash her dagger, chopping off his hand.

"AHHHHHHH!!!!!!" He screamed, stumbling behind him as his eyes widened in horror.

He quickly tried to grab onto the nearest thing with his other hand to cover his fall. Pulling onto the black cloth covering her face, he stumbled and pulled Tang Li Mei with him.

If it weren't for his strong arms that held her waist tightly in place, she would have fallen into the pool of blood.

The scarred man tried to run for it, but it was too late.

Tang Li Mei flew towards him and swiftly slashed his throat.

His body collapsed, and his breathing stopped.

Tang Li Mei turned around to check on the man behind her.

The moment she turned, he was mesmerized by her beauty.

With her cold grey eyes, sharp eyebrows, small, slender nose, soft cherry-red lips, and flushed cheeks, she looked like a goddess.

A cute, kissable goddess at that.

'Fuck!! Where did that thought come from?' he questioned himself absent-mindedly.

Tang Li Mei looked at his reaction, and that's when she remembered her face being exposed.

She quickly pulled on the black cloth to cover her face.

When their gazes met again, she was bewitched by him.

She had seen her fair share of handsome men, but his features were by far the best.

With light blue eyes like the sky, a concrete jaw, bristly eyebrows, defined cheekbones, a straight nose, and red lips, His broad shoulders looked like they could carry a mountain.

His entire body screamed masculinity.

This man looked more and more handsome as she kept looking.

"Are you alright?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

He nodded his head like a rattle, unable to form any words.

"Xiao Mei!!" She quickly looked in the direction the voice came from.

A man in his mid-twenties waved his hand as he rushed towards them.

But his handsome face had a look of fury in it.

His features were quite similar to those of the blue-eyed man.

He had soft features, Auburn eyes instead of blue, and his hair was dyed blonde, unlike the blue-eyed man whose head was full of dark brown hair.

Realization hit her as she looked at both of them.

"Big brother, you are here too?" he asked. The blue-eyed man nodded his head absentmindedly.

"Han Zihao," Tang Li Mei politely greeted him with a nod as the other party wore a grave look on his face.

"Xiao Mei!! How many times have I warned you on the call yesterday? Anywhere is fine, but not my beautiful garden and my precious flowers. What if someone saw this?" He complained, pointing towards his garden and the corpses.

He tried to sound angry, but his eyes gave away the act.

"Then clean this up before people start coming and questioning you." She rolled her eyes, replying quietly, before turning around to leave.

"We have been friends for four years now. Why is it that you couldn't even tell me about your interest in that painting? I own this place; can I not help you a little bit by doing this?" He sulkily stated:

Tang Li Mei gave him a sharp look, and that shut him up.

He understood her line of thought. She would never take advantage of her friends, especially when it came to business.

There was a strict line drawn between her personal and professional lives.

"Where is Xi'er? I saw her come with you." He quickly changed the topic to avoid the woman's inner demon from lashing out at him.

His voice contained lots of mixed emotions, and he hoped today would be the day they would meet again after two months.

But he was also worried that his expectation would remain an expectation and never become a reality.

"She left some time ago," she explained before giving him a serious look.

"Zihao, let me give you a piece of advice. If you like something, then you should try hard to get it. And if you failed, then you should try your best to get it again."

Han Zihao had a confused look on his face.

His brother, on the other hand, wanted to smack open his head to see what was filled in them.

"You!!" The blue-eyed man sneered at him in disgust.

"Big brother, what happened?" The blonde haired man asked him innocently, for which he received a cold glare in return.

'So embarrassing!! How did his sweet and smart parents give birth to a lunatic like him?'

It was a mystery to him.

Tang Li Mei tried to hold back the chuckle that almost escaped listening to these brothers's antics.

She continued.

"Ahem." That got their attention back to her.

"But this time you should change your tactics. What if someone else also tried to get the thing that you wanted, then you can only wait for it to be snatched away." She smirked.

Han Zihao suddenly had an unsettling feeling in his heart.

He turned around to look at the woman in a black cloak, who stared back at him.

"Xiao Mei, you of all people know how she avoids me like a plague. How am I supposed to ask her out when she won't even respond to any of my texts?" Han Zihao responded, his voice laced with disappointment and sadness as a mocking smile appeared.

He knew he had a long way to go, but that doesn't mean he was not worried about someone else snatching her away under his nose.

"That's something you need to figure out yourself," she replied.

"Alright, now off you go. I have a big mess to clean up." He shooed her away, waving his hands, trying to eliminate the gloomy atmosphere.

The blue-eyed man quietly stood beside them and carefully noted her features.

Tang Li Mei turned towards the blue-eyed man.

"Thank you for your help today. In the future, if I get a chance, I'll compensate you." She politely thanked him.

"Also, you should get a checkup done for your back. You took quite a hard hit there."

Tang Li Mei looked at him once more before quickly turning around and disappearing into the night.

Leaving the two brothers to clean up the mess left by her.
