The worst part however for Saya was that she couldn't report this to her tribe and expect to get an answer before the egg hatched since it would take at least four months for her message to reach her tribe and for their answer to reach her in total. From Alex's description Saya knew she only had two months before the egg could hatch at the earliest and three at the latest. This meant she could only report her own personal decision in response to this and hope the tribe could understand her situation.

"Alright so the plan for this egg is to care for it until it hatches and see if it is possible to tame the wyvern within after that correct?" The commander asked less out of concern and more out of trying to get his facts for the report to the guild straight. Alex nodded and the commander penned down this information before rolling up the paper and storing it with the rest of the next report. Once that impromptu meeting was over Alex retired to his nest where the exhaustion finally caught up with him and he fell deep asleep immediately.

A few people went to check on Him when he didn't leave his nest again for the rest of the day but when they saw him asleep they left thinking he was taking a lazy day to relax. The next morning Alex woke up hungry but otherwise hale and hearty. A quick trip to the reef saw his hunger satiated as he ate the last octopus he needed for the [enhanced heart] trait along with a gastrone tuna that didn't swim away fast enough. Besides that however Alex was surprised to learn that another monster had appeared at the reef to take the gobul's place.

This monster was not one Alex recognized at all since it was a brown reptile about the size of a great jagras with a body shape similar to a crocodile. It had long claws with webbing between them and a long thick neck with a draconic head at the end. This monster also lacked any sort of a tail but the most striking feature was that it had what appeared to be coral and kelp growing out of it's entire body that was bright red like it was made of blood. Alex wisely decided to not confront this unknown monster until he knew what it was and what it was capable of.

The scholars were confused when Alex described the monster since they had never heard of such a thing before but said they would check the records of known monsters just in case. Alex didn't think he had discovered some sort of new monster but was hopeful he had since the oceans were the most unknown place monster wise of anywhere. It wouldn't be all that weird if the monster was completely new and tended to lurk in the waters around the new world but had simply not been noticed due to no one hunting under the water here.

This wasn't that unusual either since as far as Alex knew very few hunters chose to specialize in water based monsters since most of the time it was the ones on land causing trouble. This had unfortunately also meant that compared to the land there were actually very few known water dwelling monsters. Like anytime Alex finds something that could be considered valuable this new monster was recorded in the report to be sent to the guild at the end of the month with the rest of the report.

Alex actually got and interesting offer from Zain regarding this monster when he learned about it for a cooperative hunt. this would technically be the first recorded instance of Alex hunting with a person should he accept but Alex was not sure whether he even needed Zain's help to take the monster down. Zain didn't press the issue but simply told alex to give it a good think over before leaving to go take care of a great jagras that had started causing problems. When the scholars confirmed that this was indeed a new species of monster Alex as the discoverer got naming rights , he chose Laventis
