3 The Unexpected Guest

"I'm sorry"

Darren blinked and stared straight ahead at the walls of the office he now owned. Something that used to be his father's. He didn't realize that he was holding his breath for the long minute of listening to Lee's voice over the telephone. Much to his chagrin, he did not appreciate it one bit.

Two words. Those two words Darren was greeted with as he answered the call was something he did not fully expect. Because it meant that Lee had failed to acquire the services of that lawyer. His supposed lawyer! He's too prideful and too confident to admit that he had doubts of his own, he knew it inside him but he didn't acknowledge it because he's Darren Chu and no one, absolutely no one gets to say no to him. Not even for people who don't know who he is, he gets what he wants.

Darren sighed, trying to contain the boiling madness inside him. It's not Lee's fault, he tried to remind himself but it doesn't help. And Darren knew once he opens his mouth, everything would be done for.

He did it once. He opened his mouth when he didn't get his way and Lily slapped him. She put him in his place and did not condone his uncontrolled brattiness. She did not tolerate his spoiled ass.

It's been a week. He's been waiting for a week for Lee's update, tell him he got himself a lawyer but when the telephone rang, all Lee said was that apology.

He's this close in shouting. So close in bombarding Lee about the stress that's building up inside him, so close in blowing off and would bitch Lee and point out that it's all his fault. His incompetent strategies are the one to be blamed for this unfortunate news. But he held his tongue back. He bit it hard it hurt.

"Ren?" he heard Lee call on the other side and Darren closed his eyes, trying to picture a happy moment. It won't do any good if he's gonna blow off some steam to his friend.

"The house is closed for a month" without waiting for any response on the other line, Darren ended the call. Lee would know what he meant and Darren would not be disturbed or else, any grudges and rants would be thrown in their way. Both Lily and Lee knows what will come their way if they go against him right now.

He glared at the innocent cup of coffee in front of him. It's everything's fault! Everyone! Idiots! Stupid! Incompetent! Utterly useless!

If he can only go out of this house he so now treats as a confined cell to constrain the likes of him, he would be having his new lawyer immediately.

"Stupid cup" he murmured, eyebrows furrowed as he crossed his legs and his arms. Trying to think of something, something to do. Thinking of other lawyer but the slight drawback is that he doesn't know a lot of people and because he's Darren Chu, people know him and not the other way around.

A ring of the doorbell interrupted his trance. He huffed in annoyance and begrudgingly stood in his feet and walked towards it. Angry. Mad. Pissed off. Didn't Lee get what he said that the house would be closed to them for a month? Didn't Lee send Lily the memo?

Oh. They're in for an earful. He's Darren Chu and he's dramatic for that reason alone.

He quickly pulled the door opened with daggers as a glare and without focusing who it is for he was sure it'll be either Lee or Lily, he opened his mouth.

"Didn't I say that the house is closed for a month?! What part of it didn't you understand? Are you really this daft? You want me to say it in five different languages? Pete's sake gET THE HELL OUT -

"Woah there pretty. Calm your fucking balls and tits down"

Once again, Darren found himself blinking. Who the hell is this? T-this - this. . . Who the hell is he?

"Who are you? And what are you doing here?" Darren thanked everyone, even if he doesn't want to, for his acting lessons. It certainly paid off.

Because if he says so himself, he's absolutely gobsmacked. He nearly and dramatically fell in his feet. For who appeared on his doorstep is nothing out of this world. So nothing out of the world he's living in.

Those prominent and gorgeous features did wonders within him. A man stood aristocratic though laid back, he was marvelous. He is marvelous. Something to drool at. The perfection to make a man like this was supernatural.

He wore a a fitted shirt underneath the leather jacket. It did nothing to hide his taut muscles. So high-strung and tense and rigid and hard. And those rose tattoos in his neck running down his neck and covered by the shirt made Darren suddenly wanting to drool. It looked gentle and soft and beautiful in contrast to his sharp and handsome and manly appearance.

And Darren did not forget how his manly and yet with a hint of sweet scent lingered in his nostrils when he inhaled. Darren certainly was astonished.

But as a Chu must hold himself high, confident, and high on their horses, he stood straight with eyebrows raised and looked at him in his sharp silvery eyes that Darren was pretty sure glinted mischief and amusement. It twirled in his eyes and it played in that cool smirk displayed in his lips.

"Leave if you're here to mock my family or to interview me" Darren said seriously and when the man chuckled deep in his throat, Darren suddenly felt annoyed.

He's attractive, handsome, gorgeous, tall, and muscular and yet, yes he's annoyed. And now realizing that this man just walked passed their gate infuriates him. This is trespassing. He could charge him with that so he began to speak.

"You won't get anything from me so lea-

"I need help Sir" he once again cut him off. Looking at him straight in the eyes, Darren's eyebrow raised even higher. He pointed at the parked motorcycle just outside their huge gate. "It suddenly stopped working"

"Do I look like I offer help? No so leave" he demanded and crossed his arms. Darren didn't miss the way the other man's eyes followed his movement and moving his eyes lower and later on swept back up.

Darren suddenly felt conscious under the man's scrutiny. He remembered he was only wearing his oversized shirt with nothing underneath but a pair of fitted boxers. But he still held his head high. Not wanting to show the man in front of him that he was intimidated.

"No" the man started and tilted his head, easily slipping his hands in the pocket of his trousers. "But I do" he added.

Darren's annoyed expression turned into confusion. "What?"

"House arrest. Exciting. What did you do?"

Darren suddenly looked so affronted. How dare this man frankly tell that to him?!

"I don't need your help" he sneered and made an action to close the door in front of his face but the man's reflexes were faster than Darren's movements.

"My ride's broken Sir. I need a place to stay"
