9 Chapter 9 Be safe

"You need to be aware of the people around you. Hopefully you are safe because you are always around your siblings in the hospital." detective Jonus answered causiously, "I will make sure that you have someone with you at the hospital just to be on the safe side".

Sara was escorted back to the hospital with an officer, who would be keeping a close eye on them there. This made Sara safe.

She sat thinking of who it could be? Who could do them harm? The twins surely were safe or did they see something they shouldn't? Why would some one be so heartless to hurt children? Now she could only worry about their safety. She will need to always be closer to them.

Jonathan knocked at the door. Sara was in deep thought she didn't hear him. He came closer and tapped on her shoulder which made her jump.

"Oh I'm awfully sorry I didn't mean to scare you. I've just come to see how you were. Also to ask about Ruby and Charlie."

" They are fine thank you. Still the same, the doctor still says they need to be asleep. To recover properly so they are keeping them sedated. I am also doing fine. Thanks for asking. Don't say you've come all this way to ask about us?"

"i was here on business and you popped into my mind and I thought I'd come pay a visit." he explained. "Do you want to grab a bite to eat or get some coffee at the canteen?" he enquired.

Sara was hesitant. "I bet you haven't eaten all day?" asked Jonathan.

" Your right I was so busy sorting stuff out with the police I've not had a chance to eat. OK come on let's grab a bite to eat". Sara smiled she needed a distraction as she was over thinking everything and the longer she pondered about what had happened the more frustrated she would have become. Jonathan had come at the right time.

They chatted and ate. Sara become comfortable talking to Jonathan. They had only know each other for a few weeks but they had so much in common. They liked similar programmes. They enjoyed sport and going cinemas and even liked similar foods. Both were not keen on drinking neither.

Jonathan passed Sara a business card. "this is just in case you wanted to contact me or just wanted to chat. I'm all ears." he smiled as he passed the card.

"thank you" Sara took the card.

All of a sudden Sara realised something.

"By the way when you came in to the room was there an officer outside didn't he stop you or ask you any questions? I just remembered he came with me from the station but I didn't notice him when we left the room." Sara enquired.

"No i didn't see anyone. Maybe he went to the toilet or something."

"he would have said if he was going anywhere" answered sara

"can we go back to the room I just think something is wrong. Maybe it's nothing but I have a strange feeling."

Sara and Jonathan walked back quickly as Sara felt stressed. When they reached the room, there was no officer outside again.

"He would have been back by now if he had gone to the toilet." She thought it to be strange. She could hear the monitor beeping and as she looked towards Charlie he was struggling to breath. His oxygen had been turned off. Quickly she sounded the alarm for the nurse or doctor to come.

A nurse rushed in. She ran towards the bed where Charlie lay. She observed and quickly turned the oxygen machine on and turned it up. The monitor beeped louder Charlie was in distress. She continued to monitor the screen to see if his breathing would regulate and to see if his heart rate would come down. Slowly but surely he regained normality.

"What happened?" asked the nurse.

"we are not sure as we came back from lunch we found him like this" both Jonathan and Sara explained.

"I need to report this someone switched all the oxygen off"

"Nurse do you know where the office has gone he was supposed to keep watch?"

"I saw him earlier but for the past two hours or so I haven't seen him." she replied.

Now Sara was worried someone has done this on purpose and the officer was no where to be seen. She reached for her phone and rang detective Jonus.

He answered and she explained what had happened. He told her to stay there and not to go anywhere until he arrived.
