14 CHAPTER #14:Night queen.

- "There it is!" I cried out once again in dismay.

"No! I don't! I don't know. I don't have any love interest." I replied abruptly.

Even hearing the word love interest brought an ugly feeling and a vile taste to my mouth. This kind of love is what ruined me in my past life. Loving someone like that is what I could not bring myself to do anymore.

I hated it. I hate all men be it this world or the other. I swore to myself that I will never love anymore.

I gritted my teeth and the room went silent.

"I...think lady Luna is a bit sensitive to this kind of thing." Abigail glanced at Eirlyn.

She was trembling slightly.

I regretted showing this side to them.

"What would they think about me? Will they abandon me like the Luna of the original novel was abandoned?"

"Lady Luna are you alright?" Eirlyn looked at me.

I looked at them and realized that those were not the faces made in contempt but they were expressing genuine emotions of care and trust.

"I apologize for startling you like this. As you can see I recalled something unfortunate from the past. I don't wish to participate any further in this topic. That's all." I smiled and climbed inside the blanket.

"I apologize for bringing up something like that. It was foolish of me to do so." Abigail clung to my arm.

I wonder if it was out of habit. But the next moment I felt my left arm being pulled as well. Eirlyn was clinging onto the other side.

"Good night Ladies." Eirlyn blew out the lamp.

Before I knew it I was sleeping soundly. Until I heard laughter. I woke up a bit irritated. It was past three in the morning. I could hear the sound of the big longcase clock in the main building's stairway. I sneaked out of the bed carefully as to not wake up the soundly asleep girls.

Abigail had an unusual posture during her sleep. It showed how much of a carefree child she was. I tucked her into the quilt and tiptoed out of the room into the hallway. I glanced at either side of the hallway to ensure that no one spotted me.

Again I heard the same laughter. It sounded more as if a child was playing a kind of prank.

"Could it be that brat Alexander?" I assumed but ended with a misleading conclusion.

I followed the sound through the hallway and down the stairway. I hesitated when the sound grew louder. It was the tunnel that led to the greenhouse in the back garden.

I didn't want to follow anymore, but my feet seemed to walk on their own. The sound grew louder. And again. And finally stopped...I found myself standing in front of the flower pot I had presented to Eirlyn.

"I remember Eirlyn's parents were against her going to the academy...Sigh* It's annoying to see so many restrictions on her but why should I bother with them. It's none of my business." I thought crossing my arms.

"She is here my queen." I heard the shrill voice speak once again.

"So that Light queen visited her before me huh?"

This time I was a bit scared. I was no more than a child who wasn't even ten.

"I-is anyone there ~?" I mustered up the courage to ask about their identity.

"S-say something or I will call the guards upon you." I raised my voice half irritatingly.

"Oh my.Looks like the poor child is aghast by our appearance."

I was shocked to see a miracle before my eyes.

A woman with pitch-black hair that ended light purple appeared. She had porcelain, white skin, and wore a black masquerade mask shaped like a black butterfly.

However, the most distinctive feature in her appearance was her pointy ears and black mystical wings.

She had a mature look wearing dark lipstick and perhaps even smoky eyes like women I used to see in Korean dramas.

She had an intimidating appearance.

"Who are you?" I inquired unfazed.

Instead of replying she smiled.

"As expected, from the empire's founding member. They do produce some bold heirs." She snickered.

"It makes me proud of my people."

"Hey! I am asking you something. How dare you ignore me?" I gave her a scornful gaze.

"I like your attitude. Then I shall bestow my blessing upon you." She came forward lifting her forefinger that pointed at the center of my forehead.

"You will be justified in every dire situation. Being the queen of dark elves I shall personally, look upon your fate."

With these lines, she disappeared in the thin air.

"G-Ghost!" I panicked.

"Calm down Luna! Calm down!" I took deep breaths.

"Huh? What's happening to me?" My head started to hurt. The throbbing grew intense.

At that moment I felt dizzy and slowly lost my consciousness.

-----------

The next morning...

"Mmm~" I woke up finding myself on the bed once again.

"Lady Luna, please wake up its already time for breakfast."I heard Abigail waking me up.

" Good morning Luna."Eirlyn greeted me running over from the mirror.

"Wasn't I in the greenhouse?" I mumbled and yawned.

"Greenhouse? You were here the whole night with us." Eirlyn looked at me and then at Abigail.

"You must've seen some kind of a dream."

I lazily crawled out of the bed. It was cold I stretched and was escorted by the servants to the warm bath.

Although it's weird to have a bath in someone else's home I had no choice.

The dresses were pre-ordered for both of us.

"Consider it a small present from me." Eirlyn beamed.

"Let's go to have some breakfast." We headed into the hallway and bumped into the useless scraps once again.

Eirlyn who bumped into Lucien suddenly hid behind me like a fearful kitten.

I remember the prank they played on her last birthday left her terrified to death.

I scornfully looked at them.

"Are you here to pull an early morning prank?" I glared at Lucien and the rest of them.

"Good morning my baby sister." Lucien greeted me with a bright smile.

"Don't ignore me!!"

"Sigh*We aren't," he replied looking at poor Eirlyn.

"Rest assured lady Eirlyn. I truthfully apologize for being involved in this idiot's plan." Lucien apologetically bowed in guilt.

"Hey! Are you planning to abandon me you, traitor?" Alexander looked at Lucien and then at Eirlyn.

"I...apologize for committing such a prank." he looked away.

"What took you so long to apologize for?" I scorned him.

"Let go of it now Luna." Lucien placed his hand on my shoulder.

"If we are late who knows what our mothers will do to us."

As soon as we proceeded towards the dining hall downstairs I felt a disturbing chill from behind.

I peeked behind me and to find out that he would not take his eyes off me.

-"Rowan Aiden. What does he want from me?"
