13 CHAPTER #13:Baudelaires...

The weather was rough so we could not leave by carriage. Thus the Beauregards prepared rooms for the few guests who couldn't leave early or traveled here by train.

"And one of those was the BAUDELAIRES!!"To my dismay that brat Alexander also stayed overnight.

Alex's older brothers asked the viscountess about the library. Therefore, Mrs. Blanchard's older sons and those of the Baudelaire's headed for the library together. That left us with leftover scraps(Lucien and boys around his age).

As usual, I never understood boys. I sighed tiredly at looking at their weird actions.

" What are they even doing?"

"LADY LUNA~!" Someone clung to my arm.

"Lady Baudelaire?" I looked at the young child.

"Please call me Abigail." She passed a big smile.

"Then lady Abigail it is."

We headed to where Eirlyn sat reading the book, Lucien had gifted her.

I could feel the excitement increasing in her eyes after every passing minute.

"What are you reading Lady Eirlyn?" Abigail chimed in sitting near her.

"It's the latest series that came out."

"The Fairy and the Count?" She interrupted.

"Y-yes it's the one. But how did you know about it?" Eirlyn inquired.

"It was released two days ago."

"Older brother Zander brought it for me yesterday. I have read the first four chapters. It's amazing!", She squealed in excitement.

" Then I will have to read it more than Lady Abigail."Eirlyn laughed.

"Why are you two competing over nothing."

"Because these books are rare to find." She replied earnestly.

"The plot ahh~. It's just breathtaking and sad to see the male lead and the female lead overcome such hurdles together."

"You are right lady Abigail. It is heartbreaking."Eirlyn agreed wiping off her teary eyes.

-" Why are you being emotional over some fiction?" I looked at them hopelessly.

"Lady Luna you must read it as well!"

"But I have yet to buy it."

"I bought one copy for you too."

I turned back and saw the leftover scraps, I mean by Lucien and his friends behind us.

"Brother Lucien. You are back?"

"Yes. We just went into the garden."

"And you probably were scolded by the Duchess for going out in cold weather without a warning." I giggled.

"Shut up. We were quite bored inside Al and Corn's older brothers went together to the library to read books. We had no other choice."

-"You were uninvited since you three are way too mischievous."I sighed.

"What should I do with you?"

"By the where's mother?"

"All of them are sitting near the fireplace next door."

"Children time for bed." Aunt Althaia entered the playroom.

"Isn't it a bit too soon Aunt?" Alexander opposed.

"What are you saying, Alexander De Baudelaire?"

"Ack!Mother?"

I saw the duchess entering along with mother and Marchioness Aiden.

"Come on now!"

"But mother-" Alexander began protesting.

"It's alright Lady Florentia. Let's give them one room. The older boys have been given the other room and the girls can sleep in Eirlyn's room with her. I have already asked the servants to make arrangements."Althaia smiled.

" I want a mother like Eirlyn's."Alexander pouted.

"I heard that." She glared at him.

"You idiot."

He got hit on the head by Zander who was the oldest son. He turned seventeen this year or so I heard. He was the next heir to the Baudelaire Duchy. He was the next appointed prime minister candidate who excelled in politics. And he was the most reliable member among their children.

"Mother I will take care of them. You go and take some rest. You will have an impact on your health."

"Thank you, dear." She smiled tiredly and left the room escorted by the servants.

Watching the entire scene made me wonder why Alexander was such a spoilt brat. There could be two possibilities, either he is a kid whose parents cherished him more than other siblings since he is the master of the only sword in their family.

Or...he may be facing something from a very young age seeking protection and attention from his parents. My heart suddenly ached when I recalled something familiar from the dark past. I staggered losing my composure.

"Luna are you alright?" Eirlyn and Lucien grabbed me preventing me from falling to the ground.

"I'm alright. I feel a bit dizzy since it's quite late. I need some sleep now."

Eirlyn and Lucien escorted me to Eirlyn's room. Although Abigail offered help Lucien refused to back away from me.

Thus she trotted along with the rest of us.

"We will be fine Lord Lucien. The servant will bring in some warm milk. Luna will be fine." She reassured him.

"Sure thanks for taking care of her...my lady." He bowed and kissed lightly on her hand wishing us a good night.

The bed was spacious enough for the three of us to sleep comfortably.

"Isn't lord Lucien caring?" She sighed.

"What's with you? You're creeping me out." I backed away.

"You have older brothers too Abigail, don't you?" Eirlyn asked tilting her head confused.

"True~I do. They are way too annoying and overprotective of me. They are always grumpy and start a fight with each other beating each other mercilessly. But when it comes to me...they are surprisingly calm and soft." She closed her eyes and smiled.

"They have a soft spot just for you," I opened my eyes and looked at the ceiling.

She looked at me as if I spoke a foreign language.

"You are lucky to have siblings at least." Eirlyn pouted.

"I am alone. At least I wished to have an older brother like you or at least a cute little sister. That way...at least I would have someone to lean on or confide in."

"But you can do that when you are engaged or married later on," Abigail said.

"It's fun to get married right?"

I looked at her rethinking the words my ears made me hear.

"Just like in the novels. Isn't it amazing to have a life story like that?" She sighed.

-"Either she is a romanticist or she is lovesick."I thought half disgusted.

I did not want to participate in this topic. Nevertheless, I could feel the twinkling eyes killing me with their curiosity.

-"It's here~" I screamed my mind out.

"Lady Luna do you have someone you like?"
