1 Final Method

Somewhere on earth, inside a spacious room filled with High-Tech medical equipment, an old man opened his eyes with extreme difficulty, his eyelids trembling, revealing a pair of musky pupils.

The old man aimlessly stared at the white ceiling in a daze, deep in thought.

' Sigh, I can't even remember how long I've been in this room... a day? A week?'

' How naive of me. Have I really thought with enough wealth, I can finally lay my hands on eternal life... Sigh... Is this really how I die after building my whole business empire of pharmacy that spanned across the whole world?.'

' My memories are so vague that I'm barely still holding on to my children's names.. was one of them kitty? Or Lilly?.. Sigh... too hard to recall a lot of details clearly, even if they happened a few days ago.'

' At least I can remember the reason for building this medical room... If I remember... if I remember right, I built it after realizing that my death was inevitable; I used billions of dollars to build this high-tech room to support me for a few more years; I have even researched every legend, myth, and ancient rumors about eternal life, hoping to find a way to escape death.'

' Have I failed? Are humans really limited to this century of lifespan only? Really unfortunate ...I guess this is it then...'

Cling!

As he was deeply in thought about death and what was beyond it after coming to realize that he won't be escaping it, he heard several footsteps closing in on his room with rapid speed, quickly opening the door to his room and entering it.

" Grandpa, grandpa, I found it; I have finally been useful for even once in my life and found one final method we can test; we need to go as fast as possible."

' Hm? Isn't this Lilly? Or was it Kitty? Eh, I don't care anymore, but what did she find? Is it another fake legend and myth of eternal life... Sigh... it's pointless little girl; humans aren't supposed to live longer than a century or so.'

However, even though he thought that way, his fear of death and feelings of never giving up and surrender kicked in, barely raising his voice to ask his granddaughter to take him there, still having that last bit shred of hope that a way really exists and money can somehow change his current crisis.

" Take me there."

His granddaughter didn't even wait for his answer as she was already ordering the guards around her to carefully and slowly place her grandpa in a wheelchair and get him into the helicopter waiting on top of their mansion.

Dean was the richest man currently in the world, and even if there was someone richer, it didn't matter since he could literally buy anything and do whatever he wanted in the world.

Unfortunately, after he got old, he realized that no matter how much wealth, status, and authority you have, none of it will matter after you grow old and witness your body slowly crumbling before you perish.

Subsequently, he used all of his connections and a lot of money to research every possible way to eternal life, which gave birth to this room that allowed him to stay sane even though he was closing in on his death.

His children and grandchildren didn't laze around also, doing their best to research everything in the world as a way to obtain eternal life.

In the past decade, they have tried tens of methods to increase one's lifespan and get eternal life.

From herbs that he has to consume, to meditation, to even eating pearls of unknown origin that were rumored to increase someone's lifespan.

Yet, it was all to no avail as none of the methods he tried worked since he clearly felt his lifespan was running out, and he was soon about to die.

Thankfully, before he gave up, his grandaughter found another method that may prolong his life.

After several hours of flying across the ocean, the party of five finally reached the peak of a mountain that was a few kilometers tall.

" Grandpa, don't worry; this method will surely work, I have even visited this place to make sure of it, and from what I have seen, it is the most promising one so far."

Kitty kept talking, giving her grandpa hope while the guards followed her footsteps, carrying the wheelchair on their backs.

Her eyes were watery all the way to their destination, barely holding herself from crying, afraid that she would make her grandpa worry about her and worsen his condition.

Her reason for crying was simple.

It is her deep love for her grandpa and the fact that if this final method didn't work, she would never be able to see her grandpa again, losing the person who loved her and took care of her his whole life on a whim.

But she strengthened her back and wiped the tears that were about to fall from her eyes, and kept moving forward.

The peak of the mountain was flat, spanning hundreds of meters from each side.

After walking for about thirty minutes, the five people finally caught wind of their destination.

It was a pitch-black door placed in the middle of the mountain peak.

The door had zero fancy decorations except for a red pearl in the middle.

' Hm, is that the method? Another legend about a door that could take you to heaven?... Guess I'm meant to fail.'

Dean didn't have high hopes about this last method, but he still didn't show anything on his face since he didn't want his granddaughter to be sad.

As they got closer, they realized that the door in front of them wasn't actually an ordinary door like the ones they were used to, but instead, a majestic black door that towered over tens of meters in height and a dozen or so meters from each side.

' Maybe... maybe there is hope?' Dean Kani thought.

Only before he could even look at his granddaughter and ask how did she find such a door before anyone else since it was literally so big that planes who moved on top of this mountain couldn't miss, an eerie voice that of an old man entered the party of five people ears, startling everyone and forcing them to look at the direction from which the voice came from.

" What do you think you are doing by standing in front of the Immortal door like you own the place."
