10 Senior Judgement

Amir, though not in the most welcoming of moods, was able to successfully able to make it through the week, and was now walking with Rei to their meeting.

Rei, obviously shaken, was looking around the foreign halls in detached amazement. Much like their counterparts, their ceilings were high, and their length wide. However, there was a different air about this section, that the others don't seem to have.

Perhaps it had picked up on the prestige that it's gatherers held, as simply walking down the quiet hall made the hairs of both Rei and Amir stand on end.

The silence was uncommon between the pair as Rei is rarely quiet. So the lack of discussion only furthered the tension.

There was no current argument, a cause of confusion if any were to join them. However, the foreign land that the two are walking into did turn the pair into figures tense enough to become wooden mannequins.

They stopped as they reached their destination. The given instructions leading them towards the door at the end of the hall.

It was particularly large and imposing, with it being a delightfully engrafted wooden peace, ending only mere centimetres from the roof.

After a knock to announce their presence, Amir took lead and pushed. Finding much resistance in the heavy doors, but unwilling to show such a weakness.

The doors opened without further resistance, the light coming from a back window imposing itself upon the two with dramatic flare.

The window was accentuated by rich, heavy curtains, and a long table, showing off the seat length of the room. On either side was a perfectly symmetrical line of five chairs per side. Each crafter with great intricacy and care, making sure that everything matched to the tiny knobs of flowers across the handling. Showing great value in the worth of the polished pieces.

Across both, the left and right walls were bookshelves filled to the brim with large texts. A mix of both records, rules and laws.

Two similar such books sat stacked up in the middle of the long table. One labelling as the kingdoms standard laws concerning schools, and the other as the record book for this year.

Little was left to be desired in such a perfectly studious room, as it was met with great care.

"Good afternoon. As of today the both of you would be part of the Liber Academy representative community, known by some as their student council. Since you are new it has been requested that I educated you in further detail upon the nature of this position. I am Taylor Ronnald. A third year of the knight's division. It is the fifth years that generally lead us, however, everyone is open to input. They will all be here for our session next week, but for now, I will get onto the task at hand."

Mr Ronnald paid no heed to the newly created world jumble. Leaving no proper time for the two to settle down, before rolling out a large chalkboard from the side, and getting to work on his explanation.

His aloof manner may have diminished the conversations of others, however, Amir was of a much higher quality.

"Are you always so brash with your words?"

"I do not see how that is of any correlation to you." There was definite pettiness to Mr Ronnald that reminded Amir of his conversation with the principal. It was not an attractive thought process, and he rushed to rid himself of it.

"If there are disputes between members the students will notice the weakness and this 'group' will be left in disarray. Due to a simple disagreement."

"I worked hard for my position, what did you do?"

Amir also decided thoughtfully, through the continued nonsense that Mr Ronnald as currently spouting and the surprisingly watchful silence of Rei that he would now strive to call him Taylor, if only in his head. As the amount of time, it takes to announce his last name was too much effort to put into an idiotic man like the person before him.

"A king must always work hard for his subjects."

"But you are not king, and I don't wish to be your subject." Rei's full attention sat on the first prince as he sat straight and refused to yield an inch to a person many years his senior. Rei was reluctant to admit his ignorance, but it seems that their first prince had more admirable qualities than he first realised.

Though that may just be a knight's preference. 'A strong ruler makes a strong kingdom,' as the saying goes.

"You believe that my life is easy growing up? That I sat in my bed all day and ignored the outside world?"

"Why wouldn't it be true." The scoff was enough to show that they wouldn't be changing in their beliefs anytime soon.

"If that were so, then the king and queen would be damning their country to ruin. Do you doubt your rulers so?"

No amount of praise could save Taylor from his present situation, so he denied himself to think of such pleasantries. He refused to give in to such a prideful and selfish child.

"Parents often find themselves blind to their children's misbehaviours."

"Yes, that is, unfortunately, a rather common occurrence." There was no doubt at the dismissal that Amir put forth, and the continued ignorance of his tormentors reddening face left him with little satisfaction. So, instead, he turned towards the only other sensible person in the room.

"What?!" Amir only had to stare into the blue eyes of Rei for a solid minute before the red-head finally gave up and lost his patience. Taylor currently in the corner trying to resolve his breathing, refusing to face punishment for killing the prince in an anger-filled rage.

"Tell Mr Ronnald that he still hasn't properly explained our jobs yet."

"Just tell him yourself!"

Amir was unrelenting in his stare, and no amount of frustration Rei showed seemed to be stopping it. Much to the latter's continued annoyance.
