Falling

Simon was falling, and fast, maybe his somewhat quick witted idea was not the best. It wasn't.

Despite his ever looming death, he did not waver in the slightest, some one that was thinking had no time to emote. He aimed himself at the hedges just below. He hoped he did not tear his uniform to badly.

Then right before he hit the perfectly trimmed hedges, he stopped mid air. Simon sighed, thank god he wasn't dead.

'Wait why am I not dead?!'

He drifted toward the green grass and slowly descended to the comically soft ground. How did he do that?

"Are you alright?"

Simon looked up, this time it was a male, something he wasn't so afraid of.

"Oh sorry to startle you, I had some altercations a moment ago."

"No kidding."

The boy was some how scarily average. Everything about him screamed mediocrity. He had normal cut black hair and regular brown eyes. His voice was soft, equivalent to what Simon landed on.

The boy put a hand out and Simon gladly took it. "Sorry for everything, also may I ask how you saved me?"

The boy smiled an average grin, "My Charm allows me to soften anything I desire."

Simon nodded, he was purely saved by luck.

"That is a wonderful Charm. Any how, what is your name?"

The boy rubbed the back of his neck, very cliché like, "My name is Aaron Todd, I'm a second year."

Simon slightly nodded this time, nothing on his face changing, "My name is Simon, it is a pleasure to meet an upperclassman."

Aaron stopped grinning, "We should go to the nurse's office just in case, I don't know if I made it in time."

Simon would of declined in any other circumstances but returning to class was not the greatest idea. Instead, he nodded and the two started toward one of the walkways leading to another set of buildings.

"So you are a first year correct?"

Simon kept his pace along with Aaron, "Yes."

"So why come to Green Garden, you know this school is filled with rich kids who are all pricks."

Simon glared at him, "You may be right but it's bad to speak ill of your classmates."

Aaron looked at their set of feet hitting the cement, "I Just don't really see them as class mates, just votes."

A very unnatural look took Aaron's very generic face, shadows cast ominously across him. "All I need them to do is succumb to me and my wish will come true."

Simon watched as Villain Flags sprouted from Aaron's scalp. Gasp. Aaron waved what he said off, "Sorry, just the election is very tough."

'Election?'

Simon stopped in his tracks, "You are the third candidate aren't you. I knew I felt something when you said your name!"

Indeed, it was foul play. Aaron Todd was actually...

Todd Aaron, the third candidate running for President. Somehow the idea slipped Simon's mind, the Aaron he thought was friendly had a different side.

"Haha, seems you catch on very fast. I wanted some information out of you, but it seems my quick cover up was faulty however."

Todd smiled a devilish grin, " No matter, I plan on winning even without dirty tricks. I may as well reintroduce myself..."

Todd bowed and spoke, "My name is Todd Aaron, most people call me To. I plan on dethroning Queen Petra this time around."

'Queen Petra?' Simon swore to remember the name.

"You are halved aren't you, I can tell by the way your eyes seem so dead but your words are full of pride and thought."

"We are the same, just remember what side is truly you."

Simon was frozen by his words. It seemed the two candidates he was going against were no push overs. They seem to have reputation, and have both donned a persona that will help them make the sacrifices they needed to make.

'Touché.'

"Hey what is a first year doing outside of the girl's locker room?"

"Hey, he is kind of cute."

"Wait was he peeping?"

"You mean like watching us practice?!"

Simon swirled around to be met by girls pointing at him and questionable sentences piercing him.

"I was just with..."

Todd was gone, his presence felt as if it never existed. Simon quickly walked away, ignoring the words flinging about. 'Why did I never hear the bells, do they not work?!' Simon cursed underneath his breath. A memory fled back to him.

"My Charm allows be to soften anything I desire."

'Even sound.' Simon concluded as he headed back the way he came.

----

"So in a matter of seconds you met both of your rivals, and somehow you stand alive before me?"

Norman was still unsure of how Simon was even still emotionless. His dead fish eyes showing nothing, "I told you how it is, Todd is a sadist and wait. Who is the girl running?"

Norman smiled, his greatest gift, answering questions.

"After doing some research her name is Petra Magic. She was the runner up for President last year, only losing by a single vote. That single vote was Todd Aaron."

"How would anyone know he was the decisive vote?" Simon countered.

Norman held up a smartphone, "He posted on his Instagram."

"oh" was all Simon could muster.

Simon soaked up some information, "I can imagine they have bad blood, no wonder nothing between the candidates has happened so far."

Norman shook his finger in front of Simon again, "Correct, it is like a game. You are avoiding Petra while Todd is avoiding her also, meaning that you will eventually encounter one of them. If Petra was avoiding Todd it would be much easier but... It seems she has that name for a reason."

Simon closed his locker, glancing at Norman who casually leaned against his. The lockers were actually walk in lockers, something that Simon did not know even existed. It was like a mini room.

"Queen Petra, I heard it from Todd, some name if you ask me."

Norman continued, "It was do to how ruthless and aggressive she was last year in trying to secure any votes. Apparently a lot of people liked how she fixed problems."

"You make it sound like she was the one who won but she didn't, who exactly beat someone like that?"

Then as if the gods of fate wanted it to be so, a white letter fell out of Simon's pocket. He raised an eyebrow, knowing damn well he did not put it there. Norman watched as Simon bent down and picked it up. On the front of the note were letters written in cursive.

Norman swallowed hard, an uneasy feeling coming over him. Simon did not flicker and stuffed the paper in his back pocket.

"It would seem I have someone who is interested in me."

Norman grabbed Simon by the shoulder, "Be careful, it could be Todd or Petra."

"And, you and I have both said it, it's best to meet candidates one on one. If it is one, this is exactly what we wanted."

"Tch, just don't go jumping out of windows"

Simon smiled, the first emotion he showed all day. Norman retracted his hand as his childhood friend walked away. Soon things would change, that much was obvious.
