9 OH YOU’RE HERE!

***

“Oh, you’re here!” Andrew saw Krist on the table alone.

Krist smiled back and simply nodded – a response of his towards to Austin’s friend. Krist was timid and he never knew how to keep the conversation going. He was drinking when Andrew mentioned that he was surprised when he saw him on that kind of place. He guessed that someone like him was not really belong to a place like that. However, on the other side of the hill, he was pleased seeing him on a bar and making himself free from stress after the exam. He noticed that he was drinking, a light drink and Krist uttered that he was not used to drink beer that’s why her friend Mitch ordered her that kind of drink.

“Yeah, I was about to ask that. Who’s with you?” He asked.

“Huh?” He barely heard him because of the loud, continuous noise, reason why Andrew stepped closer to him and shouted the same question. When Krist heard the question clearly, he immediately enumerated the friends he was with.

“Oh Vanessa is here too?”

“Yes, she just went to the wash room.”

Then, after telling that, he pointed his finger towards her friend, Mitch who was talking to Rick on their table at that time. Andrew looked back on their table and he was surprised when he had a drinking session and conversation with Mitch. Then, Andrew asked Krist to taste a different drink – that one he was holding.

“So, how was your exam?” Rick simply asked.

“It’s done! It’s finished! No need to talk about that!” Mitch boldly and loudly replied.

Mitch decided to bury everything after their examination. That moment was supposed to be a celebration not a commemoration which you had to go back and check if you did well on your examination. She believed she did her best and that was enough for her. She never competed to anyone else and had no dreams to graduate with flying colors, reason why here grades were good enough for her.

Since the topic about academic was out of the equation, Mitch was urged to ask question related to him, something about him or maybe something about love. After taking a shot, she stared at him seriously. Rick was drinking when he found out that Mitch was staring at him.

“So, what’s with that look?” He asked.

“I believe we haven’t introduced ourselves properly. I am Mitch!”

The boy was a little bit surprised of what he heard, he was thinking of two things: it’s either Mitch was already drunk or he found her cute doing that kind of stuff. Mitch was ready to shake his hand but the boy was smiling until he offered his hand for the hand-shaking.

“I am Rick. Nice to meet you Mitch.”

“I am so pleased to meet you.”

The both laughed after that moment. Rick asked him of what she just did. Mitch then, explained that he wanted to just really introduce herself to him. The two were enjoying both companies, laughing so hard, getting to know each other and the feeling of extravagant joy was also present. They stared to each other as if the whole world stopped and everyone was not even moving. The two felt an unexpected excitement on their hearts. Rick was mesmerized with the beauty of Mitch while Mitch was swallowing her own saliva as if she were thirsty. When Rick was about to kiss her, Mitch refused and went on to elaborate one thing.

“You have a girlfriend, right?” she asked.

“Ahh, yes I do.”

“Excuse me, I just have to go to the wash room.”

“Hey, wait!” Austin implied.

“Austin what?” Vanessa asked.

“I like you.”

When Vanessa heard that lines who she was very familiar with because she heard that many times from the movies and series she had watched. Not to mention that line was Austin’s favorite line. She stopped from walking and she knew that Austin was behind her waiting for her answer. Vanessa brought herself back on the same scenario when she had her first encounter with this man. It was also a place near the washroom, she stopped walking because Austin was asking him and that moment was the same moment she was into.

She heard that Austin was walking. She wasn’t able to move again and she didn’t even know how to respond. She knew Austin so much because he was chasing him for a year but that moment, everything felt nothing – she couldn’t remember anything from the past. When she opened her eyes, she found him in front of her, smiling. Her hatred towards him screamed inside of her and shouting towards the guy, asking herself to say something. It was really hard for her. Austin held her shoulders and pushed her slightly towards the wall. Then, he reiterated the last words he said.

“I like you.”

“No, you don’t like me. I am not like your girls Austin. I don’t want the game you wanted to play.

Vanessa was walking away yet Austin managed to grab her hand and when she turned around, Austin passionately kissed Vanessa. Then, Mitch saw them.

“Vanessa?” She badly whispered.

When they were kissing, Vanessa heard the whisper of her friends, she felt like that whisper was louder than the sound of the music which penetrates her soul and eardrum. She stopped kissing Austin, she looked at her and she was totally shocked when she saw Mitch. Mitch walked away. Austin tasted a slap from Vanessa. Vanessa followed Mitch. Rick followed Mitch on the wash room but had no idea what happened that’s why he followed Mitch and Vanessa.

“Mitch! Wait! Let me explain!”

“Not now! Please Vanessa. Leave me alone!”

Rick heard everything and he asked Vanessa what was going on. Tears from her eyes suddenly flow and she kept silent. Rick hurriedly followed Mitch and he swiftly hugged her when he reached the girl. The girl was crying so hard as if her heart wanted to come out from her chest. Rick comforted her until she was able to express everything.

“I saw them.”

“You saw who?”

“I saw Austin and Vanessa. They were kissing.”

Rick wiped her tears. He mentioned that he never wanted to see girl crying especially any girl which was close to him. He managed to make her feel fine. He was gently touching her face and suddenly, without any cues, he kissed the girl passionately.

Meanwhile, Vanessa went back to their table and took her bag.

“Oh, there she is.” Andrew mentioned.

After getting her bag with great disgust on her face, she also took Krist out of the bar. Krist was still enjoying the night which was the total opposite of Vanessa’s experience. She was not talking when Krist was asking her about what happened to her and soon asking where Mitch was.

“Are we going without Mitch?”
