Chapter 55

Izna's POV

"Your majesty another one arrived." Horus shows me an arrow. Yusef has been trying to kill me since our last meeting. This is the 23th arrow this evening.

"Look Horus, it looks pretty. The Craftsman really worked hard making this." I laugh.

"Your majesty we should start displaying the arrows. They'll make amazing decoration pieces."

"Absolutely!! I was thinking the same."

"And here's a letter. It was wrapped around."

"Oh my!!! The assassin seems quite romantic. Let me write a return letter and ask for flowers next time."

"Your majesty you should ask for some jewels too. 20 pieces of jewels per day. We can built our own empire in a year or two."

"Hahahaha!!!! You're funny Horus!!"

"YOUR MAJESTY!!!!! Please..." The handmaid screams so loud, i almost jump out of my bed.

"Calm down Anippe! You're too loud. Even the gods will hear you from heaven."

"Please....I beg of you... please....come with me. My master is dying."

"What happened????"

"I cannot speak of that. Pharaoh's order. Please come with me. No one is ready to help us. She will die."

"Horus!! Let's go."

At Umena's palace....

"I'm asking for the last time what happened here? Who did this to her?"

They keep silent. I'm guessing it was Nephthys. But part of me doesn't want to believe that he is capable of doing something like this. I always thought that he is kind hearted.

"Anippe!!"

"Y...yes."

"Why didn't you inform me first?"

"Your majesty, I couldn't get into your palace. So I went to get a physician instead. But no physician was ready to come."

"Go get the royal physician."

"Your majesty, I already asked him. He said he can't come without a royal order."

"Forget it. It'll take forever to go back and convince Nephthys. Horus, Can you treat her?"

"I've only treated soldiers before. I have no idea how should I treat a delicate person."

"We don't have any other choice. Treat her."

"As you wish."

We walk inside Umena's chamber. My heart stops for a few moments, I can't hear, I can't think. Suddenly the floor starts shaking and I can't keep standing anymore.

"Your majesty!!" Horus catches me on time.

"How could he....." I whisper to myself.

Looking at Umena's condition, I can say how much Nephthys hates her. She has broken spine , broken jaw. Her fingers are squashed. Half of her hair is plucked out. Her face and body was burnt. It's a miracle that she survived after taking all that torture.

"Tell me you can save her, Horus." I can't hold my tears anymore.

"I will try my best." He sighs.

"Please take care of her. I'll be back."

"Your majesty, please don't....."

"I'm not going to fight Nephthys. I'm going to somewhere else."

"Alright. Please be safe. I guess you don't want me to go with you. So please take my axe." He hands over his axe.

"I'll be back soon. Wait for me." I hold Umena's hand before heading out.
