6 A Second's Hesitation Can Lead To Unwanted Events

Bo Chin would've laughed if her mind wasn't still in shock. Unlike Chen, who as she assumed could only be laughing out of pure malicious intent, she would've chuckled out of discomfort though. In her years of travelling about, she learned that this method was very helpful in order to escape situations she didn't like to be stuck in. Just put up a smile, go along with the other for a while and then escape when they aren't being careful. Now if you'd ask her how many times that tactic has worked until now, then she'd reluctantly have to answer that it only worked once, because as much as she couldn't understand why, there weren't a lot of people eager to keep her company. But the one time someone didn't want her to leave - he kept going on about paying some loans - this tactic worked out splendidly, so she was convinced it would work again any given time. But as she was caught in her current situation, mind in shock as her heart was still working on pumping some blood back into her brain, she couldn't muster up enough reason to react quick enough. So she was caught up in his pace and was dragged into a nearby housing. The following events happened so fast that Bo Chin could barely utter more than a few sounds of confusion. The reason she didn't escape despite being practically dragged through half of the city was the fact that she didn't sense any malicious intent coming from Chen - they did share a meal before and no matter how short, eating together is well known to be a harmonious action - as well as the fact that Chen held onto her pretty tightly. His grasp combined with her exhaustion didn't put her into an advantageous position. As they finally reached a house at the edge of the city with a view of the luscious trees forming a forest nearby, Chen let go of her wrist and opened the door ushering her in shortly after.

The house, although old, seemed very well kept with wooden furniture. This she could see, despite the inside of the small house not seeming to have any sort of lighting. With a few stray rays of sunlight shining through the window, she could see that the interior was all around very simple. Nevertheless it still somehow gave off a sense of extravagance; it seemed unexpectedly uncozy, but not in a bad way. Even though Bo Chin has seen more mysterious houses or special type of furnishing than the average person at her age, she still found this place to be extraordinary. Chen followed closely behind her, seeing that she was occupied with observing the inside of his abode, he didn't want to disturb her and simply let her be and disappeared into another room. He came out soon after though, carrying a long, but simple white candle and lighting it up with the fire stone Bo Chin gave him at their first encounter. He was well aware of his impulsiveness at the moment. He'd been thought to be suspicious of people surrounding him and also that dragging people around - even when familiar with them - was an incredibly rude action. But at that moment, with his blood pumping through his veins in an unusually high rate and his desperation coming from having travelled quite the distance all the while alone with no one to talk to, lead him to act against his better judgement. As the candle was finally lit, Bo Chin came to herself again and for the first time in the while she was dragged around formed a string of coherent words. "What the hell?" Hearing her voice, Chen raised his head from the candle and to her face, only to be confronted with her slightly disgruntled face. He was almost relieved at the sight of her countenance as he expected her to react much more hostile than she seemed to be. "Well, I beg your pardon for my rude behaviour. But I think you can understand- I wasn't in a position to behave very reasonably. And Uh- and I don't think only I am to blame for this. Uhm- I mean you did run away with my sword in hand." As he uttered the last two phrases, Chen started to avoid eye contact with the youngster before him, scratching the back of his hand. Although this action seemed a bit timid, his ramrod back as well as his actions from before, told her to think of him otherwise. "Well, you're not wrong." Bo Chin, although still suspicious of Chen, was admittedly quite embarrassed about her prior actions and against her best wishes, she wasn't shameless enough to dismiss what she had done. After her statement followed a long silence with both of them somewhat lost in their respective thoughts, either too exhausted or too uncomfortable to be holding a proper conversation. So as Chen was regretting his impulsiveness, that lead to a strange mix of wanted and unwanted events, Bo Chin regretted not reacting quick enough when she was dragged away. Truly, a second's hesitation can lead to unwanted events.
