1 HERE GOES

Alana watched as her father's car zoomed away immediately she alighted with her luggage. A sigh escaped her lips. It was as if he was forced to bring her there. She couldn't help wondering why he hadn't gotten her in a bus or a taxi to ship her away. It was as if he was making sure she was here by himself.

Letting the negative thoughts slip away, she inhaled and walked to the huge building in front of her. Her eyes widened with fascination noticing how gorgeous, beautiful and mighty it was, not to mention the other buildings she caught in the corner of her eyes. Culture University really lived up to its name, well that was until she had been told that the presence of other's creatures that weren't human existed.

Turning her head from right to left, she tried to spot anyone looking suspicious and she almost shivered noticing that nobody looked different. This was harder than she thought. Fighting the urge to turn and run away, she pulled her suitcase to the reception where a woman in bold make-up, got her room keys and schedule.

The only consolation was that the school didn't allow her to leave the premises until the weekends and their holidays were short, well if she would make it that far, alive and kicking. An open and wide view came to sight when she stepped out of the main building and her mouth involuntary flew open. Before she could even realize that she was standing in the middle of the compound mutely and dumbly, an elder woman approached her.

"Hello, I am Mary, I am a worker here and I can tell that you're new, may I help you with something?"

Alana gave the kind woman a smile. "I am looking for my hostel," she gave the woman the keys she had been handed to that held a white tag. The woman received and led her.

"This place is called Crystal hostel," she smiled more and Alana returned the smile before getting into her room and shutting the door behind her carefully.

Standing by the closed door, she studied the one room in front of her. The bed was normal in white covers next to a large window which was open and before the bed a brown rug, at the foot of the bed a simple wooden closet stood and beside the closet a table and a chair was placed, a tiny reading lamp was on the table.

She pulled her suitcase and transferred her belongings to the closet, knowing well that if she didn't do it straight away, she would never do it again. After she was done she fell on her bed with a thud to read the rules on the sheet she was given.

Sitting on her bed, she couldn't help wondering how life was going to be from then on. Visiting home was next to impossible because the school was in a different state, no, correction, the school was in its own planet, far away from civilization.

How could she forget the kilometers of trees that they passed from the first gate that indicated that they were in the school's property? Two more gates before they finally reached the school and how could she forget the trees and vegetation that covered miles, giving the place a serene natural look as if no man had ever lived there?

From the fierce looking guards at the gate she knew without doubt that trying to escape from the school's property before time allocated was impossible, she could almost shudder at the thought of being caught sneaking. Her hand stealthily reached for a longer sheet and she brought it close to her eyes.

Rule no 1. No connection with the outside world while in the school's compound.

Her brain froze and her body jerked up, what, just what was she seeing? She grabbed her phone lying on the bed and saw an X mark that indicated no network in the compound. How comes this was even possible? No, there must be an error.

Her eyes landed on the paper. Rule no 2.Lessons start at eight and end at three.

Wait what? Was this high school?

Rule no 3. Skipping lessons is a serious crime.

It was not like she was planning to skip any.

Rule no 4. Sharing of hostels is strictly prohibited and visitation hours end before curfew hour at eleven. That did not concern her, did it?

Rule no 5. Emergency calls were passed through the administration.

Yea, great!

Rule no 6. Meals were served in the lunchroom.

Rule no 7. University premises were to be left on Friday evening and returned on Sunday.

Rule no 8. Detention was served to law breakers.

Wait, what again? She blinked twice. Had she just signed a contract with hell?

Rule no 9. Health issues were to be reported to the school's infirmary immediately no matter how minor.

Rule no 10. The staff at Culture University should be accorded with high respect and obedience at all times.

Alana collapsed on her bed when she read the last statement of the absurd rules. This institution was insane! How could a place forbid people from using phones, in the twenty first century! Was this prison? How was she supposed to live? Why didn't she see that when she was applying. How could she be so blind?
