2 Awakening Ceremony(1)

When all the youths finished entering the Awakening Hall, the ceremony began, all the doors were closed, and no noises could be heard from the inside, peoples outside waited anxiously for their child and descendant to complete the awakening.

To most people, this was a chance to change their fate, Spiritual Roots weren't something inherited, thus there was no more chance to awaken a Spiritual Root even if your parents both possessed one, the only exception was if one of your parents possessed at least a Low-Rank Earth Spiritual Root, in this case, one would be sure to awaken at least a Mid Rank Yellow Spiritual Root due to the strong affinity of the owner of the Earth Spiritual Root, thus Liu Ming didn't fear that he wouldn't awaken a Spiritual Root, he only feared that he would only awake a Mid-Rank Yellow Spiritual Root.

As to why this was a chance to change one's fate, it was due to the nurturing that would be provided to Spiritual Roots owners compared to normal Clansmen, even a person with the trashiest Spiritual Root would receive at least 1000 golds each month, while a normal person could only earn this kind of money in years of hard work, thus commoners hoped that a descendant of theirs would have a Spiritual Root so that they could have a higher status amongst the clan.

While peoples waited anxiously outside the main hall, the ceremony began inside, all the youths were brought in another room, the Clan's Patriarch then went on the stage.

"Listen, all of you are potentially the one who will uphold the clan's status in the future, thus I hope you endure what comes next from the best of your ability, to tell you the truth, the awakening of a Spiritual Root is made possible only under the pressure of a cultivator, thus the longer you can withstand, the higher the rank of your Spiritual Root would be, thus I wish you all good luck." After he finished his speech, the Patriarch then emitted and strong pressure, some youths directly kneeled on the ground while some had difficulty breathing, these peoples had no more hope of awakening a Spiritual Root since they failed to withstand the lowest level of pressure.

While Liu Ming felt a little bit of pressure, it wasn't even enough to hinder his movements, thus he easily passed this place, beside him, only twenty-one peoples had successfully withstood this level, thus amongst the one hundred youths of the clan, only twenty-two had awakened their Spiritual Root in this generation, this number showed how rare Spiritual Roots were.

The Second Level directly began, this time ten peoples had difficulty to breathe, but then a barely visible light began to emit from their body, this light was white with some yellow spot scattered inside, it meant that those guys had only awakened Low-Rank Yellow Spiritual Roots.

After this, the people who finished their awakening were brought outside the room, and the pressure once more increased, this time, of the twelve peoples still in the room, two were awakened, their Spiritual Roots were thus Mid Rank Yellow Spiritual Roots.

As for Liu Ming he heaved a sigh of relief, the pressure of this level wasn't anything special for him to endure, thus he was able to wave it off pretty fast.

Once more the pressure increased, this time, three youths were awakened, their Spiritual Roots were Perfect Yellow Roots, thus they could be considered as average in terms of talents amongst the multiples Large Tribes in the Eastern Province.

Liu Ming also began to gain confidence since he didn't feel any pressure once more, there were only two other peoples in the same situation as him, one was a thin youth, his name was Liu Kai from the way he was clothed, he looked like a commoner, thus it was pretty impressive for him to go this far, and the other one was someone he knew well, she was the Youngest Daughter of the Patriarch, Liu Mei, she was also Liu Ming's cousin and he knew her since he was a kid.

For Liu Kai, Liu Ming didn't know anything about him, but as for Liu Mei he definitely knew a lot about her, she was heavily pampered by her multiples older sisters and brothers, she was also considered as very talented since she was able to read from a young age, and a strong cultivator once said that her talents would probably be equal if not higher than her father's.

As for her personality, Liu Ming didn't have any memories about it, it was probably due to the fact that Liu Mei didn't come to play often with him since his parents died in the past, thus he ha mostly forgotten his memories about her.

While the three of them didn't feel any pressure at the moment, the other four youths all had some signs of perspiration on their forehead, most probably none of those would be able to endure till the Perfect-Rank Black Spiritual Root awakening, the only exception would be if one of them had a strong enough mind to endure the pressure.

Of the other four, all of them were descendants of the Elders, in the Liu Clan there were only five Elders, the requirements to became one was based on one's self-cultivation, as for what were the differents realms after Body Tempering, Liu Ming had no idea since it was classified knowledge held by the clan.

After a short pause, the pressure once more increased, but this time it was by at least three times, it was due to the fact that the difference between Perfect-Rank Yellow Spiritual Roots and Low-Rank Black Spiritual Roots was very big, it was said that if two peoples possessed these roots and the same resources, the cultivation speed of the person with a Low-Rank Black Spiritual Roots would be at least three times faster.

This time, two of the seven remaining peoples awakened, the light emitted from their bodies was yellow with some slight traces of black amongst it, it was the Low-Rank Black Spiritual Root.

Liu Ming and the other two didn't feel much pressure once more, this was a sign of high talent because one had to know that in the Eastern Province, the strongest Spiritual Root ever awakened was a Low-Rank Heaven Spiritual Roots, the Clan which had this genius as a member was the Lei Clan, and he was also the current patriarch.

Compared to that, Low-Rank Black Spiritual Roots could seem like trash, but in reality, it was already above average in the whole Eastern Province.

If the three of them still didn't feel any difficulty at this moment, then they would at least awoke a Perfect-Rank Black Spiritual Root, and they even had a chance to awoke Low-Rank Earth Rank Spiritual Root!
