2 Lin and Yu Mei

A youth, no more than fourteen, with black hair, brown eyes, and wearing a cultivation robe ran through a forest. He was being chased by several other people.

"Come back you mongrel! You think you can escape from me?!!!" a voice echoed through the woods.

The young man continued to run as fast as he could; ignoring the branches and logs, and the deadly animals hidden by the cover of night.

He ran, as hard as he could, trying to save his life.

"You think you can slap my son around and spit in my face and there won't be consequences?" The voice laughed evilly.

"You were always going to die, but then you made it personal, and now I'm going to make it painful. After you tell me your secret."

A figure flashed suddenly in front of the youth.

"I want to know how your cultivation went from nothing to stronger than the top disciples!"

The man pushed his face into the face of the youth who came to a sudden stop and tried to reverse his running.

The man standing before the youth was around six foot and one inch. Wearing a purple robe with a slightly graying temple. He backhanded the youth who flew to the ground.

"I'll take your life, your memory, your secret, and your little girlfriend! I'll let my son have her for a while before I sell her to a brothel." The man laughed intensely.

The youth's face was one of utter despair. He thought he was so clever; he thought he could get away with his plotting, but he wasn't nearly as clever as he thought he was.

"Even if you know my secret, it won't help you or your piggish son!" The youth yelled.

"Curse you!" The man flew into a rage and stabbed the youth through the heart with his sword which he produced from his spacial ring.

"Oh, I forgot to get his treasure, Maybe it's hidden on his body somewhere." The man looked through the youth's body. He was surprised to find a spacial ring and was stunned by its contents.

No wonder this kid's cultivation skyrocketed! With all these heavenly medicines and treasures a pig could be given wings, and a house cat could become a lion!

Forget his son, with all these treasures he could become strong enough to replace the current leader of the sect.

It still didn't explain the sudden overnight rise of the youth. Whatever treasure he used to go from zero to hero in a month wasn't in the ring.

Giving the body of the youth a final kick, the man walked off back into the dark forest.

"I'll let the vicious beasts take care of your body!"

Unknown to the vicious man, two eyes watched the entire affair. At first surprised, the look on the youth who emerged from the shadows became grim.

He walked up to the body of the dead boy to see if there was any hope for him.

"Killed instantly," he said to himself.

The youth with blond hair and blue eyes wore a red and orange tunic with wool shoes.

"Poor kid, I'll bury your body for you," the young man looked around and found a large stick. He dug into the earth until he was able to reach a depth of about six feet.

He picked up the body of the boy and placed him gently into the earth. Thinking for a moment, the youth began to speak.

"From dust, you were made and to the dust, you are returned. May God have mercy on your soul," the youth said.

It was then the youth heard a sniffling sound, he turned and saw a young girl walk toward the grave. Tears streamed down her face and she nodded toward the blond youth.

She looked at the boy in the grave and cried.

"Why did you have to do that, Lin? I told you..." She looked back at the blond youth who stood quietly.

"I told him, he's too aggressive, but he thought he was invincible," she cried for a while.

She stood slowly and took the freshly dug earth and put it on top of his body. She looked to the youth who walked over and helped her bury Lin's body.

After they finished, the teary-eyed girl cleaned her face with a piece of cloth. The youth seemed surprised to see her calm herself. Minutes before she cried with great intensity.

The girl noticed the youth's stare.

"You must think I'm inhuman," she said.

The youth shook his head, "I don't know you. It's just that it seems like you had a close relationship with him, but you've managed to restrain your tears so easily."

"That's because I've done nothing but cry for the last few months, ever since Lin had his great "Opportunity" I've done nothing but cry with worry. I understood his fate better than he did," She said.

"God counts the tears of women," the youth said.

The girl looked at him, confused.

"It's just a saying I heard in a movie once. It means women understand the world better than men, and that's why they cry more than men. At least, that's what I think it means," the youth said.

"Movie?"

"I mean a play, I saw once," the youth hurriedly corrected himself.

The girl seemed to accept his answer.

"You are the girlfriend that man mentioned, what will you do now? It's too dangerous to go back to town, isn't it?"

"Don't worry, although the members of the Purple Mongoose Sect might think they are invincible, my father has his own strength. We're leaving Flower Ridge Town. I was trying to convince Lin to come with us when all of this happened. I don't want to talk about it." The girl looked at the youth with a heavy heart.

"It's fine, I'll walk you to your father," he said.

"Thank you, big brother, may I know your name?" The girl smiled gently.

"Most people call me Doc," the youth said.

"Thank you, Doc, for what you did for Lin, at least someone was willing to bury him."

"It was nothing much, may I know your name little sister?" Doc asked.

"Yu Mei," she said.

"Oh, then what is your name?" he asked.

"Yu Mei..." the girl was confused.

Realizing his mistake, the youth's face blushed slightly.

"Shall we go?" he asked.

Yu Mei nodded to Doc and they walked toward the town.

Doc looked back and noticed a black wolf with vicious red eyes watch them leave.

"I wonder why that wolf never attacked?" He muttered to himself.
