Reality? Illusion?

Kong Xiang frowned. He instinctively realized something was wrong.

Lu Ming continued speaking. "After Mo Nian succeeded, he turned to a malevolent spirit, his body destroyed. He became invincible, capable of splitting himself to corrupt other cultivators and use them and vessels at will. Eventually, the other cultivators stepped in, and he was defeated, cast back to the Wildlands which was sealed off from the main world, turning to some sort of broken secret realm. This temple serves as the core and central region of the sealed region"

Lu Min questioned. "Benefactor, why are you frowning? Is something wrong?" He had been following Kong Xiang's expression closely.

"How many people do you usually have here as visitors?" Kong Xiang asked, looking straight into their eyes.

"Apart from Master and ourselves, we don't have any contact at all with the outside worl...." His voice trailed off as he realized something, getting the hint. "Benefactor, how exactly did you get inside the Wildlands?"

Kong Xiang smiled bitterly. He already had an answer. "Some days ago, I was travelling back to my sect when the rains started, heavily. This obscured up my navigation sense, and I randomly made for the only shelter in sight."

Kong Xiang must have been passing by the outside space of the sealed region and had unknowingly glimpsed past the seal to see the towering Temple in the distance, thanks to his Eyes of Truth. With his Seal Laws, he had unknowingly once again successfully infiltrated the sealed region. The unknown glimpsing and breaching he had performed unconsciously without even realizing made him thoughtful.

He suddenly sobered up as he remembered something else. "Didn't you mention when I arrived that a lot of visitors who came here asked the same question of why the temple is in your care?. Wouldn't that imply you do have a lot of visitors, a contrast to what you just said?"

"We never said that" Lu Ming and Lu Min looked befuddled, making Kong Xiang suspicious. He clearly remembered having a conversation, with the brothers saying that. He started to wonder if he had been under an illusion or something.

"Do you remember what happened when I got here, or how?" He questioned further.

The brothers were silent for quite a while, their expressions slowing changing from its usual calmness to confusion and some alarm.

"'Benefactor, I don't remember" Lu Min spoke out first. "Actually, suddenly, you are starting to look vaguely unfamiliar. I seem to recall knowing you for quite a while, but memory is somehow dissipating"

Kong Xiang narrowed his eye. Sure enough, his entry into the Wildlands was premeditated and not coincidental. Somehow, he had been brought under control somehow, made to enter, all without him remembering. He suspected all the memories he presently had about his stay here was just a fabrication on the part of some unknown entity.

He looked around warily, unsure if the battle just now was even real, and if the information he had been told was just imagination on his part. Somehow though, he could sense that the conversation he was presently having was real.

"If I didn't know what was real and what is false before, what changed?" He had a feeling it was his Karma Law. Somehow, he had broken the illusion by virtue of it and was now aware. But everything around him could still be an illusion.

"Eyes of Truth" He activated his Karmic Subspace vision and channeled it to his eyesight. This overlapped with his bloodline ability, the Eyes of Truth, and his eyes consequently gained a strange glowing lustre. In his vision, the environment changed, becoming devoid of colours. The tea, the room, the chairs, everything around him transformed.

"Bloody hell" He swore loudly.
