22 Reselling

When Professor Ebbon came back I asked him to train regularly in the grassland from last time. The environment there is much more beneficial for my cultivation. It will also prevent interference from employees and other members of my family.

Professor Ebbon was skeptical because he needed Grandpa Tiburce's approval.

Tiburce agreed after I used my big, watery puppy dog eyes.

So I spent the whole week training in the grassland...

Every day I manage to hold the spheres a little longer.

Today is my day off. I'd like to take the opportunity to sell my entire reserve at the Harcourt Auction House.

I'm not going to be able to go there like that. No one would take a kid that young seriously, especially if I sold so much wealth. They're going to look into it.

I used my free time to make myself some little stilts. With them, I'd at least be the size of a teenager.

I also secretly borrowed a long black hooded cap from Eudeline. It will perfectly cover my identity and stilts.

I've discreetly gone out and borrowed a horse to go to the auction house.

This time I had time to observe the outside of the building.

It is simple but elegant in beige stone with beautifully carved wooden beams. The Harcourt coat of arms floats peacefully above the entrance. It represents a large crested bird holding a balance in its very long beak.

The entrance for those who want to sell is not the same for the customers.

It is a large wooden door on the side.

The inside is smaller than the large hall that leads to the auction rooms.

The hall is entirely decorated with carved wood. A dozen counters occupy the back of the room. Behind each counter, there is a waiting line leading to the other side of the room.

It's not for nothing if they are the largest auction house in the country. Whether it's the buyers or the sellers, they all rush here.

I'll put myself in the waiting line who looks the shortest to me.

I have to wait for a while so I take the opportunity to observe the receptionists behind the counter and the various vendors.

Some look extremely rich, while others look like they live on the street. I have also noticed two people like me wearing a hooded cape, to hide their identity.

They are all greeted with the same care. The Harcourt family is really smart. You never know who has a very rare object in their hands to sell.

People who look like they live on the street could very well be great adventurers returning from an expedition.

So the receptionists are extremely polite to everyone, even with those they have to decline to buy an item.

They all have a large magnifying glass in their possession. It seems that they are not only used to see the objects in detail.

Each time they look at an object with the magnifying glass, after a few seconds the receptionist seems to read in the void.

I've heard about this. They're analytical magnifiers. Objects analyzed with this magnifying glass have no secrets, you know immediately what you have in your hand. You can also tell what the object is used for and where it is. If it is of poor quality or if it is very old, the magnifying glass will tell you everything.

It's finally my turn.

"Good morning, my lord. Welcome to the Harcourt Auction House. What did you wish to sell?"

I took out a gold candlestick and a small silver jewelry box entirely decorated with precious stones.

"I have in my possession a very large number of such items which I wish to sell. I can't take them all out here, it would spill over the counter."

She looked puzzled.

"Please wait a moment, I'll ask someone in charge."

A few moments later she returned with a young blond-haired man with violet eyes who looked familiar to me.

"Sir, please come with me. My manager will take care of you in a private room."

I followed them behind the counter to a luxurious mid-size room.

We settle into large comfortable divans with wide cushions. Between, us is a large coffee table made of solid wood and covered with a beautiful coat of varnish.

The receptionist leaves the room, leaving me alone with her manager.

He is a very young man of about 9 years old. In spite of his young age, his face shows very great signs of beauty.

He is already tall for his age.

"Hello sir, I'm Roland Harcourt. Can you pull out the items you want to sell us?"

So it's young Lord Harcourt. No wonder he looks so familiar to me. He was present at my baptism.

In a few short years, he's already changed a lot. A valiant and masculine air begins to appear on his young face. He's a very promising child.

I take out everything I want to sell them. Mainly commodities like the ones I've already taken out. I keep for myself the precious and magical stones and all the things I stole from the Harcourt house. I will slowly sell them to the other auction houses in the city.

A great mountain of all kinds of goods appeared on the table.

Sir Roland took the time to examine them all carefully.

"Well, we don't usually buy this sort of thing. We specialize in magic objects of all kinds and potions. However, in view of the quantity you offer, I should like to buy them from you at the price of gold by weight."

He had a scale brought in and weighed all the items.

This boy is already a real trickster! He knows how to increase the profit for him. These items are made by expert craftsmen. They're worth more than just their price in gold! It's almost stealing!

But I don't really have a choice if I want to resell them at a good price, I'd have to sell them to specialists. I can't take the risk that someone would recognize their origins.

"It's rare to see a customer bring us so many objects for the daily use of the nobility at once."

"I had a set from a family who didn't want them anymore."

"I haven't heard of any noble families going downhill lately."

"I thought you didn't ask about the origin of what we sell you! I can very well go and sell it all to one of your competitors!"

"Forgive me, dear customer. I'm just curious. Keeping up to date with the latest events is also part of my job."

When he finished weighing everything he gave me a part of the money. He will give me the rest when all the items are sell.

I won't come back with the same disguise. You can never be too careful.
