64 Apostle Battle

"Erm can you untie me?"

"NO!!" Both Emma and Ellie replied simultaneously.

"B-but," Elise tried to retort, thinking really hard to come out with a legitimate reason.

"No buts, do you have any idea how many problems you have caused us these days?" Emma angrily pinched Elise's cheeks. Acting like an angry mother to the little Elise.

"That's right! Do you really need me to recount each one of your 'incidents'?" Ellie chopped onto Elise little head.

"O-oh ha-have I-I done someth-thing wrong?" Elise looked guiltily away, not daring to look directly into Ellie's eyes. She turned away in pure guilt allowing her silver hair to face Ellie's threatening glare.

"Looks like you haven't learned your lesson. Three days after our Lord left us and we tried entering Zulpolis. When the guards stopped us, you took out that halberd and massacred them. Who did you think was the one who hid that mess?

Then six days later a noble scolded you when you bumped into him, then you took out that axe and turned that noble into minced meat. And there are several other of these 'incidents'.

DO I HAVE TO MENTION EVERYONE OF THEM?" Ellie questioned with her stern eyes.

At first, she was still willing to overlook Elise's 'minor' antics, but over time these antics were impossible to be overlooked.

Even as a trained assassin whose job was to torture others for information, Elise's actions had really gone over Ellie's bottom line. No, in fact, Elise's tramped all over it.

"In my defence, they weren't good people. HMPH!" Elise pouted while she struggled to tear the ropes.

"ENEMY!" But who? Elise tore the binding ropes, and her halberd flew towards her hand.

She did a backflip before facing an empty space.

Sensing the severity of the situation, Emma led the children away.

"My my my. I wonder what all the fuss was about with the upper management. Turns out they sent me to handle a little girl.

But its alright! My God forgives all evil. Come now. Abandon that evil lord you serve and come to my side." A man wearing a pure white mask spoke with exaggerated movements. His white cloak and armour fit his comedic/heroic outlook.

"Hypocrite." Elise unleashed an immense amount of bloodlust, only muttering a single word.

"Oh. No. You have been brainwashed. I. Must. Cleanse. You. Forgive me, young soul." He said in a sarcastic voice with additional hand gestures.

"Disgusting. You should die. ARGH." I hate this guy. Despite Elise's massive strength. The unknown apostle just dodges playfully and poses after each successful dodge.

"Oh, how rude of me, little girl. Where are my manners? I am the apostle of Justice~ Justice~. And my name is Justin~ Justin for Justice. Woohoo. Rest assure. I will free you from his brainwashings." Justin danced to Elise's attacks.

"Here I come. Watch your steps." Justin warned. Then he pulled out a rapier from the shaft. [Justice Stabs].

The flashing light indicates the activation of the skill. Despite knowing that she was under attack, Elise couldn't block all of the strikes. Some landed on her leg, resulting in a few gushing wounds. Droplets of blood fell out of the fresh wound as she continued to keep a distance away from the formidable foe.

Tsk, there is two? I can't even handle one already, and yet there is a second one. Not good.

"Ellie. Let's do that." Elise was pushed back constantly without a way to retaliate.

"Alright."

However, right before the staff which Ellie held hit Elise's halberd. The second apostle finally showed herself.

"I am sorry, but your opponent is me. Care to join me for a cup of tea? [Maximise Magic: Earth Barrier]" A wall rises from the ground and isolated Elise and Ellie.

"Good evening. I am Alustiel, the apostle of peace. Let us get to the point, You must die here." After this short introduction, Alustiel started blasting spells.

"I must serve. Hah!" The moment Ellie raise her staff, Ellie was pummeled by Alustiel. Each time Ellie stood up, she was smashed onto the ground without a chance to strike.

Too strong. Too powerful. Did the lord send me here to die?

While the two girls were struggling, Dan looked slightly disappointed.

"Looks like things are going well for you," Asmer commented.

"Oh well, it looks like their resolve has weakened since we last met." Dan shook his head.

"So you're gonna interfere with the fight. Oh. The silver hair girl just lost her eyes. Poor girl." Despite Asmer's words which shows pity, her already smiling mouth only widens.

"She really is going to lose both eyes..."

Just as predicted, Justin slashed into Elise's eyes. Now without her eyes, Elise couldn't see anything. She blindly stumbles around, hoping to escape from the powerful foe. Unfortunately, her legs soon share the same fate.

Without her legs, Elise lay flat on the ground waiting for her death. Why is it that I am about to die here?

A familiar voice whispered into her ear, "It seems that I have overestimated your resolve. Do you not feel the anger in him? All that hatred poured into his blade?

Who told you that you have lost once you've lost your eyes? Feel it. Embrace it. Chaos is your ally. Feel the disturbance in the space..."

"But there is nothing I can sense in him. Even if I do his hatred is too small his nature only serves to weaken his hatred."

"Each and every lifeform is susceptible to negative emotions. You overestimate your opponent too much yet underestimate them.

And it seems that I have overestimated you. Perhaps I should begin looking for a replacement." Soon the comforting voice turned harsh and cruel. Each and every word crave fear into Elise's mind.

No. I do not want this. I cannot lose here. Visions appeared in Elise's head. Mother... Is that you?

A similar silver-haired woman appeared in the darkness... no this is the royal castle? What does the lord intend to show me?

Perhaps the Lord has granted me mercy and allowed me to meet my mother once again.

Nostalgia and joy ran rampant in Elise's heart. There she was, the only person that she cared about. Elise observed her mother's action. Her mother was smiling while drinking a cup of tea.

Everything changed once Elise's mother turned her head over. The gentle smile was now gone, replaced by a look of contempt and disgust.

Nostalgic indeed... she treated me with so much kindness. Who knew that turned out to be fake. Elise sighed deeply in her heart, only if she had seen her mother's true face earlier...

Ah, I 'see' it now. So this is the Lord's intention. 'Looks' can be deceiving, so why see with my eyes when I can 'feel' my surroundings. Now now, where are you, Justin? There you are.

"Ahahaha!" Elise burst out in laughter.

"Poor soul. You must have lost your mind. Fear not. For I the great Justin will give you a painless death." And so Justin delivered a piercing strike onto Elise's throat.

In the nick of time, Elise blocks the rapier using her halberd. A metallic cling resounded, and the rapier was forced into an unnatural bend.

And in a way so sudden so quick that Justin could barely react, Elise landed a tiny scratch on Justin's mask. And from the small scratch, dark red energy pour out into the air.

Immediately after, the energy poured into Elise. Her lost limbs grew back without a scar. She spun the halberd and held it behind her back. Elise was radiating a kind of red air. A bewitching smile remained on her face while her eyes were still shut.

"You... what just happened?" Justin reached out for his mask. There, he felt a single scratch through his white glove. "You got guts! How dare you scratch the mask of justice?"

In his midst of fury, his strikes became two-fold stronger. However, as his blows were blocked, Justin got angrier and angrier. Eventually becoming so frustrated, and mad that his power increased exponentially.

Unfortunately for the poor apostle of justice, all his anger and rage only drove Elise to a new height. By the time Justin noticed this change, he was dealt a smashing blow to his pure white mask.

Now the mask is filled with cracks, with blood seeping through the cracks.

"I see now. You are feeding off my anger. Then it is easy." Justin wiped the blood off his mask. Somehow, the blood did nothing to stain the pure white mask. Now, Justin was radiating a strange aura.

"Goodbye." The incoming rapier seems to be overbearing as it approaches the undefended Elise.

"Impossible..." Justin gasped as he saw the incredible scene before him. The strike that he put all his strength into was blocked with a single finger. Out of a sudden, the beautiful little girl in front of him seems more like a monster.

Her chaotic aura flutters unpredictably as she gasped for air. Her eyes turned crisom red, and an demonic shadow stands behind her back.

"Welp looks like the little girl lost control," Asmer commented as she giggled at Dan.

"Was this intended? Or was this just a mistake? Whatever the case it seems like those gods are greedy. Already they sent an army into your land. I will be leaving first. Tell me if something fun happens." Asmer stood up and prepared to leave.

"Oh by the way important advice. Since you don't know much about the rules of the mortal game.

You are not allowed to interfere directly. Only your mortals are permitted to fight mortals, but it looks like you already got a good old 'present' waiting for them. Bye-bye. Tell me when something fun happens." And just like this Asmer disappeared and a monstrous-looking Leora appeared in the corner of Dan's mind.
