5 Past - 3

"Are you telling me everything?" She asked.

Jason sat up straighter, rolling his eyes. "Would you get off my ass? I just lost everything and you're nagging. I hate it when you nag."

He threw the remote and stormed to the front door.

"I'm not nagging." She followed. "I just feel like you aren't telling me everything."

He grabbed his jacket and walked out. "I told you everything. You're just being paranoid."

Few more weeks went by but nothing changed. Jason continued his streak of depression, closing off from reality. He continued to make a mess in the apartment, allowing the sink to overflow and the garbage to reek of leftovers. Despite her anger, she held her temper.

There was no sex during that entire time. Regina couldn't be considered as a sex addict, but her time at the club had made her desire for it more than normal, she at least needed it on a regular basis. As well as the fact that Jason was not even noticing her irritated her more. They slept on the same bed, but he stuck to his side and she stuck to her side.

When she came back home from work one day, she saw something had changed. The apartment was clean, the television was not on. Jason was not on the couch in front of it. "Jason?"

"Hey, babe." She heard Jason's voice as he came down the hallway with a bag over his shoulder. He had a smile on his face, the first one she had seen in forever, and heard him call her babe.

He wrapped one arm around her and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

"Whoa, what was going on? Why are you in such a good mood?"

"I finally got a job." There was excitement written all over his face as he said that.

"Oh, that's great. Thank fucking god." She was already sick of him moping around and getting fat. There was more housework for her to do, and the place was quickly becoming an inhospitable environment. "I'm so happy for you."

"I have to start from Monday."

"That is really great babe. You deserve it."

"The pay is great, and it comes with benefits." He continued.

"Even better." She eyed the bag in his hand. "What's that for?"

"Well, I thought we would go on a vacation before I start work."

"A vacation? Wow. I'm always down for a vacation." Going on a vacation of any kind sounded perfect to her. She and Jason had not gone anywhere in a year. The last vacation they took was to a beach, but that seemed like a lifetime ago.

Jason's eyes finally held signs of life. He was animated and happy. It was a stark contrast to the lifeless man who had been sitting in the apartment for the past few weeks.

Regina jumped into his arms and wrapped her body around his. "This is going to be so much fun."

His arms immediately circled her body, and he pulled her close to him. He reacted to her immediately, and slowly, his lips found hers. He gave her the first kiss she had gotten in weeks. His arms lifted her from the ground, and he carried her into their bedroom.

It was just what she needed after those weeks of hell. Exactly what she needed.
