4 The Next Step (1)

"Well, do any of you have any ideas?"

"Maybe we can call those government dudes? What did they call themselves? A.R.R.O.W?"

"S.H.I.E.L.D, Darcy. And that seems like a great idea. "

I could hear a conversation taking place, but instead of interrupting I just kept pretending to be asleep. I had to figure out my next step.

'I can either wake up and talk to them, likely get interrogated by S.H.I.E.L.D, and then get put under surveillance. This also involves the possibility of them realizing I don't exist and have information no one should be able to access, since every move I make will be watched and I'm pretty sh*t at lying or pretending.'

However, there's a slight chance that I can get involved with the tesseract and maybe, just maybe I can go home, because even though my wildest fantasies becoming reality is awesome..... I can't live with myself if I just abandon any attempt to rejoin my family.

But there's also a chance I can't go back home, and in that case I definitely need to change cannon to my benefit, no matter if it involves making friends with the heroes, stopping certain villains from ever existing or anything else. And that ties in to the other option that I'm actually considering.

'I can run.

It doesn't seem like much of a plan, but nobody has a picture of me and any description they get might not be accurate enough to locate me. Besides, although they probably won't do anything right now, what if Hydra chooses to do something? I need to get familiar with my abilities, at least enough to survive against trained killers. As for food and other stuff, I'll have to figure that out on the way.'

While all of this was going through my mind, the scientists were still trying to decide on what to do, until I decided to see if my left arm was really back or if the feeling of it existing was just an illusion made by my brain. So I decided to try raising it just a little bit slowly and quietly, however it seemed that I wasn't as subtle as I thought.

"Wait, guys, is he awake? I swear I saw him move!"

As the voice I recognized as belonging to Darcy spoke, I decided.

'Option 2 it is then.'

I jumped up to my feet effortlessly, ignoring the surprised expressions of the nerds. Then I tried to replicate the feeling I had while making an anchor, except this time I focused it outwards. Crystals manifested from my feet in every direction until I lowered the intensity of the crystals spawning from the front of my feet, focusing most of the power to the back of my foot.

Slowly, I began sliding forward and seeing that my little experiment was a success, I gradually increased the amount of spawning until I went from a slow 5 m/h to at least 40 m/h, then I went even faster. It went from feeling like I was sliding on ice to surfing in sea, if surfers went 40+ m/h.

I couldn't help but let out a loud hoot of excitement over the noise of the wind crashing into me.

I heard a distant shout of "Wait!", but I paid it no mind. I had decided, safety over luck. I had to control my own destiny and I couldn't do it sitting inside a bugged apartment, hoping to miraculously get included in the A.V.E.N.G.E.R.S Initiative. If worst came to worst, I could take part in the Battle of New York, and get acquainted with them there.

As I was surfing though, I heard shots being fired in my direction. 'Right, S.H.I.E.L.D's probably on high alert because of the Destroyer's attack.' I wasn't concerned though, my crystals could likely stop the bullets, that was until I also saw black vans with the S.H.I.E.L.D logo parking far in front of me.

'Don't tell me they're- sh*t!'

As I had feared, agents in tactical gear took up a position in front of me ready to fire. Among them I also saw a person on top of a van, nocking an arrow.

'It would best not to hurt anyone, otherwise they might think of me as a threat in the future. Well, more than I already am. About Hawkeye though, maybe I can get out of his range. '

With that thought in mind, I directed my crystals to grow upwards instead of just forward, taking me into the air further and further until I was far above and then over the agents. Suddenly, I realized that me and my crystals were floating in midair.

'I can't feel the crystals connecting me to the ground. Some kind of explosive? Likely explosive arrows since I don't remember seeing any of them with anything other than rifles.'

Although the situation was disadvantageous, I didn't panic mostly because I could feel that I could still create more from the crystals I was standing on. I spawned crystals downwards like a I was going down on a roller-coaster, but instead of going up again, I decided to stay on ground level since I could feel my stamina draining pretty quickly compared to spawning the crystals on concrete.

Then I kept going for a while before stopping. S.H.I.E.L.D could definitely track me if I kept using the crystals as transport and I was getting exhausted anyway, so I decided to start running on foot. I was hoping that my head-start would help me get far enough away that they would call off the search. While I was running though, I realized that I didn't feel that tired, instead I was regaining my stamina from the non-stop surfing.

'I have no idea how that even works, but hey superpowers are called superpowers for a reason. But it would be best to test them out as much as I can. For now though, lets just keep running.'

It was weird, I didn't feel hungry, thirsty or even a little bit tired and I theorized that maybe it was because I was absorbing energy from some outside source like Superman does with the sun. I wasn't a scientist though so I had no clue but while I was making guesses, I also remembered something rather important.

'My arm! How is it even back? And why the hell is it green?!!'
