The Beginning

Thiago Crux Rodriguez

is a man born on April 27, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, United States.

He has Brazilian and Nusantara (now Indonesia) blood from his parents

who met at the University of California, Berkeley.

Carlos Rodriguez & Jessica Aquilani met in a quantum physics class in 1916 & married in 1925.

The name Crux itself is taken from Jessica and her father's favorite constellation.

Crux has an oval face with brown eyes, a sharp nose, and brownish skin typical of Indonesians.

He has wavy black curtain hair. He is almost 6 feet tall and he is 66 kg.

He always wears a hoodie wherever he goes because he can't handle the cold.

He also wears gloves and long jeans whenever he goes out.

Crux started playing sports when he was 7 years old.

His father used to take him to play soccer when he was a kid

and his mother also taught him to play badminton.

but like any other Brooklyn kid, he loves basketball.

But like his parents, Crux was interested in studying physics when he was in high school

Because he thought that all sports games were won with physics and logical calculations.

From then on, Crux aspired to continue his studies outside of America

so that he could learn independently and find new things outside of America.

Crux traveled to Japan and going to Hiroshima University in 1944.

He made friends with Yuki Hime and Jun Kyosuke, both majoring in physics.

Crux had few friends in Japan due to his limited fluency in Japanese.

Fortunately, Yuki and Jun understood English

because their parents worked at an international company called J-Tech,

where they were taught English from childhood to prepare for potential work at J-Tech.

Yuki and Jun also helped Crux become fluent in Japanese.

Yuki, a Japanese woman born in Tokyo, had smooth white skin,

shoulder-length straight black hair, a beautiful oval face, and black eyes.

She had a birthmark near her thin pink lips and wore a snow-shaped earring in her right ear. Yuki stood at about 5.6 feet tall and weighed 54 kg.

Despite her feminine appearance,

she had studied karate martial arts in Tokyo with her uncle during middle school.

Yuki was interested in physics due to her love for snow

and her dream of creating a snowy environment at home.

Jun Kyosuke, a white and pure-skinned Hiroshima native,

had the typical face of a Japanese man, wore glasses, and had slightly thick eyebrows.

His short black hair framed a slightly square face.

Standing at 5.5 feet tall and weighed 61 kg,

Jun had been fascinated by science since childhood,

often reading picture books (now known as manga)

and was drawn to the sophisticated science depicted in them.

This led him to study physics in college, driven by a desire to explore the possibilities.

In 1945,

the United States dropped leaflets all over Japan warning civilians of air raids.

Japanese citizens told the government to protect them

and refused to be afraid of the United States' threats.

Crux's parents, who sent letters every month, were worried about his situation in Japan. However, Crux reassured them that he was kept far away from the bombing sites.

In early August,

Crux and Jun accompanied Yuki to visit her mother,

who was 9 months pregnant at Shima hospital

because Yuki's father was busy working at that time.

Yuki's uncle, who usually accompanied her mother, was also busy.

Since college hadn't started yet, they decided to accompany Yuki during the vacation.

Crux is wearing a black hoodie jacket, navy jeans, and brown leather shoes.

Meanwhile, Jun is wearing a gray short-sleeved shirt, black pants, and green flip-flops.

Yuki is wearing a light blue long-sleeved shirt, brown long skirt, and green shoes.

Upon arriving at the hospital at 7.45 am in the morning,

the weather was very nice at that time.

Yuki shared that her long-time wish for her little brother finally came true.

Crux and Jun were also happy for her.

As they walked to Yuki's mother's room,

she excitedly discussed the things she would do with her brother.

When they arrived, Mrs. Yuki was delighted to see Yuki bring her new friend, Crux.

Jun had already met Mrs. Yuki when Yuki's father was transferred from J-Tech Tokyo

to J-Tech Hiroshima, and they got to know each other at their parents' office.

The room is very bright, with lights in every corner of Yuki's mother's room.

Yuki's mother wears a white hospital gown and she is lying on a hospital bed.

"Mrs. Yuki, do you already have a name for the baby?" asked Crux.

"I haven't even had a chance to think of a name for the baby with my husband yet, but I'm sure Yuki already has many name suggestions in mind," Mrs. Yuki replied.

"I have a lot of girl and boy names that are perfect for winter," said Yuki.

"It's still fall, Yuki, unless your mother can keep the baby until winter," said Jun with a laugh.

"I think I might subconsciously hold the baby if Yuki keeps coming up with her list of cute names," Mrs. Yuki replied, also laughing.

Everyone in the room laughed at the discussion,

except for Yuki, who left the room with a slightly disappointed face.

Crux followed Yuki to the rooftop of the hospital to talk to her.

"They're just joking, Yuki. You know that, right?" Crux reassured her.

Yuki suddenly smiled at Crux, leaving him confused.

"What's wrong? Is there something on my face?" asked Crux, looking puzzled.

"It's okay, I always come here with my dad when I visit mom," replied Yuki, cover up his disappointment.

"My father told me that they used to meet on the rooftop of the school during lunchtime and daydream about what would happen in the future." Yuki continued her story while looking at the sky.

"So, what did they think would happen in the future?" asked Crux.

"They thought about a world that is much more peaceful than now, and they also thought about making a cure for all diseases," replied Yuki.

"Is that what your father is doing at J-Tech?" Crux asked curiously.

"I've seen my father working when he was in Tokyo. They make technology that can create energy like a battery that can match the power of electricity," said Yuki, recalling her father's job.

"Wow, such incredible work," Crux exclaimed.

A few minutes later, Jun arrived with canned drinks for Crux and Yuki.

"How did you know I was coming here?" asked Yuki.

"Your mom told me that you usually go to the rooftop with your dad, and she said don't forget your cola on the machine outside the room," Jun explained.

Yuki looked happy with Jun's explanation, and they finally drank cola together.

A few moments later, the sound of a plane was heard in the sky.

From the sound, there were probably many planes flying over Hiroshima's skies at that time. Crux, Jun, and Yuki looked up to the sky, curious about what was happening.

Crux seemed worried that the warning from the U.S. a few months ago would happen.

And then

A giant ball with a diameter of 3 meters fell from the sky to the hospital.

Crux, who saw the giant ball, shouted, "Get down and hold hands, guys!"

Their position was in front of the rooftop door, and the ball exploded behind that door.

Crux saw Yuki shed tears while listening to Jun's prayer,

and then they closed their eyes together.

sfx "BOOMMMM!!!"
