19 Ryu Defeats Zephyr
Four Days Later
Sven fell to the ground passed out. Sengoku came out of a crater with some wounds. Surprise on his face. The next moment Rayleigh and Scopper appeared. Scopper grabbed Sven and the gold staff while giving Sengoku a wave and left.
Sengoku: How did these kids train? They're monsters.
Rayleigh: Yea I'm also interested in how they did it. He said he'll show Roger and us in a few months so if we meet again depending on what it is I might tell you.
Sengoku: Old Rules?
Rayleigh: No I've actually got a new game instead of arm wrestling with you.
Sengoku: New game. What game?
Rayleigh: Hehehe it's called chess come on let's sit down.
The two sat down as Rayleigh began to teach Sengoku the game. Sengoku was surprised hearing the rules and the way to play. His eyes sparkled as it was a strategic game. He said
Sengoku: Is this a game on sky Island.
Rayleigh: No Ryu made it.
Sengoku: Amazing.
Rayleigh: Theres also a game called checkers.
Rayleigh explained it and Sengoku frowned as he said
Sengoku: Its good but not as strategic as Chess.
Rayleigh: Mm that's why he came up with a saying to perfectly reflect that. Of course it can only be used when you utterly trap and defeat your opponent.
Sengoku: Oh how does it go
Rayleigh: You were playing checkers while I was playing chess.
Sengoku: No wonder the WG let such a talent blow right past their noses.
Rayleigh: That's not what he thinks.
Sengoku: Its not
Rayleigh: No in his opinion his development stems from his location along with there being so many strong pirates. From Rocks, to World, us, WhiteBeard, Shiki, Redfield and those up and comers. They all gave him time to develop and mature by taking the spotlight. By the time you noticed him it was too late. And even then you still couldn't move him because of those same problems. He merely took advantage of the unstable sea to develop to the point he couldn't be moved casually.
Sengoku: Sigh. that's true. Although there aren't a boundless amount of pirates the ones that are out there are strong ones. Or just difficult to deal with or catch.
Rayleigh: Mm come on let's play
Zephyr: I heard you have the Crush Crush Fruit. Why don't you use it?
Ryu: 3 reasons. One I want to beat you with my own strength and not a borrowed power. Two I need a overwhelming victory. Not just for myself but also for the future of my Kingdom. Third I respect you enough to give you the chance to showcase your all.
Zephyr: I can understand the first two. But the third is quite laughable. You respect me so you hold back
Ryu: It seems you dont understand so I'll just show you.
As he spoke he stood still as Zephyr was about to deliver a punch. The next moment a force of some kind erupted from him as Zephyr seemed to be suspended in air. Rayleigh and Sengoku stopped their game and even the war between Roger and Garp stopped.
They watched as Ryu touched the neck, heart and head of the suspended like Zephyr. The next moment the force retracted as Zephyr landed on the ground in a daze. He touched those places but it was hard to see his feelings with the serene calm on his face.
Zephyr: You have two Devil Fruits?
To this question both Garp and Sengoku also looked for the answer even if they already had the answer in their hearts. But Ryus answer not only shocked them but also everyone including Sara.
Ryu: Not quite.
The next moment he undid his Armament Haki on his upper body. It revealed a smooth flawless. If this was normal times then others wouldn't care much. But this was a fight with two fist fighters. You're gonna receive a few hits from the other that leave bruises and slight injuries.
However Ryu showed no signs what so ever. To them this type of healing belonged to a rare Zoan or a healing fruit. Thinking this the others couldn't help but thinking of what a good combination.
Zephyr smiled tossed his jacket aside his fist and arm black as he stood ready to go as he said
Zephyr: If I beat you I'll be the first to say I literally beat up the ultimate monster. Get ready
The others knew that with that Zephyr acknowledged Ryu. Ryu covered his fist and arms in Haki and lunged at Zephyr. And thus the fighting continued. The two showed the best of the navy's sixth powers and Haki.
1 Day Later
Ryus fist suddenly shined red for a moment as he sent a punch at Zephyr who retaliated. When the two fist connected Zephyr was sent flying. This caused Rayleigh, Sengoku and everyone watching to become shocked.
After all until now neither Zephyr or Ryu had been sent flying. Although they managed to land hits every so often. It never lead to such a situation. This meant that out of the two something happened. An improvement or change in style.
Rayleigh: Hes close.
Sengoku: Close to what?
Rayleigh: To adding Conquerors Haki to his attacks and letting it flow like normal Haki.
Sengoku looked confused but then looked at the fight with Roger and Garp. His eyes sparkled as he said
Sengoku: You mean?
Rayleigh: Exactly. Another Monster Is about to rise.
Ryu looked at his fist as the red shine had already faded. "I've gotta get that feeling back"
Step
Zephyr came out of the smoke spit some blood out his mouth and said
Zephyr: Nice hit. But it wont happen again.
Ryu: Oh and here I thought it was just getting exciting.
Next Day
Ryu who had somewhat grasped the way to apply Conquerors Haki to his attacks had the upper hand. However he couldn't land a solid blow on Zephyr and still didn't know how to let it flow. Zephyr showed better Observation Haki than what Ryu expected. And although Ryu had good Observation Haki it wasnt to the level of Alex.
From the last fight with Borsalino Alex had gained some inspiration into future sight. It seemed that Zephyr was also at this juncture but hadn't fully stepped inside. So the question of the rest of this fight is. Would Ryu land develop to letting conquerors Haki flow before Zephyrs Observation Haki advanced?
Next Day
On this day Ryu ducked under an attack from Zephyr. Cocked back his arm as he begun to swing only the next moment. He and Zephyr disappeared from the spot. Zephyr appeared first but his expression froze as he looked at Ryu.
He was in the same punching motion as before. Seeing this Zephyr smiled faintly as he gathered Haki on his torso. A punch was sent but it did not land squarely as a great force made contact with Zephyrs torso and sent him flying as Ryu stood there with a smile on his face.
His breath heavy as he looked at his hand. Black haki with a shine of red around it. He'd fully done it. And his Observation Haki advanced a little. Not to the level of Zephyrs but enough to allow him to keep up with Zephyr.
Sengoku sighed as he went to pick up Zephyr. Rayleigh packed up the games and went towards Ryu who had been surrounded by Sara, Sven and the others from Atlantis. As for Zephyr. He was currently being tended to by doctors as Sengoku watched.
Sengoku: Are we old or are they just monsters?
Zephyr: Who knows. But I do know that we're gonna have our hands full now. What will the WG do now is the question we should be asking.
Sengoku: I to wish to know what they'll do. Though I am more interested in what that barrier is that Dragon spoke of.
Zephyr: So is the WG. After all such a thing is unheard of. This will be a fight of resources and benefits. Two things I hate to fight for.
Sengoku: Sigh. It'll be another day or so until Garp and Rogers fight is over so let's go play chess.
Zephyr: Chess?
Sengoku: Trust me you'll love it.
A day and a half later
The fight between Roger and Garp ended. When Ryu came to the scene he saw the both of them on the ground bloody still throwing punches. Slow, very very slow and powerless punches. Crokus began to treat roger while the doctors from the marines tended to Garp. With that Ryu looked towards the bandaged Zephyr and said
Ryu: Thanks for the fight old man. If you find being a Marine is to tedious you can come and retire in Atlantis.
Zephyr: Humph, I'm not so old I need to fully retire. Besides who knows if your Kingdom will last any longer.
Ryu: Hehehe Oh it will. After about a year the World Government will most likely beg me to become a franchise country with benefits that the others can only dream of. Or come to my kingdom with money ready to spend.
Zephyr: A year? Do you think you can last so long.
Ryu: What can I say. I'm Confident.
